As far as I am aware a free agent can be traded like any out of contract player as long as the player agrees, if Chip nominates the swans and a deal can be done that all parties are happy with I am pretty sure it can go ahead, obviously though Chip holds the power as he can choose his destination and walk regardless of what the club thinks

I would have thought as a prospective assistant coach you would be very interested in learning your craft under someone who has a similar style to what you feel you would have, I see Cameron Ling as a really good footy mind and a really good communicator, a lot more of a paul roos style coach than say a brad scott, chris scott or Mick Malthouse type, which is why I think he will end up at the MFC whether that be as an Assistant coach or a successor, personally I think Kirk is still the obvious candidate for successor.

I'd personally still do that deal for Cameron, I think he has shown enough to say he could easily be the best forward in the game for a long time, being All Australian at his age as a key forward in such a poor team is no small feet, in melbournes side with Dawes and Hogan up there as well the opposition wouldn't be able to double and triple team him and he'd be even more dangerous in my opinion agree on the captaincy, if it has to be co captains i'd like to see Jones, Dunn and Dawes

I wasn't aware of that, it was never going to happen that way, GWS have the cap space to just offer frawley the 7 years at 800k if they want him bad enough to hand over Cameron if Anderson seriously suggested that then it's clearly not true.

the free agency compo comes after the free agency period, so out compensation would not be finalised until it's too late to pick up another player.

i' I think the thing people underestimate as well is that he has played under two different premiership coaches and in multiple flags and is a premiership captain, he would know quite a lot about coaching already from those experiences, so I don't see it as starting from no idea, he is starting from a very good foundation of quality experience and footy knowledge, he would understand the importance of communication and culture Roosy will just teach him a bit more about people management and in box coaching, but i'm sure he would have a good and experienced assistant coaching team around him as well to almost blanket any concerns about inexperience.

Would roosy staying on in some capacity cover the lack of experience? If ling gets the job surely roosy has to stay for the third year?

Lloyd Perris I rated highly before the draft last year, apparently Roosy was keen to draft him but because of the academy rules the swans got a free hit and we were told to f off, I wouldn't mind him and Tommy Mitchell coming down
