  1. A week earlier Bevo gave the dogs the mother of all sprays after their loss to the Kangas while everyone canned Goody for accepting Melbourne's loss to Port and his content with how we played. This week Goody gives it to them big time post match roast and everyone thinks, so what! It is all talk. He cannot win. Most agree that roasting post match only has an impact maybe once a season and constantly doing it loses the players and its effect. I am not defending Goodwin as this game was also lost at the selection table and picking Petty was in hindsight an error as he wasn't ready From a source who was present post match, Goodwin certainly did give it to them and no one was spared with the exception of Max. Last night Lewis accepted he didn't have his best game Sunday but finished stating that on a day when they played badly theyb lost by 2 points. He also let us know the harshest critics were from within at the review which was equally as brutal and honest on Monday morning Face it since Lever go injured we have not sorted out the defence both in personell and game play. I hope they find a solution and soon
  2. 6. Gawn - by the length of the MCG 5. Fritsch - our only forward today 4. Harmes - gut busting running 3. Viney - should never be wasted tagging someone 2. Hibberd 1. Oliver
  3. As well as Fyfe doing his hammy, Sandilands pulled out just before the start of the game with a calf injury he did in the warm-up. Out Sandilands, Fyfe
  4. Petty should not have been played. To watch him after the siren trudge on the ground with his head down was miserable. He was thrown to the wolves and his confidence will be shot. Harmes was patting him on the back but Petty knew he had had a mare. Joel Smith wasn't much better and mad too many mistakes and was continually outmarked. Dec or Frost should have been the option. Weid stays as he rucked ok and is the best 2nd ruck option relieving Max. His game wasn't as bad as ssome state here. Lewis is too slow for the backline unless he is an extra. The wing is as far back as he should go. Spargo must return
  5. The proposed parkland is where the club held its family day this season. It is a great location and much better suited to being an open park and oval. The only drawback is it is on quite a slope so no jokes about downhill skiers plaease.
  6. Jane02 wont kiss and tell but I will. Same source close to the Gaff family. If he returns to Melbourne MFC is preferred location. As RFA the Eagles can match whatever he is offered but historically very few if any clubs match offers made to RFA's. Sorry Jane
  7. If Gaff returns to Melbourne it will only to play with MFC despite what others offer atm.
  8. The only way Murphy would be shipped off by carlton as a FA is to get compensation picks. Whilst no-one knows the exact formula, a lot is related to the size of the contract. To gain high draft pick compo Murphy would have to get a fat pay check and long contract, which at his age is not going to happen. Spend our money on Jetta, Gus, Harmes & Oscar and go after a RFA aroung 26 years of age.
  9. Just another fluffy opinion piece. Not based on any serious journalistic info just expressing his opinion wgich we all think is no good
  10. The throw away line in the news articles is that this has the approval of the AFL. Last week on radio one pundit stated that PJ favoured a succession plan as did some at MFC but the AFL did not like this idea, for whatever reason. Maybe they thought Mahoney was a risk or lacked experience. Pert's credentials are impeccable and far more advanced than any of the internal candidates. In some ways the AFL still owns MFC and dictates our fixture, where we play and who we appoint to senior positions. There is still a little way to go before we start dictating who we play and when and where. This has AFL all over it
  11. You didn't mention Balic! I thought he was on a 1 year contract for this year. Agree McKenna if he cannot get on the park and similarly Vandenberg and when Gaff nominates MFC I suspect JHKH will be surplus too. Mitch King is a ruckman and they need time so doubt they would discard. Bernie and Pedo might get another year. Then there might be a left field decision like Jack Watts last year which no-one saw coming
  12. A great production and I am grateful it didn't start on time so I could listen from start to finish. The range of questions was perfect and Roos as always candid and honest. I laughed when MFC syndrome was mentioned and liked Roos reply that this is not the same club that we remember back in those dark days. This is the start of the journey of stiving for ultimate success over the next 5 years. Well done team
  13. You could always disconnect the T.V. or cancel the Foxtel Jane02. Maybe you will get revenge come finals time
  14. RE Tyson I saw two VFL reports in one Tyson wasn't mentioned in the other his name was first as our best. I suspect in one report his name was missed out. He comes in because he adds a different style to the midfield. We had too many at the contest and not enough on the outside which is where we got smashed every time to ball dribbled out of the scrum. Through the binoculars Jones went to De Goey in the first quarter and got pantsed. Viney tagged him in the second half. So with Viney and Gus playing as taggers we lost lots of midfield possession. Viney only has a left foot and buckley ensured they stood on his left side as he was constatntly trying to get on his left side when he got possession and got tackled. Who do we bring in who has form and adds to the team or structures up well against Port. A tall backman, Frost for me. An outside mid, Tyson and a second ruck with height, Weid. So in Frost, Tyson & Weid. Out Bernie, Pedo, Hannan or Harmes and move Salem up to the midfield
  15. Since it was asked, I will put my hand up as a Watts fan and constant defender of the critisicm against him. I commented to my son after watching last weeks Port game how little Jack contributed and while I am sorry to see him dropped I am not surprised based on the way he is playing. While Jack was at Melbourne I was happy to defend him and look at the positives and answer some of the vitriol this ssite can pour on our players, especially one who loved the club as much as he did. Players usually don't go out with the intent to play bad games but they may fall short of our lofty expectations. Jack may have gone at pick 1 but he hasn't been able to fullfill the promise we wanted. He is not alone there though as many other number 1 picks have fallen short of expectation. I am delighted that his departure allowed Bailey Fritch to join the club and as Jack is no longer a demon he isn't on my radar. It does at this stage validate Goodwin's assessment of where Jack is at with his footy though. Move on and note that 2 of the emergencies are Jack Trengove and Jimmy Toumpas
