  1. In: Chippa, Magner, Jetta, Mckenzie

Out: Spencer (susp), Pedo, Dunn, next worst player

reason to bring in smalls against dogs is to match them with there running abilities.

or we can leave dunn in to tag Brett Goodes and do a forward tag. Goodes gets alot of cheap ball and we could damage his output on the game

Mckenzie- Tag Griffen or Magner to tag him

  2. How long does Trengove get?

There were a couple of high balls that any AFL player would have backed themselves to at least try to make a contest, but Trengove knew his plodding speed was no chance. Sad, sure. But I've seen enought.

    And Watts? fmd.

Trengove wasnt terrific today but it's impossible for his disposal count to go up when we:

    A. Barely get the ball

    B. No one delivers it to him, because he is not a rover he's an outside player, always was , always will be.

    Watts;

Probably in our top 3 or 4 players.

DONT YOU DARE BAG WATT'S PERFORMANCE TODAY. Last 2 weeks has shown more than something

  3. 6- Garland (absolutely fantastic today, was really impressed)

    5. Nathan Jones (always gives his absolute best)

    4. Jack Watts (best game for year, looked really dangerous. Imagine what he'd be like with Clark, Hogan, Dawes and Howe.. :) :) )

    3. Sylvia (28 possies, cant go past him)

    2. Terlich, love his attack on the footy

    1. Toump, very good but looked slow at times

honourable mentions: All umpires involved in that game (made sure Golden Boy Riewoldt kicked some goals today)

  4. Yes, I would, but what I'm saying is after the last 5 Years we've passed the point of employing an Eade... eade is one of the best development coaches imo, but thats it...

I think his main go, is the coaches offsider, with strategies & etc..

If we have to go for a B grader, go for Choco Williams...

... look Eade is Vanilla, & with our culture, he will be quickly absorbed into the old Melbourne/MCC culture, & he won't manage to change a thing. when he finishes we will be back to the same place we were in 2008.... & where the Doggies were last year...

at least with 'Choco', we would get some more creativity, into our players, but maybe not enough discipline.

So, If we miss out on the A Graders,,,, Matthews/Roos,,,,, > then Bomba Thompson,,,,

... then I'd stay with Neil Craig til the end of 2014,,, at which time we could have another crack at Roos,, 'Bomba' Thompson,, & Clarkson.

    # I would prefer Gary Ayres head & shoulders over either choco or eade... Imagine a combined Lethal Matthews/Gary Ayres partnership...

BOMBER THOMPSON WILL NEVER COACH MELBOURNE, LET ALONE ANYONE AGAIN.

Get that in your head, im not trying to be aggressive, but throwing up coaches names that have no interest is just silly.

The prime candidates that will be interested in the job or targeted by Melbourne will be most likely:

    Craig (interested in the job)

    Roos (we will target him)

Aryes (might be interested in the job)

Eade (we should target him and he'd be interested )

    Mathews (we will target him)

Choco Williams (we might chase him)

Knights (he's go no shot but he'll apply)

Sheedy (could be an outside option, but wont coach)

AGAIN CLARKSON HAS SAID HE IS NOT INTERESTED, SO STOP THROWING HIS NAME UP IN THE AIR.

    thank you all

i am sick of reading candidates that have ruled themselves out categorically

  5. Obviously at the moment we are in a dark period at MFC,

But there are some serious upsides e.g. Jesse Hogan, development of young guns, Number 2 pick this year, potential new gun coach.

But as a footy club what we need to focus on is the next 11 rounds, in my opinion they are do or die. The current list need to show they are worth a cracker and come out to play some real footy.

    go dees

  6. The way I look at our list:

Defenders: Ok, if Frawley goes we will have a big issue. Fralwey, Garland, Terlich, Tommy Mac (improving), Pedersen (ok, played a better last game)

Fowards: Had a massive hole 18 months ago, now fixed (apart from injuries), and looking good for the future. Clark, Dawes, Howe/Watts, Davey/Byrnes and Hogan (future)

Ruck: Has been an issue since White left (god he was good), but need to sort out Seller because I'm struggling to find him in our team next year. Jamar, Fitzpatrick, Gawn.

Apart from our midfield our team isn't that bad...

