At the end of the day this for a team of our experience is a routine win, let’s enjoy it and move on. Any real judgement of players / gameplan should come against other top 6 aspirants, Collingwood, Carlton, Brisbane, GWS, Sydney & Port. On that ladder we are currently 0 & 1.

What pleased me most about the win was the way we played / tried to play. Although not perfect at times ie wrong option, poor disposal, too slow moving the ball, we played a game style that can take us deep into September. Not a fan of JVR in the ruck, rucking inside fwd 50 is one thing but not lining up at centre bounces. Vintage BBB & TMac, Chandler firing again, Oliver getting ready to explode. Thought we had our smalls in better positions today at times but little things like Kosi flying for a mark then no one at ground level when the ball spills. Not getting carried away, good win but a few things to work on.

Well his contested marking is better than Franklins but his set shots let him down. Regardless of what anyone thinks if he leaves the kennel he’s poised to sign the biggest contract in the history of the game.

His new contract is likely to surpass that of Franklins, needs to justify it.

Aside from wanting the win keen to see how we play in what looks to be perfect conditions. Reading the Casey match day thread and looking at today’s team we really don’t have much depth if any. We need a dream run with injuries this year. The Swans and Giants have shown the competition what’s required, what have we got?

It’s GWS esque, against lesser opposition they only have to play like this in patches to win. Top 4 hopefuls should only be truly judged against other top 4 aspirants, and on current form they’re looking the goods.

I’m retiring in 9 years.

First of all don’t need to be an elite kick to kick the ball to the fat side of the ground. Elite kicking is an advantage when going through traffic and / or the corridor. Secondly we have players like Langdon and Nibbler.

Obviously personal helps, but we must look to get the ball inside fwd 50 quicker. Whether you have gun fwds or not they will have a better chance of scoring if the ball gets in quick.

Finished 1st end of home and away season and beat the Lions before destroying the Cats and Dogs in the next 2 finals. Geelong went on to win it the following year. 2021 was no fluke.

If we’re serious about Petty staying we need to offer him a new contract this year which would override his current one which runs into next season.
