Heeney on the bench? Definite starter for mine, the guy should be named right behind Andrews, alone in the square.

I’ll have a go at the NRL. 3 weeks to go until finals and in my opinion any of the top 6 could win the premiership. After countless last minute comebacks by the Penrith Panthers the 13+ @$2.15 for them represents some value. This might be the week where they start well and wipe the Knights off the park.

We might need some left field thinking by the coaches this week Febes. In baseball terms, we are 1 out at the bottom of the 9th and we need to bring a pinch-hitter or two in.
-
I would do some homework @Demonland by having a look at the West Coast Big Footy page and preview of our game. How good are you at giving a bit of lip back the other way if we win? Not until the third page did I read a non-arrogant post and that poster almost got banned for derailing the thread. Pics of snow flake icecreams, GIFs of Clarrie ‘staging’, campaigning to boo him all day. Constant jokes about them knocking us out of finals last year by a goal or two and they will repeat it on Sunday. I could go on, I hope we see you smiling at the end of the game.

Not a name you’d expect to feature as a ‘ follow me type of player’ but in my opinion Melksham has the ability to turn a tide with his precise kicking for goal or passing. Often when we struggle with delivery going forward the Snake bobs up with a goal from nowhere and is really good at lowering the eyes. Maybe more of a ‘Game Breaker’ forward of centre.

Hogan 2018 season over with foot injury
Dee Zephyr replied to Lord Ivanhoe's topic in Melbourne Demons
If this is true and the medicos had half a clue it was a navicular or a potentially serious injury why was he allowed to play out the game? -
I think @Redleg asked the same question earlier in the thread. I’m not sure this played a part in the limited rotations but this is what I noticed at the start of the third and maybe someone else can confirm. The first 2 goals of the third came within the first 4 minutes. I didn’t see any interchanges in that time. I think Tyson and Hunt were two of the players on the bench. The next goal didn’t come until the 11minute mark or so and in that time Hunt and Tyson were pacing up and down waiting to come on and we simply couldn’t get a rotation. Now, that’s 11 minutes that have elapsed without a change, this could have occurred a couple of more times throughout the match.

Anyone on here get their ‘members’ name on the jumper? I hope we win this week otherwise it won’t end well come round 23 when you read the below from the MFC article. The reason it will be worn in the final round is part of ‘Member thank you round’.

For real?? St Kilda??? Did they give reasons and what they are basing this on? From 2012-2017 Saints have won 50 games and we have won 39.

Vent your anger here first (responsibly). We listen....sort of. Save the draft, you never know, we might still get to September.
-
Sorry, meant bad as in season done for Jesse. Guess we’ll find out soon, thanks for the reply. Not sure we have a capable/suitable replacement for these massive two weeks coming up.
-
I noticed a similar post Cards by you on another thread. You seem to have good info, like the heads up on Melksham’s hamstring issue. Is it that bad with Jesse?

Can’t wait for the Spring Carnival to be honest, having a tough time following our Demons at the moment, can’t imagine how we could handle September if we made it. Anyways, here’s a list of big races that Santos is nominated in, why not aim high when your horse is trained by the Waterhouse/Bott combo. Golden Rose Stakes [Group 1] 1400m 22nd September Caulfield Guineas 1600m 13th October Ladbrokes Cox Plate 2040m 27 October [49kg] I will update on lead-up races as they come to hand. Could be a very exciting Spring. The horse is not guaranteed to be running in any of the above races but mapping out a prep is essential. Hopefully it all goes to plan.

Heeney- • Does he smell? • Is he invisible? • Man him up!!

@MSFebey G’day mate. If you couldn’t keep up last week with all the new topics, how are all those new ones going post match?

He’s 100% correct on the below. These run ons kill us every time and we react way too late. “I was expecting to see a fight to the death attitude from my side given where they were. “I saw a passive acceptance of Sydney kicking the ball to whoever they wanted, wherever they wanted, and once again, they gave up seven goals in a row. “That’s the disappointment right there.”

Wanted: The Hail Mary Kick-in with 1 minute to go
Dee Zephyr replied to TGR's topic in Melbourne Demons
I’ll harp on this until I turn blue in the face. All of us behind the goals in the last have lost our voice at trying to get someone, anyone to go near him. At worst, by putting a body on him Heeney is moved from the square and not roasting marshmallows. -
Out : Hunt (inj?) Spargo, Pedersen In: Melksham, Hibberd, Kent/Hannan Hibbo and Melksham put in a solid training session Saturday morning. They were out on the track before the main group and continued to train hard well after the group was gone. Intense running exercises and ball skills. From that observation they seem ready to go. I’d give Garlett one more go. At least he looked dangerous in a small patch during the last quarter. He seemed switched on for a few minutes albeit too late but was taken off just when I thought he could cause some damage. Instead Spargo was kept on and was struggling to kick over a jam tin.

This was very similar to the Round 1Cats loss. Allowed the Swans to control the tempo in the second and third quarters. Easy exits out of defence with short precise kicks and had us going side to side aimlessly. Structures were non existent in that period. @Lucifer's Hero is pretty much spot on after what I saw from ground level. The lapse cost us Round 1 and it cost us today. Yes we kicked bad but I can’t hang my hat on that. If one of those is a goal, ball is back in the centre and who knows what happens. We had a chance to win the game but let’s not get fooled by the last quarter. Swans were hanging on for dear life with 2 less men.....and to allow Heeney to camp in the goalsquare for the entire term on his own is astounding. We didn’t send one player to at least stand next to him and impede him at all. Edit: This is an opinion on today only. I still believe we can win the last two with Hibbo and Melksham back.

Fair enough @Macca I thought about starting the ‘Monkey Business’ thread but it’s a bit difficult articulating without promoting the gambling aspect. It seems like a separate thread is needed if we are to keep posting sports multis, odds and specials on various sports. Topics on the main footy forum have posters constantly posting odds ( guilty myself on that aspect a few times) and of course it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I’m all open to more ideas on how we can get the thread started. With spring around the corner the thoroughbred talk will be in full swing on here. I’m happy to tone it down and stick on topic.

MCC predicting 49,000. Let’s make some noise and take back the ‘G’.

The tonic for my Game Morning nerves has worked a treat since the Geelong game. Find a song and let it repeat for 5 hours. Mine is High Hopes by Panic! At the Disco. Hoping for another decent lead at the first break and making the Swans chase the rest of the game.

Casey Demons v Sandringham - Round 19
Dee Zephyr replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
That makes sense. From all reports he trained and looked fine on Thursday, we were hoping his absence today wasn’t anything serious. -
Casey Demons v Sandringham - Round 19
Dee Zephyr replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hannan is the held over emergency and he trained fully this morning at Goschs whereas Vanders was a no show. If Hannan is a late in for Vanders tomorrow which player do we hold over since all other emergencies played today at Casey?
