  1. Carlton have flagged the possibility of not even taking part in the PSD - Carlton considers bypassing pre-season draft. The article states that they would do so "if a suitable seasoned player is not available at pick two" but my guess is that salary cap onsiderations might play a part given the squillions Judd is costing. This part is of interest as well - "Melbourne, which has the third choice in the draft, also is considering Tenace, whom Geelong wishes to keep."
  2. A very slick and enjoyable read. You might however, consider tuning into 3AW to listen to the football once in a while. Rex Hunt and company are far more interesting people to listen to while driving around on a Saturday afternoon. Yibbida, yibbida. That is all, folks!
  3. Doubt whether CAC1963 would allow the club to get screwed over like that.
  4. How does it feel to have your leg pulled?
  5. Whispers isn't our own Whispering Jack is he?
  6. If Dean Bailey is going to be the new broom, he should start sweeping clean. A new leadership group headed by McLean, Rivers and Carroll who are all currently cultivating a new tough image for the Demons over there in Europe.
  7. Power by 1 point - a premiership victory achieved thanks to the great input of one Dean Bailey. Norm Smith: someone called Burgoyne or Cornes.
  8. Spot on. I can't believe the club has offered him two years with that wonky knee of his. If another club or clubs have expressed interest then all I can say is give him a rest this weekend because if he does his knee a la Neita, his trade value would be south of zero.
  9. 2007 Jim "Frosty" Miller Medallist - Nick Sautner Season 2007 was another record shattering year for Sandringham full-forward Nick Sautner. A five-time Premiership player with Sandringham and a three-time Victorian representative, Nick booted 59 goals from 17 home and away season matches. He kicked seven goals on three occasions and had a season average of three goals a game. Through his feats, Nick climbed to tenth on the all-time VFL goal kicking list with 675 goals, surpassing greats Ron Todd and Jamie Shaw. Season highlights for Nick included his nine goal haul for Victoria in its 119-point thumping of Western Australia and his 200th VFL match. At 30 years of age, Nick has created history in the VFL by becoming the first player to win seven Jim “Frosty” Miller Medals. At the end of the 2007 home and away season Nick’s career statistics stand at 210 games and 675 goals at an average of 3.2 goals per game.
  10. That's one of the problems we have at Melbourne. As much as the boys might "love" him, it's necessary for us to act rationally and to retain players for better reasons than that one.
  11. I agree that the club has to nip Sylvia's tendency to be out and about at night spots till all hours of the night and I agree with your solution Chelly!
  12. Interesting to read that the mfc sounded out Dean Laidley earlier this year about the coaching job and that he's not interested in talking now or after the season (when it's going to be too late). Seems he wants to caoch only the Roos and good luck to him. However, on looking at how he's been going this year, it's amazing how much his team's season has tracked that of the mfc in 2006. We lost the first three games last year and so did the Kangaroos this year. We then won 12 out of the next 14 to make the top 4 after Round 17 (one of the losses to WCE at Subi) in 2006 and so did the Kangaroos this year. Both sides lost in Round 18 of the respective seasons. We went on to win only one more h/a game and one final and then collapsed in a heap. Hope that doesn't happen to Laidley but it shows what a fickle game AFL is.
  13. By golly I hope you're not the real Bluey Adams because I was a fan of his when I was a kid and I had a lot of time and respect for him when he retired from the game and took up a role as a commentator in the media.
  14. Agreed. Play the youngsters at Melbourne and let the older players help out Sandringham.
  15. What week are we talking about?
  16. Kevin Sheedy is a strong supporter of his VFL team. It wouldn't surprise me if this was his his first public appearance since the axing. Perhaps someone can ask him if he wants the Melbourne job.
  17. If we win four games or less then we get a priority pick at the end of the first round of draft selections. If we win fivwe games there's no priority pick for us. Therefore, if we win two more games, we get no PP. Carlton are in a different boat. Because they won less than four games last year, they're eligible for a priority pick at the beginning of the draft if they win four games or less. Therefore, if they win one more game or even draw, they miss out altogether. That's why the last game is shaping up as a monumental disaster with both clubs possibly not being all that interested in winning. In short, if Carlton loses every game it stands to get picks 1, 3 and 19 but if it wins one game it could get 3, 21 and 37 for its first three picks. If Melbourne loses every game then it gets 2, 19 and 21 but if it wins 2 games it could end up getting 4, 21 and 37. The tanking stakes are enormous if clubs can only keep losing.
  18. 3AW didn't give Rex so much of a kick in the pants as they did to Ralph Horowitz his producer who I know is a died in the wool Demon supporter from birth. They also sacked Hutchy who was actually not a bad contributor to the programme. They kept the others including Rex who's responsible for most of the anal humour which caused the station's drop in ratings. Anyhow I don't listen to him any more. Unlike most Demon supporters, I prefer going to the game rather than listening in!
  19. I don't know but I think it was probably because he was [censored].
  20. How silly of me? I thought the current call for Farmer's dismissal was because he drank grog while recovering from an injury, went to Burswood Casino late at night and damaged a car mirror. Those things are of course far more damaging to the image of our sport than drug addiction or consorting with criminals using loaded weapons! Or do you known something we don't?
  21. Cousins doesn't have a partner any more. She told the media that she left him because she couldn't take the mental anguish of living with him in his drug addicted state. Farmer's conviction with regard to his partner happened three years ago and has nothing to do with current calls for him to be dismissed.
  22. You've missed the entire point Jarka. He's specifically saying that it's not an excuse but that the attitude towards Cousins' multiple breaches of the law and community standards have been treated far differently by those in authority to those of Farmer. In Cousins' case it was all a matter of understanding his affliction, how it came about and the necessity to provide a remedy. There's little of that with the Wizard.
  23. Neale Daniher got out early because he felt there was no advantage in prolonging all of the speculation about his future and that of the club in relation to next year's coaching position. It's for this very reason and the stupidity of the above post that I hope that the MFC completes its due process as soon as possible. I'm not necessarily in favour of Connolly above any of the other candidates but neither I nor most of the people who post around here have enough information to make an informed decision about who gets the job. In any event I don't believe anyone has the right to tell the club that they speak on behalf fo posters from Demonland or Demonology.
  24. DEMONS TO GIVE DAVEY PROTECTION: RILEY Talk about shutting the barn door after the horse has bolted? The niggling's been going on for over 12 months. Now that Davey's succumbed to the tactic, lashed back and copped a suspension, the coach instructs his players to stand up for a teammate? Go figure?
  25. No mention of Brad Green returning even though he's supposed to be tested?
