THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
Ted Lasso replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
The AFL was always going to fight it every step of the way, i reckon the plan was always for them to be not guilty at the tribunal making it extremely difficult to overrule that verdict. -
I wonder if we'd consider trading our 2017 first round pick and something to try and get a top 10 pick and land young English he's very much a rory Lobb type who would be able to be a more than capable forward who is able to play in the ruck, he's loaded with talent and i reckon he'd be a great get if we could somehow swing that if pick #29 doesn't get Hibberd over the line perhaps we could also offer a 2017 third round exchange with their 2017 fourth round or some sort of steak knive thing to sweaten the deal, i think they feel Hibberd is worth pick 25 and pick 29 just doesn't quite get it done. I am not discounting the change Lewis is still in play, he was clearly a long way down the path with Melbourne and he may genuinely see a better opportunity here, he'd definitely be in the AFL side and maybe a 4 year 2 of playing 2 of coaching type deal would offer him more security than what he currently has/ is getting at the Hawks. I reckon we would be following this Tom Rockliff situation closely, he's a quality player who i think has mentally suffered from being Captain of a terrible side that has been going nowhere for a little while now, watching coaches get sacked and so on, if he came in without the leadership to worry about i think he could really add to our side, he's the right age and could potentially be a bargain pick up if the Lions actively WANT to trade him they may consider a deal involving Dunn and our second round pick, potential for a real value pick up if i am reading the situation correctly. ( Tom would obviously have to accept less than the 800k or whatever he's asking) obviously this is hypothetical, but i think this trade period has the potential to take a really positive turn, especially after the great news of Dom and Jesse re-signing with the club.
-
Lewis and Hibberd alone go a long way to boosting our on field experience/leadership.
-
I can't speak for Jordan, but i suspect it's the security, at the Dees it'd likely be a 4 year deal 2 years as a player and 2 as a coach maybe and what's he got one more at the Hawks with no transition plan in place. The Hawks have also been keen to move the older guys to flanks and allow the younger guys to shoulder the middle a lot more, i am not sure Lewis is as equipped as a Hodge or Burgoyne to move to Half back, so he might be looking at VFL time potentially as well which is why i don't see him as a lock for being Captian
-
Trade Radio Barrett and Wallace don't seem to be writing this off at all, both saying they're hearing it from a lot of different people so it's a real chance of them backflipping on this one. as the article Stuie just posted showed, where there is smoke, there is generally fire in the AFL world, my take is i think Lewis wants to come, the Hawks don't want to lose both he and Mitchell at the same time.
-
What's interesting is i would have thought they'd have said both those things about Mitchell, but now he's off to WCE so that seems to have less meaning if a really good offer/opportunity comes on
-
If Essendon offered say Pick 1 and pick 19 that would have to tempt them if they thought it was 50/50 that he'd go. I reckon they'll win 10 games or so next year and get maybe pick 8-9 as their first rounder and maybe 9-10 as compo if he leaves. and the risk compo picks may be removed.
-
He did alright last year when he netted us pick 3 and 7 and got us two extremely good young players that will both be huge for the club going forward, reckon you didn't predict that one so maybe you should hold your uninformed comments until you actually see how things pan out. for the record it would be 100% fine if the only deal done was the Hibberd one, much better than recruiting some NQR's just for the sake of feeling a part of it.
-
Peter Ryan suggesting it had some legs but it's looking unlikely now, i suspect due to Mitchell going, sounds like they thought it'd be one or the other that left
-
Get ready guys, feeling a big left field deal from us here.
-
you're absolutely kidding yourself if you think that's true.
-
I thought we could providing we used 2 first round picks in a four year period, and given we used 2 in 2015 we should be fine to move that one on?
-
I think if you can get people of the footy caliber of Boris in the door you certainly have to look at it, maybe we could ask if he wants to play one more year and transition into coaching that way, we could certainly use his experience/leadership on the field.
-
Oliver, Petracca and Brayshaw are talented, but none are ahead of Tyson at this stage, they might go past him but i still genuinely believe Dom will be/is a very good player.
-
we're in the position to do it, Hogan has re-signed, we've got all our good young players locked away, we'll have two strong first round picks next year and we can offer significantly more money than the Swans can, and i think in all likelyhood both Melbourne and Sydney will be top 8 teams next year. if not Issac Heeney, Josh Kelly or Nat Fyfe or someone like that. we are ready to bring in a genuine A grader.
-
If Heeney were on the table, and wanted to come to the MFC, i'd offer up a deal of say two first round picks ( obviously this would most likely happen in 2017) so our 2017 first rounder and our 2018 first rounder and maybe steak knives if need be. good clubs find a way to bring in good players without sacrificing their core group, can't be scared off from trying to bring in the best players because the Swans might ask for one of ours.
-
I personally think we should ( obviously this won't happen ) make a massive offer to Issac Heeney, 5-6 year big $$ deal! kids an absolute super star in the making and he's never going to get that sort of $$ at the Swans.
-
Just because we don't have the deal done yet doesn't mean we're struggling, might be waiting for other things to play out.
-
Red and Blue Flame does have good sources, he's mentioned things on here a few times that have been correct. having said that i don't rate Tippett or have any idea what we'd trade.
-
Brad Hill done deal for pick 23
-
He's also predominately an inside midfielder who is sitting behind Oliver, Jones, Tyson, Viney, Brayshaw, Petracca and so on so it's always going to be tough for him
-
It's not surprising, S.A boy who hasn't got a huge amount of opportunity in the seniors, though i suspect he'd love to stay here with Billy

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
Ted Lasso replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
Really? this totally escapes me, unless they didn't want to know, i can't understand why they wouldn't ask. -
well not on the table as in any club can get them, but they're open to moving them on for a specific deal they're looking at. makes you wonder who they're after to need to those guys on the table

SAM'S BROWNLOW OR NOT? Manager Peter Lenton: Sam was given the opportunity to present to the AFL why he should get the Brownlow (if Jobe stripped), but he didn't want to do that. why the hell should Mitchell have to present a case, he's the highest vote getter of 2012 that isn't guilty of using Performance enhancing drugs, the fact he hasn't got it around his neck already is embarrassing, the AFL is just digging a deeper and deeper hole. Rory Sloane could have missed a brownlow this year for a 2 second brain fade that barely left a bruise but Jobe can potentially keep his despite being found guilty of cheating.