  16. Agree that in his 4th game he showed a bit. Prefer him on the flank instead of Bernie rather than in the key position. We need to re-organise the backline and the loss of Lever is massive
  17. To the poster who asked about Oscar, he was off with concussion and blurred vision from early in the last quarter, which left the backline very short. I like Smith as a back flanker maybe instead of Bernie who has surprised me this year. I expected him to play less. Bring in a tall back for Bernie. Port have Ryder, Westoff and Dixon for us to cointend with and yesterday Cox was too big a task for Pedo. The backup ruckman looks to be shared between Weid, Smith and Pedo. The future is with Weid and he is taller. I wonder who will go to Jack Watts? We got smashed in the midfield and in the contests it was the same as the Hawthorn game with all our hard nuts drwan into the contest in over the ball and when it flips out we have no-one on the outside and the ball runs free. WE stopped running an played mark and kick stuff again. That is fixable. I also don't think Melksham was 100% as at qurter time and 3 quarter time he was having a lot of work on his lower leg. I expect that after the break we will have plenty to choose from Out: Pedo, Bernie and Trac (playing on reputation and his delivery under pressure has been poor not sure how many tackles he makes either) In Weid, Frost/Petty/Declan (take your pic) and Garlett. Garlett will never be outstanding at casey but he will bring pace into the team
  18. My daughter is going and I will be doing some volunteer work at the G around 1 when all the walkers descend on the G. Get your beanie at Fed square and be there Go Dees
  19. When I first read this I was annoyed by a few things. Ed as usual taking his argument public rather than negotiating with MFC in private. Yes I appreciate MFC getting the home game and the finances for the last 20 years but looking back early on the crowds weren't there and the fixture was in doubt because Collingwood supporters didn't attend our home game. It is Ed's sense of entitlement that annoys me. Now it is a genuine blockbuster Eddy wants in on the cash. In a fair deal moving forward I have no problem sharing the gate in the future and expect we play each other twice. Given that the ANZAC eve game is our other blockbuster the home game for us should coincide with us being away aginst Richmond. Will Ed be prepared to give up another of his MCG blockbuster games or does he want another MCG game. We have been at the G our home once in the last 6 weeks and that was as the away team. If he wants to negotiate what is he prepared to give up. My perception is that he doesn't think the MND game will go beyond this year. He has stated that he is happy to let us have this year but is he imlpying it wont happen next year and I thought the AFL managed the fixture. If they get the home game on Queens birthday then I expect MFC to take the MND game to another game as we have owned it and marketed it and pay homage to one of our favourite sons. I know emotion rarely motivates the players but I really hope Viney is reminding everybody of what Collingwood did in the last game last season and makes sure it never happens again. Give them hell!!
  20. What a legend, so pleased to follow his career from start to finish. Still close to his team mates and their spiritual leader.
  21. What an awesome day and well done MFC. How well have this club embraced the N.T and did anyone notice (sorry if alreadu mentioned) that the club went to the trouble of getting the song recorded in the local dialect. They played it as we came on the ground. Channel 7's coverage of the pre game and story on translating "Grand old flag" intoArrernte language were first class. Go dees.
  22. That is a good win but we cannot expect to get 83 inside 50's every week and we were not that efficient with 41 scores. I still think we are too easy to score against and while we have the 2nd most points scored we are the in the bottom 7 for points scored against. Defence wins flags. We have played and beaten 4 of the current bottom five teams so there is so room for improvement if and when we get past Carlton. Then the tough stuff starts. Some random thoughts The team looks much better with Tommy Mac in and allows Hoges to roam far and wide. Oliver had a staggering 11 tackles which is uperb given he is such an attacking player. Fritch gets the ball and tackles. Gold Coast had Lynch out but he was their only major out but it is a concern that their NEAFL team did not score a goal against the Brisbane NEAFL team. I thought that was Harmes breakout game and his work rate was sensational. I really like Salem off the half back flank. Next week despite being at the G will be our 4th away game in a row, who does the draw? It is ok to still have lots of room for improvement after an 11 goal win but the real test is yet to come
  23. Re Viney he hasn't played under match conditions since late last year. He may well be fit to play this weekend but I will bet London to a brick that he will be mighty sore and may not come up the week after. So play limited time in the seniors or slightly longer at Casey.? I would leave it to the List load manager Charlie Allen to decide. I suspect the club will be looking at the fixture and deciding which strategy best has Viney ready for the next month and the likes of the Crows and Collingwood
  24. Too early to call who is more polished. When recruited together all they wanted to do was play in the same team. Trac does a knee in year 1 and is a season behind. Gus has a great first year, gets knocked out and basically loses a season and a bit. I would be interested to see how many games they have played tgether. On the weekend, don't forget Trac spent 4 days in hospital prior to playing and was a little sluggish. That was the best game I have seen from Gus since his first year so it is a bit early to call who is better. I seem them as 2 different styles of footballer who will compliment each other and form a very formidable team with Oliver and Viney in the midfield. I like that each brings something different to the mid field and hope Angus signs up soon.
  25. I heard on VFL report tonight that Col garland has returned to Tassie for personal reasons and will not coach the Casey VFLW team. As a long time servant of the club I hope that everything is ok with Colin.
