  1. Would you pay Harry Petty who is currently recovering from a very serious foot injury 800-900k a year? I rate the kid, but no way in the world i'd be spending that sort of money on him
  2. If Harry Petty is being offered money like that i'd expect a formal trade request very soon
  3. I think we kind of knew that though, the reality was to sign anyone close to A grade we would need someone contracted to decide they wanted out, and the club to be willing to do the trade. I do think we're building up a war chest of cap space for next year however and that's when we will be looking to make a splash
  4. I'd like to see us play hard ball, set a price and just refuse to sign off on any other deal. Grundy and 27 for pick 11 or no deal,
  5. i'd do that deal, as much as i rate Harry Petty, always risks coming back from the injury he's got and he did have a few injuries this year, that's a BIG return
  6. i'm absolutely certain we would have asked the question but i think this is a bit like Clayton Oliver to the Blues, you introduce another club as a potential threat to get a better offer.
  7. I think it would be perfectly reasonable to allow a player to nominate a state, but then the team is free to negotiate with all teams of that state for the best deal as long as they meet contractual requirements.
  8. Huge yes, especially if the Saints are chipping in some of his wage, costs nothing and has played some really strong footy at times The Saints sadly haven't been able to develop a lot of the good players they've had come through, JB is one i still think can become a really solid AFL player
  9. A good run with injury and finding our best form at the right time we were a lot closer to the mark in 2023 than we realise and i suspect the FD realises that. we lost, rathar than being beaten
  10. I wonder if you could talk the Giants into a similar deal with bowes. If they upgrade our pick 13 to pick 6, and we take on his Salary given we're opening up some nice cap space I think this could be a smart move given we're clearly not planning a big signing in the next 12 months, he would at the very least provide some experience and depth and we could take on the 1.2 million or whatever it is for next year which would appeal to the Giants we could then dangle 5, 6 and our future first under the Eagles nose and see if we can still prize Harley Reid out of the Eagles
  11. and Trent Rivers in the 30's who could well end up one of the best players out of that draft. his record is incredible especially with later picks
  12. Realistically only about 3 teams have the currency to get this done, it would be one of the biggest trades of all time. i kind of want it to happen just to see a deal on that scale. I'd be wanting a top 5 pick and a player, or a top 5 pick and a top 10 pick to even start the conversation
  13. The only way there is anything to the McKay trade rumours is if Carlton have decided they need that money off their books, which is possible, but i'd say unlikely. they'll think they can win the flag next year.
  14. It's outside the box but i'd be using Joel Smith as our second string ruck/forward, his marking around the ground would be a weapon, he gives us another midfielder at ground level and is just tall enough that with his leap he can compete in the ruck
  15. I wonder if we'd offer something like 5, 24 and Charlie Spargo to trade up with North for pick 3. North have an abundance of mids and we could really use Colby McKercher. they could grab their boy Riley Sanders with pick 5, plus a premiership role player and a second rounder as a bonus
  16. I wonder if we'd have a look at Ladhams? he's more of a forward ruck and likely falling down the pecking order at the Swans
  17. I really hope so. we've got an opportunity to bring in 3-4 top 25 players and really refresh the list. unless you could sign Oscar Allen or Nick Larkey, better off going to the draft, looking for opportunities to upgrade picks and keeping the cap space open to replace May/Max.
  18. Also Melbourne won't sign off on a trade until they have an answer on this and simply there is no benefit in paying him to play for another premiership contender. if dees have to pay for him, keep him as backup for Gawn
  19. Watch North send all 3 of their special assistance picks to the Suns for pick 4, end up with 3 picks in the top 5 and basically get it for nothing. No wonder the entire league is absolutely fuming,
  20. I reckon McQualter had quite a bit to do with Richmonds success and would be an asset.
  21. You could see in both our game and the prelim the umpires were clearly intimidated by the huge Collingwood crowd, they would be red hot for the pies, but hesitate for the opposition. The Giants copped it worse than we did, some of the umpiring in that game was outrageous, and the fixturing was beyond belief. The only positive note is that for 3 weekends in a row Centrelink knows exactly where their clients are, which is probably a rarity.
  22. I suspect we will get pick 44 from the Tigers for Harmes and that pick will get McAdam over the line
  23. Don't hit me for this but....... James Hird?
  24. I think Tmacs best chance to get back into the team and extend his career is to train as a key defender and compete directly with Tommlinson for the CHB position. a fully fit Petty and Van Rooyen plus whoever else we bring in are going to keep him out as a forward
  25. Bold thing to say about a guy who has taken the team to a flag and 3 consecutive top 4 finishes.
