Finally home, the most impressive part of the session was definitely Maxy. As mentioned by previous posters the man is a powerful beast, looked free in his movement and doesn't appear to be restricted at all. He completed the session with the main group in drills and at one stage won his own ball and sprinted clear from a couple of more nimble teammates with ease. Also stayed back to continue training with Gus and J.Smith. From what I witnessed he could easily have played on Monday. The main group participated in the usual short drills of quick ball movement for about 90 minutes with not an excessive amount of intensity. Everything seems like going to plan, they were clean and precise most times. Great crowd, I got my fix after a couple of weeks without seeing them, bring on Monday. Feel free to ask any questions and I'll try and answer. -

Split into respective groups now, Watts working with the forwards. Short and sharp drills so far. -

Watts moving well. Very slippery early on in the session with some of the boys losing their footing. -

No Spencer, JKH and Wagner on the track! One of Harmes, Bugg, Melksham or Oscar makes way for Salem I guess. -

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 12
Dee Zephyr replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Anyone else tempted to attend the open training session tomorrow? Most likely will head down as all of a sudden we as a club have the opportunity to seize the moment, stand up and be counted , show the AFL world we are not just improvers and on the cusp, we are no longer waiting for teams to fall, we look at each other in the eyes and begin the climb as one. It's time this club made us BELIEVERS, not supporters of hope. -

I'm guessing it all depends on the Saturday morning session with Watts. -

Stretch can't get a look in. Not worthy of at least a spot on the extended bench? -

Thanks, it's been a bit of a wait with the bye, becoming eager now. We didn't even get the 25 on the Thursday for the Anzac game. -

Will they announce our squad tonight? When we played Anzac eve, we had to wait until the Friday or Saturday. Sorry if this has been asked already. -

Jetta is one of our most important players. Good to see some recognition come his way, great guy too it seems after having a few words with him last week at the family night. I haven't checked this but I was told Jetta has only conceded 2 goals this year both by Betts. Remarkable if correct. -
Where's Garlett then? Isn't he the champion data number 1 forward?

Did I miss something? Worst midfield in the comp?

I took my kids to the club family night at Malvern last night with all players in attendance apart from Jesse. The club excels at providing events like this to engage with its younger members, families and in their search for new members. All players were approachable and fun to talk to despite putting up with the monotonous task of posing for hundreds of photos and signing of guernseys. This wasn't an event with scheduled activities it was like a walk in the park and meet your idol. I did get a few minutes to talk to Jetta and despite the contrast in opinion on demonland , the club is happy with the season so far. He stated to me the obvious inconsistencies come down to pressure. When the opposition "Brings it" we are a little unsure of how to counter it. I said to Nev when all of us at the game leave after those close losses we feel just as tired as the players cause we see the effort they put in and to fall short pains us just as much. He responded by saying that the effort all year has been there no doubt and I agreed. Also talked about the Richmond loss and he said the boys were basically treading water in the last cause they worked so hard with limited rotations. If Spencer has stayed fit we win that game he said. He praised the work of the midfield and forward line in the Suns game as they made the job of the backline easy when the game turned in the 3rd. I quoted Lewis to him in regards to the ground size of the ground in Alice and he told me it's longer than Domain and wider than MCG. Im bringing this point up because when we were watching on TV the camera was low and the angles or distances between players was misleading so when we saw a suns player dance on a 20 cent piece around Tyson and Lewis in the middle of the ground it wasn't as bad as it looked. This is not much of an insight but thought I'd post it for a bit of reading since it's a quiet weekend for us. Once again well done to the MFC for events such as these, my kids couldn't wipe the smiles off their faces all afternoon.

I'm no expert on this topic but I noticed this occurs more than just set shots. Watching the replay, Oscar took his out a couple of times after we conceded a goal, Vince was holding his after we scored a goal and Hannan took his out after giving away a 50 and running back to man the mark.

Hogan seems ready for QB according to the reporter on AFL today after speaking to the club this morning.
