  1. An "ashen faced" bootstudder?
  2. It's very hard to gauge a player's performance when watching on TV as often you see the outcome but not the process that led to it. So did Chip play well or not? Not sure, on the face of it holding Brown to 3 goals is not a bad effort. As for calls to chop Chip...given our stocks and what's possibly available for other clubs I don't see that as a win for us. What would be great to see (sooner rather then later) is Chip starting to enjoy his footy again.
  3. Tom Scully makes feel like I'm 208 cm tall. I see him, and I just want to throw up!
  4. All this "punchable in the head" stuff I find a little bit distasteful...is it possible that we can have an option to "burn at the stake"?
  5. Having spoken with the researchers from the Sunday Night show and they are looking for more participants for the study. So if anyone is interested in participating in the Deakin study on concussions then the details are as follows: The aim of the study is to compare central nervous system integrity, motor and cognitive functions to age-matched who've not previously received a concussion. They are looking for males aged between 40 to 65 years of age, 3-distinct groups: Retired players at the community level who've received a concussion injury during play Retired players at the elite level (AFL/VFL or equivalent) who've received a concussion injury during play People who not received a concussion during their lifetime (control group) The study involves: One visit (approximately 60 minutes) to Deakin University, Burwood Campus Measures to be taken include: Health and history of concussion questionnaires Memory testing on a tablet computer Fine motor dexterity assessment Non-invasive brain stimulation For further information please call Dr. Alan Pearce ph 03 9251 7224, email [email protected]
  6. Here's the link for people who're interested... http://au.news.yahoo.com/sunday-night/video/watch/c299b651-1129-3986-a9a4-1e146547279a/the-price-of-playing-the-game/
  7. "Adrian set up the AFL integrity unit and that unit is recognised as a gold standard in Australian sport," he said. I shudder to think what the silver and bronze standards are like.
  8. "Mr McLachlan said if any person came forward with new evidence involving clubs acting in a manner which was prejudicial to the interests of the AFL, the AFL’s integrity department would examine any such evidence." So I guess Terry's OK then. Because he publicly admitted "conduct unbecoming", but it's in the past?
  9. Well picked up. Summarises what a pathetic, confused and unsatisfactory saga this was.
  10. Not really sure rfpc...but if he's a (club that shall remain nameless for legal reasons) fan I hope he doesn't drown when the (pep)tides come in.
  11. Maybe they've fumbled the pages?
  12. Brendan's looking good for the Best & Fairest...are the bookies still making a market?
  13. My field of business sees me working in with neuropsychologists rehabilitating athletes who have suffered sporting brain injuries. On the question of NFL v AFL hits the feedback is that yes - there are more frequent hits in NFL, however because of the rotational forces involved in rugby and AFL, the consequences of the hits can be even worse - it has a shearing effect on structure of the brain.
  14. Yes Dan, haven't stirred up my Bomber fan mates about this issue...the last thing an Essendon person requires right now is a little needle.
  15. I'm with you HG, to me Clisby's style of movement does look similar to Pavlich's.
  16. Harridan's accurate (thanks Ben Hur, that ones going into the vocabulary), but if you're calling her a "bike" then that's simply not appropriate Roger.
  17. "On the thread topic, I don't think we do ourselves any favours using words like "trollop" Perhaps not, unless used as an abbreviation of "Troll Operation", in which case it's quite apt.
  18. The recruitment of a new player represents a huge investment by a club's football department in terms of financial resources, time and opportunity cost. From a player's perspective an AFL career is a huge opportunity, they need to be able to convince a prospective club that they recognise the opportunity and that they will fully commit to making the most of that opportunity. It's all well and good having raw natural talent, however without the requisite drive to make the best of themselves a player is likely to be found wanting at the highest level. Given that daft social media posting (a picture tells a thousand words), Garlett's now the one who needs to "harden up" if he's serious about an AFL career.
  19. What on earth would possess you to post THAT on a public medium? Attached Thumbnails Like This Quote MultiQuote
  20. Not necessarily a breach, but this could have a huge impact on Carlton's salary cap... "The manager of Carlton captain Chris Judd will fight the AFL's decision not to approve a new third party arrangement between the Brownlow medallist and club sponsor Visy. The League confirmed on Friday morning any new deal involving Judd and the company could no longer be excluded from the Blues' additional services agreement (ASA) limit or total player payments (TPP)." The article goes on to claim that the Judd-Visy deal is worth $250,000 per annum (refuted by management). If that were true then I wonder what the going rate is per minute? http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/151194/default.aspx
  21. How about Cameron Banfield? Some of the mock drafts are placing him around the mid-30's, however he could slide down to our 3rd rounders. What does he offer? Good tackler Good foot skills Pace Could be a good addition to the list as a small defender, especially after the sad news of Clint's retirement. And yes...he's a Dee's supporter!
  22. Hmm could be one for the Demonland pollsters... Sociopath or Compulsive Liar? http://www.truthaboutdeception.com/lying-and-deception/confronting-a-partner/compulsive-lying/types-of-liars.html
