Cody Weightman (Drafted by Western Bulldogs)
TGR replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
When was the last time Melbourne didn't need outside run? Surely this should have been a theme in the past 3-4 years. -
He gave Nathan Jones a massive hit at the City End in 2018 for memory. If he can hurt the oppo, and kick goals...that is the minimum. I think he is a tad slow, which unless players are extra special in other facets, we should stay away from.

Two players that rarely showed anything at AFL level. JKH just didn't have zip for his size, and billy seemed to have a bit of headless chook about him. Frosty attracted criticism for turnover, but these guys could rarely hit targets either. These guys were only ever going to be role players at best. Richmond have shown that if you are going to be a role player you need to average B+. You need to fast (A or B Grade) and tough/strong defensively (A or B grade). JKH was probably a C grade all-rounder; whereas Stretch was only B+ with his speed. How professional clubs can hang on to players past their clear used-by date is beyond me. I hope GC picks them up and gives them a contract, but objectively, they aint and never were AFL level.

Yes. Wells got Tim Kelly for peanuts.
-
Gee, imagine the ratings if we were the Saints or Geelong? Wells continually brings home the bacon while spending peanuts.
-
Read what I posted. I didn't say he would be as quick.

Smith can still jog though, doesn't go to ground, and doesn't give away undisciplined 50s. Clarko knows there is still 18 months of bonefide value with Smith. In relation to Lewis, it was Trash and Treasure at the local Sunday Market.

No. The opponent with a straight flush can always fold.
-
No doubt. The club can’t afford failure in 2020. They are going all chips in. Problem is they have 2 pair.

Daniher is special. The right medical dept and payday is around the corner. Excited me more than Hogan ever has. Dont think we have the medical dept not a corner coming up.

Jon Ralph says Demons are effectively a basket-case team
TGR replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Another realist. We are building up to double figures nationwide. -

If you think I think we are going to rebound, you are delusional. I am not a part of ‘us’. ‘Us’ have patiently clapped the inevitable path to failure for 50 plus years. -

When we easily miss finals in 2020, and when the penny drops about Pert’s New 5 year plan, looking forward to all of you apologising to Agro the puppet. -
Did he ask Hirdy for the good stuff? Just love how club sycophants/apologists/supporters/back-slappers put a cloud on the behavior of whoever is turfed out. Howe, Watts, Frost...... Great insurance if it comes back to bite; and settles the nervous nellies like me who are laughing out loud at the club's decision.

That's what Brisbane said about Aker. Goody = Trump. Mahoney = Morrison/Hockey Frost = Kurds Supporters = Turkey(s) Clarko & TGR = UN

You sound like the old chief in Police Academy. Next you will be saying there are 'many, many, many positives...." I can't take you seriously.

Love St.Kilda putting Freo and Bell on the back foot behind the wicket keeper. Unlike Melbourne who salivated at a Lever trade earlier in that trade period, and also letting Freo take the steering wheel with the Hogan trade. Getting a guy in his late 20's! We must seriously think we are in the premiership window. A club, with little excuses that just beat GC in KPIs! Typical and utter crazy Melbourne to offer pick 3 when St.Kilda played hardball beautifully and walked away from 6 and...

You're right...I had extreme difficulty putting your judgement in the same sentence. What agenda is that? BTW, glad you think our culture is better with Watts, Frost and Sulk out the door. I am so please we are left with the onfield demonstrations of Melky, (Lewis retired but left his mark no doubt), Oliver, May, and co. to overtly set things right, pointing the finger, and put other players back in their place. Our culture apparently got rid of dead weight when Howe, Dunn, Kent, Watts and Hoges got sent packing. Remember the MFC officials and brains-trust that used to accuse Scully of "over-training". FCS, no wonder he left. So would have I, and the majority in his position. Irrelevant that a dying man put him under the gun and asked "are you staying?". You guys just re-write the narrative when the club makes a decision. It is going to great thread to re-hash when Clarko uses Frosty well, and the Hawks catapult into the window again.
-
“I think they’re paying massive money to Lever and May and Frost is their best defender,” Riewoldt told SEN. “I’m more confident in Frost at the moment than the other two to beat a man. “If I was playing tomorrow and the three of them lined up I reckon I’d find it harder to get a kick on Frost than the other two. “I know Frost can stuff it up from time to time, but he gives great effort.” So if Frost has never been great... By your judgement and Riewoldt's, we are paying 1.7 million per year for fair to OK.
-
You probably said the same with Howe and Dunn. Amazing that when they play really good footy at the new destination, or assume prime leadership positions (when we are apparently rudderless (Lewis need)), it is that the player changed; not that they necessarily had it in them when they were here.
-
Depends how selective your reading is. Some of us stuck fat with Frost and ignored the tide of consensus. I must admit though, pretty tough to ignore his supreme effort and speed in 2019. You probably think Nick Riewoldt's view on him versus Lever and May was amusing also. But we are the MFC. We pin our hopes on one (Barassi, Watts, Flower, Scully); and we are also great at anointing a scapegoat for all our ills too. Last year it was Watts. This year Frost.
-
Lever (and May) have cost us big time. 2 first rounders, King (GC) and Frost; and an chest full of $$. Geelong worked Lever out in his first game for memory, by getting a first gamer to isolate him one-on-one. I don't hope Frost sticks it up us; he will stick it up us. Clarko is an absolute genius. He is getting a robust guy, entering his prime, with elite speed that can pinch hit ruck, WING and to a lesser extent forward....for what...a late 2nd round draft pick next year? Hawks make the 8 next year comfortably. Frost and September are made for each other. I will be looking at twitter when Goody gets the RRRs in the next year or 2. Frosty might have a Maloney type message for him. Gave supreme effort. Provided solitary speed. Was a bonefide top 5 player this year....who just managed to double Jordan Lewis' voting in the B&F. pTGR

What is the criteria? - Makes me feel awkward? - Makes me feel challenged? - Makes me confront our cultural flaws? - Makes debate a tad robust? - Makes me defend supporting decisions that have invariably failed? You are either under 14 or insecure. I truly believe umpires have biases; but to put out there, that professional journo has a 'solid hatred' without foundation is overstepping the mark by a long way. Barrett sticks his neck out, and will get it chopped off if he is proven wrong. Supporters have to realise that the people that have constantly praised every decision that this football club has made over the past 50 years, might 'love' the MFC; but history has proven that they were mad. Give me the person that has invariably criticised the club and its decisions for much of the past 50 years, before the fact, and I call him (her) Einstein.
