  1. I don’t think any major footy dept re signings or decisions will occur until we have a new coach, they might want to bring their own people and so on. Though I do very much hope JT stays with the club as I feel he’s done a very good job
  2. I’m really struggling to get my head around the urgency to sack goody being such that we would pay him 1.2 million a year to hire a coach with a worse record (bucks) or an untried assistant. change for the sake of change is generally a sign of poor governance and if there is a clear and urgent reason this needed to happen now the club hasn’t really communicated it. I’d get it for John Longmire. If we’re sacking goody to get access to horse before Carlton or anyone else could, but if bucks rules himself out it’ll basically be an untried assistant
  3. Imagine wanting to attract or keep talent… hahaha [censored]
  4. I’d argue petty has always been capable but the thing that’s improving is he’s now getting better looks at it with better and more aggressive ball movement
  5. I don’t wanna pot our players but he’s so goal hungry man, he just get it’s and winds up. If he wants to play regular AFL footy in 2026 I’d suggest he works out how to pass it
  6. Ugh Tom morris pretending as though this isn’t normal. Every coaching race the club has 2-3 targets they’d love. For us Simpson, Longmire, Buckley and if one of them wants it it’s theirs. Happened with the saints and Ross Lyon. And if they rule themselves out they then move to the best untried assistant. Melbourne aren’t running a boat race, Melbourne are a stronger and more appealing prospect than a typical rebuilding club like Richmond were and west coast are and as such we are a chance to sign one of our preferred candidates and we are prioritising that. it’s good governance to canvas the market to make sure it’s still the best decision even if we initially like one of the options and will very likely Lean that way
  7. It’s all smoke and mirrors Picket fence is the new front runner for the job.
  8. Can we just re hire him?
  9. Totally agree. Even the pursuit of cam Bruce I don’t believe would happen without the approval of the new coach who’d want to hand pick any members to his coaching panel he can. I think the club possibly wants to give the appearance of a thorough process but in reality the decision is made and wheels are already in motion. the interesting irony would be if this assumption is correct and it hasn’t been leaked that’s at least one positive
  10. Far out. I knew it was going to Leak. good news guys, I’ve got the job
  11. If we hire Daly as the coach maybe the Ashcroft boys and Logan morris can come as a bonus
  12. It should be that and my phone has dogged me with autocorrect. Good catch
  13. I should clarify, Brad green is a footy person that I’ve met a few times and really rate, which I know not everyone agrees with. I think generally speaking the degree to which “we’re a mess” is overstated, though I’d like the leaks to stop and I personally am unsure if Nathan Buckley is really an upgrade on what we already had and are now paying not to coach. they’re the experts and I’ll trust them to make the right call. I hope the leaks that might exist do stop, and things settle when Steven smith and Paul guerra are in their seats and we have a new coach and hopefully a period with a bit more stability
  14. Simon Goodwins sacking was leaked to the media half way through a zoom meeting letting our senior players know their coach has been sacked. That’s a monumental governance failing that something like they leaked out.
  15. It’s kinda silly isn’t it professional sporting club tests the market to see what options they have before making enormous decision on premiership hero coach I’d argue it would be negligent not to have those conversations ahead of time and common practice within the industry
  16. Few influential Tassie people are Richmond legends, not surprising Richmond supporting Caro starts crapping all over Melbourne when we look a huge chance to steal their number one coaching target from them.
  17. He’s still very young but Xavier Lindsay is about the most impressive young leader I’ve ever met. He’s probably someone who’ll find himself a captain of the MFC within 5 years IMO
  18. Kane made her look pretty silly about which job is more appealing. Melbourne are already on the way. Best case by 2032 or 2033 Tasmania might reach where Melbourne are right now, If they’re lucky, there are no guarantees. And history says 5 years without finals is going to probably spell the end for any coach
  19. It reminds me of Paul Roos before he took the job but bucks excitement is a little more obvious and he’s not as good an actor I’d be pretty shocked if he wasn’t our senior coach next year
  20. I must admit I think it’s probably more simple than that. Simpson said he never even spoke to us, Chaplin didn’t even apply. I think a few things are pointing to the idea we’ve had bucks as our target a long way out. No one wants to publicly express interest and not get the role.
  21. I would assume this is a lot further along than many realise, I’m sure we’ve had a pretty good idea what our options are for weeks if not months and all roads seem to point to Nathan Buckley. if it’s going to be him, I hope they just rip the bandaid off and appoint him right away so he can get to work on attracting the best players and coaches and staff and launching into 2026
  22. I think one thing with Clarry that it’s worth pointing out. of the one dimensional inside bull players that dominated the league 5 years ago, the game has basically moved on from them now. The challenge clarry has got is two fold because he has to not only get his body and mind right, he needs to add more strings to his bow. I would even argue patty cripps who’s the best at that role has been largely ineffective this year because the game is changing. So I agree it’s not injuries with Clarry, probably a bit mindset and a bit the game itself is changing and as a result he’s gone from elite, to a pretty good player who can be exposed
  23. So can Buckley. You don’t accidentally make grand finals or deep finals runs. easy to remember that one slightly worse kick from dom sheed and bucks is a premiership coach.
  24. There is a perception rightly or wrongly that the mfc rule the roost a little bit, I have no idea if this is true or not, but I’m softening to Buckley simply because if it were true, I can’t imagine him putting up with it.
  25. Yup. Strange play to sus out potential assistants when your unsure if you even want to coach, don’t know how many vacancies the club in question has or what the soft cap situation is, and don’t know where exactly the role is. this is definitely an indication that bucks is at least in his mind down the path quite a way. And the MFC have provided him with some insight about what a team around him and its structure might look like. I would expect bucks to be announced before finals to be honest
