This is the problem, the small things are exactly what is holding us back. We don't to the small things that the good teams do. To be perfectly honest, the fact that we even have to ask our players to do these small things at the highest level is a disgrace.

Every team could say that about every game, it's a cop out.

Changes For Next Week
Straight Sets Simon replied to Straight Sets Simon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Someone writes this every week, we get it. -
From my best 22 the missing players were: Tyson vandenBerg Frost Kent Petracca Jetta That's a few for sure, but all teams have injuries and no matter who is playing the non-negotiable things such as tacking, chasing, sprinting, talking and shepherding should be ingrained into every player who pulls on the jumper.

i want an apology from the club

I agree, great he responded and bombarding him with emails isn't great but maybe some of them will be passed on to the players? -

I know, I need to get a 12 month ban from here. -

I'm thinking that I will take 2016 off from football. I will buy my membership, but I will not attend games, I will try not to watch games (Melbourne or otherwise) and I will stop posting on and reading here. -
Delistings/trades at end of the season

I do like Grimes as frustrating as he can be, but one thing he needs to do is put on some serious muscle and get back to his 2011 size. He's far too small and weak at the moment. -

I have shared this before, but feel it would be good to write again after reading your post. My better half is a primary school teacher and after the Geelong win the kids were doing some free drawing as it was near the end of term. My missus noticed that one little boy was drawing a Melbourne jumper, so she asked him why he was drawing this. He looked up and with a big grin said "Because we won." At this same school there are over 700 students and each year when everyone dresses up in their footy team colours you will be lucky to see 10 wearing red and blue. This includes kids who wear their local team colours which happen to be Melbourne's. I just hope that sooner rather than later we can start attracting more supporters through winning and playing well as opposed to just relying on family. -
I implore everyone to watch this video, ignore the Murphy injury and just watch what Vince does (or doesn't do) after he handballs back to Harmes. Perfectly sums Melbourne up.

I remember when (an antidote for today)
Straight Sets Simon replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
I remember when we beat Geelong in Geelong, thrashed the Bulldogs at MCG, walked all over Richmond and made Gary Ablett and the Suns look second rate. That feels like years ago. -
Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
Straight Sets Simon replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
A few people have mentioned that here over the past couple of months. In a strange way it actually offers the players more continuity as Goodwin is the man going forward. -
I've decided to go back and watch our round 8 win against the Bulldogs, we are a different looking team from then. Also, don't underestimate the difference vandenBerg has made, he's a ruthless machine who adds so much to our team.

Ramifications of a loss this weekend
Straight Sets Simon replied to True Heart's topic in Melbourne Demons
The problem is that it's hardly a protest when no one will turn up to the game anyway. I might go to the game as a form of protest and I will always be a member, but I won't always go to games (unless to do the said protest). -
I didn't see all the game but I think I got the gist of it. By the way, Howe won't be dropped just like Frawley wasn't last year. Out: Lumumba (injured), Garland, Harmes, Brayshaw In: Jetta, Jamar, JKH, Tyson EDIT: Updated.

I just want to take moment to say what a jet KC is, seriously you add far more to this site than most of us ever could and your efforts are greatly appreciated. -

I don't hate the idea because this kind of ruthlessness isn't in Melbourne's DNA, but with the type of talent that Hogan is I'd like us to try and do everything we can to keep him. -

Delist: Matt Jones (pay out) Terlich (pay out) Riley Bail Fitzpatrick Hunt (rookie spot if lucky) Garland (or walk as RFA) McKenzie Grimes Retire: Jamar Cross Will be traded: Toumpas (might get a fourth round pick in return if lucky, otherwise delist or rookie) Howe Should look at trading if right deal comes along: Tom McDonald Watts Dawes Rookies: vandenBerg (promoted already) Harmes (another year on rookie list if possible) King (another year on rookie list if possible) White (no idea) -
If there was any chance he would come here, after today he wouldn't dare do it.

186 is in danger next week. Melbourne will be lucky to kick four goals for the game.

I agree, the silence from club about players being sick was deafening. Just come out and say it, don't use it as an excuse but at lease be open with your members. -

I genuinely want to hear from the players, not excuses but reasons. Like why do they choose to not run, not tackle, not chase, not lead, not shepherd, not talk and not care?
