  1. Everyone is banging on about 'true competitors' and rolling out the time old cliches, but the reality is that premiership winning teams always have players like Jack Watts as the icing on the cake. The Hawks have a couple of them in Gunston and Suckling. You could probably go through every successful club and pick out the players who play their role through skill and intelligence rather than aggression. I firmly believe as the team begins to gel we will see Jack come into his own more and more.
  2. Thanks for the report. Was Trengove just watching? Did he take part in any drills?
  3. Really hope we don't give up on this bloke. I've wanted him to do well since coming over from Freo and always watch him closely. He was one of our best in the four rounds and showed he has the tools to make it. Surely he offers more than a late pick.
  4. Someone on the big footy board who is connected to the Geelong Falcons seems to think Goodwin is keen on Parish and has been for a while. I'd be surprised if we didn't pick him.
  5. Sat next to this bloke for a whole year in Maths class back in the day at St Pats, so I've always kept an eye on him. He'd be close to elite disposal and often gets plenty of it. Not the quickest or hardest player, which is probably his downfall and what kept him on the fringes. Always felt he is a little bit of a downhill skier.
  6. Not sure how closely this guy has actually watched us, given that the way he speaks about Dawes, Kent, Terlich and ANB. I do think that it gives us an idea that public is starting to take us a bit more seriously and we're not viewed as a total basket case. We definitely need some speed and outside run. We looked painfully slow so many times this year. I'm hoping with another a pre-season under the belts of our young players in Harmes, Stretch, Michie & Kent we will start to see some real speed on the outside. Petracca could also prove to be a target up forward and it will be nice having Pederson back on the park. I'm tipping us to finish 10th this season only just missing out on the 8.
  7. Is this different to the normal SEN? I've just got rubbish.
  8. Some peanut on facebook claiming we will trade Toumpas to cats for Josh Walker, who will then trade Toump to Adelaide for Dangerfield.
  9. Doesn't get enough credit on here. I shake my head when I see him listed next to Mckenzie and Bail on the frequent 'delist at end of the season' posts. Linked up well with Jones & Vince today and did the simple stuff. Never going to be a superstar, but a couple of 30 possession games next season will take him to the next level.
  10. Where was that effort in the last month? Thought we were actually pretty good by foot today, especially by the younger blokes. Harmes looks to be a future star and showed some tricks I don't people expected. One bloke who seems to fly under the radar a bit is Stretch. Always looks very composed and creates space for himself. Really looking forward to what he's like after a preseason. One bloke who I thought did well today was Michie. It's a shame he's only hitting his stride now, because I think he's started to develop nicely towards the end of the year. The same thing happened last year and he seemed drop off after the gap. Hopefully not this time, because I like the way he tries to move it on and create inside 50s. Good win Dees
  11. I remember when one of my mates dragged me to a league game a few years ago and I commented on how hilarious it was that they had turned to using cheerleaders, fireworks, crap music and countless more gimmicks to try and get more than 10,000 through the gate. Surely we haven't sunk that low. I'll be taking out a foxtel subscription if we ever resort to putting a podium in the stands with glittery male & female dancers who start busting moves every time we score, like in T20. God help us.
  12. Does anyone go to the game to just watch the footy and not flashing lights and kitsch music? If fireworks and flashy crap is what gets you to the footy, you need to find a new sport.
  13. If anyone thinks this is only happening in GC, they're kidding themselves.
  14. I don't rate Garland. He has ok skills and is a decent kick, but I believe we look a much better team without him playing. One of our biggest issues is our lack of drive off half back. Whenever there is a bit of momentum coming off half back and the ball lands in his hands, the whole game grinds to a halt. Many of our younger players turn quickly and look to move it on. Lumumba also does this (albeit, not particularly well at times), but Garland just seems to freeze, letting the opposition reorganise. It's very frustrating, especially when we start to lose our sting and begin to turn it over. This might have something to do with the "mental scarring" or however Roos wants to label it, but I think Frost or someone with a similar skill set who looks to take the game on is a better option for the team structure. I wouldn't be disappointed if we looked to trade out. Hopefully we can nab a high second rounder.
  15. Jesus christ Bail frustrates the hell out of me. He has cost us two goals and almost one at the death. The bloke is a basket case. Actually a basket would probably be more effective.
  16. Harmes looked good. Pace to burn and took an excellent mark over a player inside 50 and kicked a goal. Looked a player, but not sure if he has the strength for AFL yet. Expect to see him get a run soon .
  17. I was there and I thought Toumpas was average. Really wanted him to do well, but whenever he gets the ball he just looks like he panics. Quite a few times he handballed it to no one or kicked it into a player and had to follow up. I feel like he has the capability to do well, but at the moment he just has no composure. Seems to get in the right places though. He does have a weird running style though. I thought Hunter for the dogs was brilliant. They're so clean around the packs and move the ball so well. Gonna be a force in a couple of years.
  18. I thought that was a bit odd. We just paid the $10 and then went into the GS anyway.
  19. Was at the game last night and thought Watts was pretty average and deserved a bit of flack. However, I just finished watching the replay and thought he actually did pretty well despite the couple of errors he made. He provided a good contest in the forward line and was pretty handy as the third man up a few times. Was involved in a couple of scores as well. As the stats show, Watts is playing his role which is why Roos isn't dropping him. People need to look a little deeper than a few clangers and actually assess whether the player is playing their part or not.
  20. Used to work with Stepehen at HWLE a couple of years ago. Super smart guy and an excellent lawyer. Will be good for the club as he is still passionate about the Dees.
  21. I made this exact comment last night. I reckon you're on the money.
  22. I wonder if that's Jordan Gysberts of Cale Morton driving?