Jamar is a fantastic hitout ruckman, but doesnt have good players to hit to. Moloney was amazingly instinctive of reading hitouts of the ruckmans hands, we just dont have that. Viney could become one of them

  7. Yes and yes.

There are a couple at the moment who are working damn hard to improve. The coach has motivated them as has Jack Grimes. I'm an enormous fan of JT, (quality person) but JG is an enormous role model.

Consider that Collingwood scored 89 out of 122 (or whatever it was) from turnovers. Players are getting to contests and getting their hands on the ball. Mistakes relate to confidence and composure that comes with games, games, games.

    This will turn around.

    fantastic post

  8. He came in with a Hitler mentality and whilst a few have responded and progressed many already good players have gone backwards. Once you've lost them its hard to get them back. Even some who have progressed are playing with no confidence.

The quicker he is gone the better, im predicting after round 14.

The apologists need to understand that we are on a road to annihilation with this bloke

associating Hitler with someone as harmless as Neeld is disgraceful

  9. You're.

No. Give him a midfield and then let's see.

I reckon the culture is almost sorted.

Neeld is building relationships with those who understand what it takes to belong and succeed in an elite competition. Those who chose not to are kicking off the dew in the ressies.

You know it's funny you say that.

I reckon the culture has seriously improved.. Maybe under Neeldy next year well improve. Especially with another pre season under certain players. Im not saying he should stay, but it's a very interesting theory

  10. Ill admit if we were to get a priorty pick it would be tempting to take him.

But we need to look an one more midfielder and not an outside midfielder like Toumpas. Another Jack Viney, Ollie Wines, someone who is inside and wins the hard footy because in that area of the midfield we are lacking it. As much as i really love Sylvia and Trengove they are not good enough (trengove might be in the future) to be in the centre of the ground and go head to head with Pendles, Swanny, Gazza, Boyd in clearances.

  11. this is really what people may have said honestly.

holes everywhere, nowhere near good enough for anything, but there was some experience on that list... but little class, & less hardness.

  12. You're kidding aren't you ? What in the way we finished 2011 made you think we were destined for "great things" in 2012 ?

I can understand you're disappointed but it seems you've contributed to that disappointment

Hahaha what a joke, although the finish to 2011 wasnt great.

Everyone was so positive that 2012 would be the big jump up.

New coach, new staff and Mitch Clark.

    So transparent some people are

  13. Yeah, I'd be playing Watts in the forward fifty for the rest of the year, even with the return of Clark. He's shown a glimmer of attack on the ball over the last two weeks. We've said it before. If he can impact contests physically, he'll become a very dominant player with increased possession. That said, going forward I see him as a player that rotates between deep forward, half forward, high half forward and the wing.

It's a good thread this though. I agree. Dawes is more of a physical player than Clark. It's great seeing a Melbourne key forward banging and crashing opponents. There was a moment there today that reminded me of Neitz's hip and shoulder on Luke McCabe over a decade ago. He has a presence.

I think he will be helped by Hogan's bash and crash too just quietly.

Clark, Dawes, Hogan, Watts and Howe. Get two B grade crumbers and we're looking incredibly dangerous down there. If Blease can lift his work rate and fitness, he might become one of those crumbers too.

dont you ever put neitz and dawes in the same sentence again, thank you.

  14. I believe it is now well documented that Maloney left because he was a sook who didn't get the captains job and nobody at the club thought he was suitable.

We were not in good shape in 2012. We beat useless sides, we had a fitness level that was well below any professional side, the players called the shots not the coach. How is that being in good shape.

If Neeld goes out the door, so will I. Not paying my membership to have my club run by dimwitted boards and players who think they can call the shots. No wonder our club is a joke.

I am referring to 2011 and that i saw a serious future for Melbourne with that.

Your post demonstrates the consequential errors that occur from a faulty premise.

You launch by saying our list was ready to cause damage in 2012. That was, and is, incorrect. It follows that everything from that point on is also incorrect.

In 2012, we had the worst midfield in the AFL.

In 2013, we have the worst midfield in the AFL, but Viney and Toumpas at least.

You cannot be successful with the worst midfield in the AFL.

Well it was, if you look at the talent there and the bonus of Mitch Clark. Do not tell me you didnt sit there saying we are gonna have a crack this year. Because that would just be damn straight lying.

We all thought 2012 was going to be a huge year with great things.

Get off your high horse and admit it
