  1. For me the issue of where Mifsud got the information from isn't the problem. I would imagine in a football club there would be hundreds of stories (true or false) floating around, the problem is that an AFL employee was spreading them to the media and the media were publishing them.
  2. I know it's Good Friday, but do we still have any Moderators?
  3. Well my concerns were correct, I just didn't know it would be racist and sexist internet rants that would bring about their downfall.
  4. Probably a bit too Mardi Gras, but I like the thinking.
  5. Under the extraordinary circumstances of this week, I would have been happy if the club kept this one quiet and just listed him as injured for the week.
  6. If anyone can think of a better name or even a logo (anyone with Photoshop skills) please feel free to share. I want this to be about the supporters as much as possible so the more input the better.
  7. I'm looking forward to the debut games of Mifsud and Polis.
  8. All sounds good. Give me the Easter weekend to suss a few things out and then hopefully get in contact with the club and get feedback.
  9. Let's not get too complex. I think the easiest way is to set up a site through the club and have donations (with a tally board) under the banner of "Supporter Aliance" (or whatever it gets called). Depending on feedback from the club, maybe we should set a target figure to reach, even if we don't reach that amount the club still has that money as a donation at the very least. This keeps the whole process clean and simple.
  10. The club would have about 1,000 more important things to deal with at the moment, give me a chance to look into further and for the club to have a chance to assess it properly if I do put it forward.
  11. Ideally yes, but I would say that the damage is already done, even with a new CEO the "that company" brand is very much damaged goods.
  12. That's right, it's not a long-term solution but rather a show of support and small financial contribution. If you don't like the idea that's fine, don't contribute that's OK (I won't hold it against you), but if this is to get off the ground I don't need every second person saying how bad the idea is, please keep it to yourself.
  13. I'm sorry, as suss on this deal as I was from early on, not looking on the Facebook page of Polis isn't one of my main concerns.
  14. Yes it would be through the club, like I wrote in an earlier post a "Debt Demolition" type site or process would be needed.
  15. No. In fact, I was very skeptical of the "that company" deal and said so on here. My point is, what's done is done, we need to look forward.
  16. Thomo, we get it. You're not happy. Some of us are trying to help, you're just carrying like the drunk uncle at Christmas.
  17. My thinking would be something similar to how the club did Debt Demolition. A site like that (possibly the same one), if we can raise (let's say $5,000) then maybe the club will let us feature a "Supporter Alliance" (name can be changed) logo on the sponsor page of the site. Even if enough money isn't raised the club still keeps it. Again, it's a sign of support and trying to generate something good for what has been a month of pain.
  18. That's a good idea, I like that. That's all I was after really, by "sponsorship" it really was just a donation but under the "Supporter Alliance" banner to highlight the support for the club.
  19. Please delete this thread, was a silly idea.
  20. Just to clarify, it wouldn't replace any jumper sponsors, just go on top of and act as a signal of support.
  21. This is an idea I have had for a while, if you think it's rubbish that's fine but I just want to put it out there following the events of today. I know a lot of us out there have put a lot of our own hard earned money into the Melbourne Football Club through memberships and the recent Debt Demolition. However, I am proposing a "Supporter Alliance" whereby we supporters donate money (however little) under this banner and sponsor the club. The money wouldn't be anywhere near what the club will have lost from "that company" but at the very least it is a sign of support Again, I fully understand that many people feel they have given their fair share and that's fine, if you feel that way please just keep those thoughts to yourself. This is an opportunity to support (figuratively and financially) the club on top of memberships other areas, even if what is raised is just a small donation (not a "sponsorship" as such), the club needs some good news after all that it has been dragged through recently. As a starting point, I am willing to donate $200 to get the ball rolling. Any thoughts or suggestions please let me know, if it is a rubbish idea I will just donate the money privately and you can lock the thread.
  22. Staying with EnergyWatch will be more of a financial compromise than removing their sponsorship.
  23. Does anyone know how much a lesser sponsorship (say Bronze) is worth?
