What to do with Petracca?
I like his intensity when shifted into the midfield, it provides us with something different and gives us a bit of explosion in there. Could replace Jones as a mid.

Honesty can only help so much but it cant buy speed.

Our Recruiting.
We could have got pick 5 for Hogan and take Rozzee. Looks a player. May was a silly trade. Paid overs for someone not very good. Baffling. Overs for Lever who had already had an ACL history, baffling. We were in a great position to continue drafting quality kids whilst restocking our KP back roles through free agency and mature recruits. We couldve and shouldve had a dynasty. Roos must be kicking himself.

POSTGAME: Rd 1 vs Port Adelaide
Posters bagged Petracca all pre-season saying he looked heavy. To all those posters you were 110% spot on. He looked to be moving like the OX post ACL. It is obvious Petracca needs to slim down and regain some explosiveness, otherwise he is only just a VFL player.

Harmes post game interview.
Harmes was excellent today. I dont care what he says post match. When it counted on the field James harmes stepped up. Shame not many joined him.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Yeah he does. But. We should inquire as to the availability of Nick Hayne (GWS). I would rate him as good a prospect as Lever. So we have more than one card to play here. Whether the club play it or not. But I would. As to Lever, he did ok today - below his best (but ok). Rance was important for Richmond, and Lever is miles ahead of Rance at this stage of his career. Lever is quality. The thing is, so is Haynes, and can we find other key position back man of quality - in order to make Adelaide believe we aren't do or die on this deal? We need to drive this price (picks wise) down.

Josh Kelly
I reckon Kelly will end up a better player than both those two. Kelly is the only young player in the league I'd take ahead of them. Watch him this year. He will go close to overtaking both of them. Kid is a jet.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
Hibberd is twice the player Melksham is. Ive watched most Essendon games the past 15 years (my old man is an Essendon fanatic). He laughed when they lost Melksham, he wasnt laughing when he found out they were losing Hibberd. Hibberd is actually a gun, he is very very good.

I dont mind it but it we blink first then it signals to other clubs that we will relent. I look at GC and this year they have teams falling over themselves to offer overs. These teams know that the nutbrain CEO they have aint going to pander to them. GC are now even knocking back ridiculous overs for players, theyll get double the value than if these players left other clubs.

On the AFL site it says the Hibberd deal has stalled over Essendon wanting our second round pick (This years), and we are only offering next years second round pick. So atm we are playing a game of chicken.

If we arent prepared to lose out on Hibberd then just give them our second. Otherwise hold out until the last day and potentially keep this years second round pick. For all we know Jason Taylor could have someone in mind for this years draft.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Big props to Knightmare off big footy for idenifying this one early. Peaked my interest WAY before we taken him. So props to Knightmare. Oliver has a stubborn, one way mindset, I knew he would punish the selectors for dropping him. Most players would drop their head, this kid does the opposite - same as when he was overlooked for nationals in under 18s, responded by dominating TAC cup. Has that Jack Viney approach to life. We will smash GWS with kids like Oliver, Viney and Hogan.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
Frawley was a solid and reliable defender. But he was a limited footballer, a poor kick and an average decision maker. The Dunn Show managed to surpass Frawley in the space of a year, I'd take Dunn before Frawley. To lose Frawley and pick up Brayshaw is a magnificant result. MFC has been fortunate, luck fell our way when GWS taken Scully off our hands as well.

I feel the same, we've finally drafted the right type of guys. It has taken us a good decade to draft some bigger bodies early - but we should reap the rewards. Petracca looks like a bull and Brayshaw looks every bit another Dustin Martin/Oliie Wines type player.

Don't worry, i'll be around to wipe the egg off their faces over the next couple of years.

One thing I see in Jimmy Toumpas is his passion and drive. Toumpas is hard on himself - and probably to a fault. But I don't think Toumpas will let these next batch of kids overtake him. I reckon these young kids in Petracca and Brayshaw will bring the best out of Toumpas. Toumpas is competitive, I see it in him, that competitiveness just hasn't quite transferred over to the field - but I think it will. To my eye, Toumpas looks like he has no core - absolutely none. I would be worried about this if he hadn't had crook hips - and had a fair run at things, but he hasn't had a fair run. Given an injury free pre-season I agree with you, I think Toumpas will be a gun.

Yeah, that is possible... But, Brayshaw has a FAR superior inside game to both Scully and Trengove - and Brayshaw compares well with Martin/Wines, who have transitioned very well into the AFL. Brayshaw does all the 1% plays, he tackles, gathers, crashes, bashes, he is a go-getter - and a dual sided player. IMO Brayshaw is an even safer bet than Jack Viney was. Petracca is more likely to bust than Brayshaw - but also has a higher ceiling. But even drawing comparisons between Petracca and Scully/Trengove, I'd say that Petracca is no doubt the better athlete - and one of the better athletes to comes through since Dangerfield - and also Petracca is physically stronger than Scully/Trengove, arguably better on the inside than both, and stronger in nearly all areas. Trengove was definately classier than Petracca, and hit more targets, looked more silkier - but Petracca is FAR more damaging on the scoreboard than either Scully or Trengove was. In watching a fair amount of Scully pre-draft, a little bit of Trengove and Petracca, I'd say that Petracca is more dominant than Scully/Trengove. One thing that stood out in Petraccas highlights is his confidence and absolute dominance on the field.

I wish Toumpas had Petracca's strength through the core. Who knows, maybe Toumpas is just playing catch up after hip surgery a couple years back. But if we get the best out of Jimmy Toumpas and Christian Petracca, we'll be a very dangerous football side.

Awesome. Must have a hell of a leap on him if he can dunk it so easily at 186. Powerful and athletic bull. Perfect.

I wouldn't read too much into the IQ, Petracca has probably been involved in sports at an early age - and neglected study. What most term to be a negative - could be a positive. Billings didn't seem the sharpest tool in the shed last year (based on the draft profiles), yet he was a top 5 performer in 2014. Dustin Martin couldn't even read.
