Ross’s comments about footy being messy, contracts being messy, trade period being messy (paraphrasing), as an excuse to trade out Steele was extremely poor, watch him implode the saints again and move into a coaching director role somewhere when it gets all too hard, he should be one of the most under pressure coaches going into 2026- Farewell Clayton Oliver
He’s spot on, it’s the worst contract in AFL history and that sits squarely with the club and Oliver! Let’s hope it’s a wake up call for the club. No high performance organisation gives these contracts out. It’s sad that Oliver didn’t hold up his end of the deal and now the club (especially the old regime) holds all consequences and not Oliver.- Bailey Humphrey

The next three days is going to be an absolute punish….. All I can picture is DF wife asking him to help clean up after the BBQ, “sorry Darl I’m talking to my friends on the internet”- Farewell Clayton Oliver
Never summarized that Clarry has put us down the bottom of the ladder, more we get very little back for a 4 x best and fairest, 2 x coaches award winner in regards to a trade or decent draft concession and the absolute kicker is, we have to pay up to half of his salary. I have highlighted in bold some of your quotes, which I personally cannot agree with, his literal job is to turn up fit, rehab any niggling injuries, listen to his coaches, dont be a distraction to follow players / coaches / MFC and bust his backside at training and on game day for the team that he is very handsomely paid for to do. MFC role was to provide a safe environment for players to develop and contend for premierships. If you sign a contract for that value and length, it comes with some expectations that you have to be the uber professional and deliver - he hasn't for the past two years since he signed that contract. Hindsight is the club SHOULD NOT have offered him that contract, yet he accepted it and all the scrutiny with being one of the AFL's highest paid players. I loved watching Clarry at his best for MFC, we wouldn't have won a flag without him, BUT he needs to take complete responsibility on where his football career is at now, its because of him he's not playing for the MFC, its because of his professionalism that he has to move interstate, the whole its everyone else's fault is getting very long in the tooth.- Farewell Clayton Oliver
I’m finding it hard to feel sorry for this bloke, you draft them, develop them, turn them into premiership players, pay them what most aussies could only dream of making, to where we’re now. He hasn’t held up his end of the bargain and now our club suffers incredibly from it, not only are we paying for him to play elsewhere, we don’t even get something decent in return. Incredibly selfish and immature from Clayton, I’m sure the playing group is ecstatic to see the back of him.- Farewell Christian Petracca
That turns the supporters necks this far….. 🙅🏻♂️- Farewell Christian Petracca
Sorry Cameron, that’s a complete Shizzen hoisin deal, we’ll chat again in 2026!!!- Bailey Humphrey
Has there been a truce between parties to negotiate in private without the ambulance chasing, rubbish bin hiding scum bags (Hi Tom) commentating on it 4 x per day through radio and social media......- Bailey Humphrey
A few people on this thread are forgetting how good Trac is at his best, yes he was coming back from injury this year, but his heart isn’t in it, the GC suns are getting a big time finals player who can tear a game apart “when he wants too”. Humphreys is potential where is Trac has already done it on the big stage. Trac is an absolute A-Grader when he’s invested, unfortunately for us he couldn’t give a funk for us, he turned up, clipped his ticket and did the bare minimum….- Bailey Humphrey
What could possibly the Hawks or Pies offer the suns for Humphrey? Are they just throwing their hat in the ring for the sake of it? If the hawks could bring in Merrit and BH, that shows how poorly our list management has been since 2021….- Bailey Humphrey
- The List Manager Tim Lamb
He has a worse CV than Ned Guy from the Magpies and he got moved on quickly after the contract debacles at the Pies. He’s kept our stars by bending over to whatever they wanted. I’m glad Cornes is putting some heat on him.- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Cornes isn’t wrong about Oliver’s Contract being the worst in AFL history, hasn’t fired a shot since he signed in, now we’re willing to pay $700k+ for him to play somewhere else, talk about mismanagement and a total [censored] show- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Tom checked them in, let them use is Jetstar club pass for the scoop….- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I’m half expecting a Fox Footy special with Trac saying “I’ll be taking my talents to Crows/suns next season”- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
- Simon Goodwin Sacked
it really irks me that Tom Morris gets the most questions... Its never easy these decisions, but is required. 0-5 start, team playing poorly Good on him for putting on his best press conference when he was sacked. Im hoping for a no spin new head coach- Simon Goodwin Sacked
All the best Simon, Thank you for 2021!, you'll always be a MFC great for that reason along. The timing only makes sense if, whoever they're speaking with has said "i will not speak to you while there is someone in the seat", the exact same thing was said by Roos and they moved on Neeld. This is the refresh desperately needed for the MFC, 2026 would have been a [censored] show if Goodwin was still employed. I am hoping for a senior coach with a succession plan with Bruce or someone similair. Go Dees- Time to go Goody?
High performance organisations dont accept 1 season of poor performance, let alone two in a row. Strong organisations make tough calls to ensure the future can be a successful one, this clearly isn’t working, on all levels we’re declining. I’ve read all the Pros and Cons on this thread, what I struggle to understand is the pro to keep Goodwin for 2026, no team jumps from 13/14 to win the flag, even if he made finals, its unlikely we’d extend his contract, it makes zero sense to go into 2026 with Simon as coach, he’ll be sacked by mid year and we have completely wasted another trade period, draft, preseason and season. Great organisations know exactly where their list is, what the future holds and makes move to improve for the future,I think we’ll be spineless and completely wasted another trade 2026.- POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide
That’s poor coaching though, you need to work with what you have, he’s been here 9 years….. let me say that again 9 years, we haven’t been able to score under Goodwin for a long time, 2018, 2021, apart from that we have always been a terrible scoring team, good on D but so unreliable infront of goal. Either we get a senior assistant in to run the midfield / forward connection or we move Goodwin on, this CANNOT go on in 2026, I [censored] hate watching my football team play….. - Welcome to Demonland: Jack Steele
