A couple of weeks ago an 18 yr old drafted this year was being hailed as a champion because he coolly slotted a winning goal...the name escapes me just at the moment, just for the record by the way, some media had Macrae being well held by Nicholson....notice you have decided to leave out Liberatore why?

Anger only produces stupid comments in posts, Roos was angry but he made sure his comments were measured, when we decide to play our decision making and skills are excellent, frustrated me, rather than angry
-
Gotta love a loss, 14 pages of hand wringing, again, listen to Roos's presser, sums everything up perfectly, not sure what some posters expected, finals?...maybe the coach is 'just a naughtly boy'......I expected about 5 wins this year, and then a harsh reassessment at season's end by the Footy Dept

The Demon Army present had Roos' birthday covered, seems Roos' answer to me was pretty straight, was going to make Barry emergency but had to check on Tommy Mc first, there is a whole new regime there now, you ask a question, you get an answer, don't think they really care about any ramifications, the Welsh tirade and Allison's reviews being examples..

Que?...that is his reply...ask Nev a question and you get a really good answer...

The only news is that he looks like he is doing everything asked of him by the fitness staff, has longs chats with them in between running the boundary, think he finished earlier today because last week think he [censored] himself off watching the team train
-
I forgot there was an interested spectator at training, just looked like a jogger heading back from the tan, took me a second or two to realise it was Alistair Lynch, he still looks in great shape, had a good chat to Roos, Rawiings and Mathews before training started
-
Gut feeling is for once I have no idea, the Tommy Mc situation is a bit of a spanner, last week only Terlich trained with the main group and the rest trained with Casey, this week all of the extended bench trained with main group, perhaps Roos actually hasn't made his mind up yet, when I asked him about Barry, he did think for a second or two before saying 'maybe' so it wasn't a glib reply The Casey group I only saw at the end, they were still all pretty upbeat, I would assume they will still have to perform under the Roos' regime, I am sure none of them would like the ignominy of Development league, I asked a couple of the 'helpers', it was a good solid session they did

Couple of bits I forgot, Gawn worked with Jamar and Stafford and played forward in the drills Slightly off topic, the 'over excited' new father assured me he would keep trying until he got a son

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 15
Satyriconhome replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
See the training thread, think Tommy Mc is doubtful -
Reason why Georgiou is on the extended bench, looks like there is an issue with Tommy Mc, he had a compression bandage on his calf and did very little training, before heading back indoors, Chip also did work with the defence....so Roos looking at options. Interestingly Riley, Salem, Barry and Terlich did a lot of work with the forwards, maybe for 'whoever' was watching, (I am sure oppositions are only interested in the midfield these days anyway, unless there is a gun halfback to look after), I lost Nicholson in this drill, but he was out there I asked Paul Roos about Barry getting a game and he said maybe, asked Dom Barry himself, he hasn't been told anything, there was no announcement at training, so maybe just a bit of encouragement this time and he will be an emergency I asked Nev Jetta about that first goal against Norths (as requested), the team rule if the ball is in that situation (ie in the pocket, inside the 50) is to get it over the line and out of bounds, this rule was not followed, then it was turned over and the defensive structure was not set, as they had been expecting to set up for a boundary throw in, this sounds slow in writing but in real time it all transpired in about 5 or 10 seconds, Roos wants them to be proactive rather than reactive but unfortunately if somebody doesn't follow the rules, it throws a spanner in, hence why after the first few goals, team went reactive not wanting to stuff up The team received 2 sprays, a decent one at 3/4 time and the other I would assume at the review, Roos was 'bitterly disappointed' (my words) with the failure to follow team rules and structures An interesting little highlight, in one drill Max Gawn was matched up on Ben Mathews, and he proceeded to knock him over, much to other players amusement, but in the next play, Mathews beat Gawn cold with movement and took an uncontested mark, gave Max a look as if to say "you have a lot to learn"......he spoilt it a bit by producing a horrible kick Jesse Hogan was out early, still lap running, and some Casey players and MFC listed players for Casey this weekend, except the extended bench, trained before main group and finished about 10 Any questions feel free.

