  1. Why would West Coast accept an offer now? unless it's 2,3, 15, 17, 18 for pick 1 they are just going to wait and see the best offers with a clear idea of who will slide to where and what they might actually get out of the package.
  2. I honestly think the money was a huge factor in this rather than just pure go home factor, not that he'd admit it publicly, i suspect we will be putting a lucrative extension in front of him fairly soon and if he chooses not to sign on, we'll look to trade him at the end of 2024 I also expect we'll look to extend Van Rooyen out early next year as well long term
  3. If Sanders is earmarked by the Dogs for 5, which may well be true, because the kid is a gun, it means one of Curtin or Watson is going to slide to us. i suspect that's who we will take. there is definitely talk the club rates Caddy highly though so i wouldn't rule out a trade up. if we could flip 11 into 7 we could get Caddy and Curtin and that'd be a pretty good result overall.
  4. He just isn't that sort of player, he's much more like Jake Stringer as i said earlier, he's a hybrid small/tall forward. the style he plays is closer to Bailey Fritsch than it is to Jacob Van Rooyen.
  5. Yes, because i have seen him play... he's actually a similar height to Jacob Van Rooyen but they're very different players
  6. Both Curtin and O'Sullivan can play the key forward role better than Caddy can. he's not a key forward, he doesn't quite fit into any of the traditional player catagories, he's not good enough to be a pure mid, and he's probably a 3rd tall as a forward which we already have covered with Smith/Fritsh/Melksham/McAdam
  7. I think it's going to be a two pronged approach, i think we will draft Sanders and someone with a bit more X factor with pick 11 and continue to build our cap space. i think the plan will be to be pretty aggressive post 2024. we weren't miles off the pace this year and could have won the flag with a better injury run, you'd expect JVR and Petty will be better, Kozzie and co will continue to develop and some tweaks to the game plan should see us be around the mark again.
  8. A better comparison is Jake Stringer, i don't think we will take Caddy unless he is there at pick 11. there is no universe where he's a better player than Riley Sanders
  9. I don't think we'd put ourselves into the position we will be in with a huge amount of cap space to spend and also trade out our future first, we will want the assets in the event we get a big name on the hook. I'd say it'll be one of two scenarios, 1. we take 6 and 11 to the draft 2. we trade 6 and 11 for a pick higher up the order for example 2, and take 2 and 42 to the draft
  10. I think the order would be different for everyone, but i'd have Duursma as the second best player, he's a match winner. but it'd be very close.
  11. In my view the best 4 players in this draft are Harley Reid, Zane Duursma, Colby McKercher and Riley Sanders, the fact we can almost certainly get Sanders with our pick 6 does make just keeping those picks appealing. if we could bring in Sanders and add some key back depth with Murphy i think that's a really solid outcome with these two picks. having said that i think trading up is a very real possibility
  12. In: about 1 million in cap space, 3 players who fill clear needs and have significant upside, a strong draft hand with two of the top 10 live picks. Tim Lamb is a master of the trade period
  13. Absolutely rapt with this pick up. i reckon he's going to find his way into our team for round 1 and stay there. he's an upgrade on Spargo in every measure, he's got the kicking skills, but he will be 10 times more damaging and will slot more goals
  14. Yes it is, we would trade our future first in a heart beat to upgrade pick 6 to pick 4. our future first is likely to be between 16-18 and after all the academy picks will probably blow out to early 20's the Hawks deal would be extremely compelling because if North don't want Curtin, the Eagles are almost guaranteed to get him.
  15. Very hard thing to read, but does he come accross as a kid who could move to Melbourne and cope okay? if he's there at pick 6 he'd be the obvious choice, but i can only see him sliding because of go home concerns, he's too good to not go in the first few picks otherwsie i'd have thought
  16. Knowing our luck Reid would love the Perth weather and Curtin would hate coffee
  17. I think we should seriously consider Jack Darling. there is almost no doubt he would offer more than BBB or Tmac next year.
  18. Yeah, i tend to agree to be honest, I don't think this one is over. if he does go i wouldn't sign off on less than 10, 14 and McAdam. if we're losing Petty lets at least make sure we get Harley Reid out of it 6,10,11 should get the deal done you'd imagine
  19. Crows will cave, it doesn't benefit them to not trade McAdam when he doesn't want to be there, they're just not going to do it until they're 110% sure that Petty is off the table
  20. your entire point is based on a baseless assumption of what North might or might not do. Pick 2, 15 and 18 North would say yes in 5 seconds flat i suspect, it'd be the Eagles that might knock that back. it sounds like they want 2 in the top 5 Hawthorn have pick 4, and their future first. 4, their future 1 plus Brockman which would trump 6, 11 and our future one fairly comfortably given they're likely to finish bottom 6-7 again next year
  21. I think you'll find that while North Melbourne would love not to give up those picks, they more than likely will give up one of them. i know there is a lot of wishful thinking from the Dees fans on this for obvious reasons, but unless we offered up Van Rooyen or Rivers with our pick 6, i don't think we are any chance of trumping North Melbourne as it stands. Even Hawthorn arguably could put together a strong package that we'd struggle to top. with that in mind, i personally would consider trading Van Rooyen to get in pick 1, i understand he's ultra talented, but i rate Harley Reid as someone who's likely to be a long term top 3 in the comp player, and Van Rooyen is still someone who has a strong pull home and could easily leave in 2025. I know a lot of people won't agree and will be shocked by the suggestion, but i think we need a mini re-set as a club and getting Harley Reid in could make or break future premiership tilts
  22. North Melbourne has 2, 3, 13, 17, 18 and early second rounders plus their future first, a 24 end of first round pick If they want Harley Reid, they will get him
  23. @dazzledavey36 Do you still have a bit to do the the Bushies? What do you think of O'Sullivan and Wilson? are they good lads?
  24. It's just about impossible to see how we get this deal done without offering a player up now.
