For all those saying pick 20 is "overs", they may be technically correct, but the problem is we don't have a pick 26 or 27 (which is what the market may dictate his value to be). It is rare that a player is traded for exact value, especially when he nominates a club.

I've said a similar thing but comparing him to Dane Swan. Simply that Swan doesn't have the body or the skills of Sylvia yet he never stops running, is rarely flat footed and always runs hardest in his first five steps. No reason why Sylvia can't do the same.

The difference is Dawes is contracted and Wellingham was not.

People forget quickly just how rubbish Melbourne were this year. Being worried about pick 20 being "overs" is silly, we would be getting an experienced, strong and proven forward who would be a pillar to the team's structure.

I love the fact that we are getting two premiership players who will show most of the list just what hard work really means. Having said all that I have a sick feeling in my stomach that we won't get a deal done with Collingwood who will hold out and keep Dawes.

People need to remember before we got Clark we were chasing Dawes. If we can have both that would be a huge bonus and would set the forward structure for the next five years with Hogan coming through.

Because often the problem isn't just the midfield. Without targets in the forward line there is no point kicking it in (especially the quick kick forward).

I think that sums up the Bailey era.

I just don't see it with Fitzpatrick. He has some very good attributes (speed in particular), but his negatives (mainly disposal) far outweigh the good.

What about Morton for the law firm: Trent Dennis-Lane? Just throwing it out there.

I think Hogan will be good, but he will still take time. You can't expect him to hold down a key position consistently from day dot.

White would be cheap as chips, if we can't get Dawes or Pedersen I would be keen to at least have a look.

I have no idea who Brett Meridith is, but I like the deal already.

I don't see why we can't have three big forwards in the one team, especially as it is unlikely all three will be fit at the same time.

I came on to write the exact same thing. His acceleration looks extremely good. It's been an issue of mine recently with Melbourne players such as Trengove and Watts who do not put enough in to their first five steps. Viney will shake the midfield up next year.

He's not big or smart enough.

Hogan's kicking action isn't great (from the very little footage I've seen). Hopefully it can be tightened up next year.

I still hope we can use pick 20 on Dawes or "Doors" as I'm sure Bluey will call him in an attempt at humour.