Carey comes from Wagga, NSW, yes he played his early football in SA, but thought the 'lfestyle' would have suited him better in Sydney, you can claim to meet anyone in a book, the fact that he signed neither of them when they have always had the financial clout to do so I think says more, we do not need distractions at the moment, will assume if Roos goes for the 'big name' it will be someone who only performs on the field

I put this in my training report the other day, the FD is pleased with Dom's progress, he has been given negating roles in the last couple of weeks and he is getting a good handle on it, maybe not enough weeks of consistency yet, but Dom told me he is enjoying the roles he has been given, and really would like to debut this season, think the club is working on him, only just turned 20, so there is a lot of upside if they 'build' him properly...saying that would love to see him this week.....
-
I hope you are joking, Roos would not go for 'characters' as they were in their playing days
-
Not an avid reader of the Club website then? Evans had a tagging role a couple of weeks ago, and he was solid according to Brett Allison
-
No you won't, there are reasons he hasn't been picked up by other clubs previous to this season after nominating for the draft last year
-
From Roos' presser today, "Terlich will probably come back in", "disappointing that the seconds were so poor at the weekend", so I reckon will be a minimum of 2 ins, who the second one is will be anyones guess
-
Does that make you feel good behind your keyboard does it, have bookmarked ready for the next 'spud' who comes in from Casey As a defender of players normally it may surprise some for me to say that Garland is in very poor form at the moment, but agree he is probably his own harshest critic, although I don't think Roos counts if you are in the leadership group or not if he thinks you need 'a rest'

My 3 word player analysis V North Melbourne
Satyriconhome replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
So you didn't want Nev standing goal side then?, if you are playing the a team, you have to expect others to come back and block, that again is what went wrong yesterday The umps are watching for holds, blocks etc. so assume the defenders have to be careful these days, unfortunately I will ask Nev what his instructions were if I get the chance -
I assume if you are going to send this suggestion the Club that you will have your cheque book ready to assist a. for the cost of the extra players we would need for a standalone side b. to pay Richmond the 'inducement' c. to pay the MCG staff for the extra hour they have to be on duty, killing our gate receipts

My 3 word player analysis V North Melbourne

...let me think, stopping the other team from kicking between the big white sticks....no, not a lot, 22 players playing as a team....no not a lot, looking for scapegoats when your team loses....no, not a lot -

Thanks NB, that's why I watch the game from up in the top stand, a lot of supporters watch the end result rather than how it transpired, Nahas got one goal and a dodgy free kick, so soundly beaten is a bit strong, unfortunately the whole defence, our AA defender in Dunn, were made to look very ordinary yesterday I don't have blind love for Nev Jetta, just a good understanding of footy and what it's like to be a small defender, except it was called back pocket when I played -

Obvously watching different games, so you prefer holding free kicks, you can't put body on if he has acres of space to run into, I have spoken to most of the defence what they have actually enjoyed this year has been the pressure down the ground and the midfield and forwards getting back to plug holes, giving them to opportunity to work as a team, this is exactly what went wrong yesterday, listen to what Roos, Vince and Watts said, we had 22 individuals. For Nahas first goal he came from the other side of the 50 unhindered -

No, you are being silly, Nahas is not that good, and I never said that, I said he can turn on a sixpence both ways, so you stay off him a bit and watch the movement, but if the ball is coming in unhindered and you have to stay behind your man, you are stuffed. Nahas is getting games with North, makes a good foil for the talls and Thomas that's why the structure worked once North got the ball on the outside, we did fix it up eventually, you did watch the game? Against both Port and Adelaide we controlled the footy coming in, lot easier for defenders to control their men -

Nev played two steps off him because Nahas can turn on a sixpence, the early goals happened because the ball came unhindered from the middle and Norths had their forward structure working perfectly, once we sorted that out the service stopped, until the 3rd qtr, when it fell to bits again as fatigue set in and then we fixed it up in the 4th again
