  1. 1) Because and income is better than no income

    2) A coaching pay cheque is bigger than the pension cheque

    3) They have nothing better to do

The question is how long do we allow a coach to re-build a list, Bailey had 3 years, Neeld will get 1 year, You can't count the first year as coach because they basically get want we have with a few draft picks and trades. Second year its your list that you are shaping. I also think Sylvia, Watts and Frawley will not be playing at the MFC next year.

Not all three of them will go. wrong.

Watts, Sylvia and Frawley will not all go.

Maybe one of them will go...

  2. I genuinely believe he will finish top 3 in the BNF. Reminds me so much of Ryan Griffen and will be able to do more when he puts on some size. Such a shame he is already 25 years old.

Nahh he wouldnt have been good at 18 in my opinion.. he''s perfectly aged.

the guy has a good 5-6 years at Melbourne and can really excel in those years

  3. It would have to be one hell of an offer to even consider it, there are some pretty decent young mids coming through the draft system this year, if we get a priority pick it might be worth floating one of those.

Yes, i 've heard some amazing young rookies. but its not worth having to raise another young player who may or may not become a player knowing our crappy development.

    Get a ready made STAR!!!!

  4. Look, i think its fair to say we are going to get pick 1 or 2 this year... lets be honest, it aint getting better from here.

Instead of getting another 18 year old who we have the opportunity to screw up.. why dont we trade our first pick for someone like Buddy Franklin (someone at his level in the midfield in my opinion) and get a ready made superstar.

Rather than having a young player waiting for him to develop.

Developing time is over, get your core group and play them ever week

  5. Been even better than Magner in his first year.

I really like the look of him..

Seems to find the footy quite easily and past couple of weeks he has posted some high disposal counts.

Looks like someone who could fit quite nicely with N. Jones, Grimes, Trengove, Viney and Toump in future years.

Hopefully he turns into a leader in the midfield

  6. OD i know this is tongue in cheek, at least i'm guessing it is. But actually this should be seriously considered for those who refuse to tackle, chase and do the basic "effort" things expected of any footballer, even at amateur level.

If Neeld truly followed through on his main "mantra" and "committment to the players when he first started.....which was.....

"Everyone has a role in our structure and when it's their turn to go they must play their part!.... We will have a HARD EDGE".

Followed by .... "You can trust me, if the bloke that you're sitting beside can't do that (meet the above mantra) to a level that i will set, HE WON'T PLAY".

If Neeld was being true to himself and his original beliefs he MUST drop players who didn't meet his minimum KPI's. I suspect 1 of those would have to be that you at least get X number of tackles during each match as a tackle is the bare minimum that a player who is badly out of form should be able to still carry out during a match (ie., compete). I suspect that number would be around the 65 mark (minimum) as a team, which is what we averaged last year (hopefully aiming for higher this year). That's approx 3 tackles per player per match.

Under that scenario, surely those who only had 1 tackle or none SHOULDN'T PLAY this week.....

    They include...

    Byrnes

    Frawley

    Tapscott

    Gawn

    Howe

    Evans

Davey (sub doesn't really count as not on for entire match)

Dawes (1st game back.... could be excused)

    Spencer

    Strauss

    Bail

    Nicholson

    M Jones

I doubt we'd have enough replacements at Casey to cover everyone, but i think he should at least make a massive statement this week. Part of the trouble with our players (over many decades now IMO) is that we've never had the depth (or the gonads) to drop those that won't demonstrate a minimum effort and commitment towards the team and guernsey every week. They know we have no depth and their position is pretty safe.....so they just play to a base minimum and are generally happy (many players not all ... eg., exclude Clark, Jones & Howe in present group) to just take their pay and go home and enjoy the high life.

TOO MANY PLAYERS AT THE DEMONS ARE JUST TOO COMFORTABLE....ITS BEEN THIS WAY FOR DECADES

If we were to drop Frawley, Howe and Matt Jones the game isnt worth watching.

This year, Matt Jones may win our B and F. Been a gem for his first

  7. you know something.

The AFL gave us an easy draw, a buttload of games at the MCG.

    Rubbish..

The only way to put the devil back into the demon is getting a good hard nut group of players who have the burning passion to get on the bloody field and [censored] their bloody opponents.

If these boys dont learn to become elusive, passionate and damaging than this rubble will go on for even longer.

Most importantly, learn how to win.

Alo a new coach would be nice (P.Roos would be preferable)

  8. Hahaha i still remember cale morton running away from brendan lade! classic :)

biggest soft C*ck we have ever had.

If we and the media dont stop bagging these players out they will ingrain into their minds that they are disappointments.

  9. firstly 2011, we drew first game.. (against Sydney)

To be honest, i think this is the issue. if we can get early wins on the board i think thats the key to a successful season.

We saw with Adelaide last year, Port this year.. you need a good start. If you can start well, i reckon you could very well finish well

  10. Sylvia had his first full pre season and he's playing really good Football, i am really hoping Trengove will get one this year and have the breakout year we're all hoping for

my god! finally someone who agrees. Sylvia is playing really good football!

Sylvia, Watts and Trengove are fast becoming Melbourne's 3 favourite whipping boys. I agreed with our whipping of Cale Morton because he was a genuine spud.

These guys are guns of our club and lay the hell off and let there footy do the talking

  11. Hell be back and explosive.. just as we know Jack to be.

There is a reason why he's had such high expectations and so far in his career he has been quite exceptional.

Future star of the AFL. i said it from day 1

  12. The fact that Watts is the 13th best defender when really he's closer to 13th best defender at Melbourne shows how screwed these are!

They clearly haven't been able to accurately record how many touches and what impact your opponent has or things like contests you stand and watch. It's the physical things that Watts doesn't do that can't be measured

Whats great about the rankings is that people like you have no comeback. The media and melbourne supporters have constantly been on Jack's back when really he is easily the most effective player with ball in hand on our team. Now Jack sometimes appears to not have put a full effort in. But he is a very good player and i think you need to not go in with such a negative attitude to when Watts plays

    5. Cyril Rioli

    16. Daniel Wells

    37. Shannon Hurn

Thank for posting this. I needed a chuckle.

    personallly these are abit iffy.

But Cyril and Daniel Wells's imapcts on games are quite significant. There has been more than a few times where Buddy is off his game and Cryil single handedly wins the Hawks the game.

If you dont think Wells deserves his position than you needd to watch some of North's games. He is an absolute star and one of the most effective players on the team. Id rather Wells than Swallow.

  13. was just about to make a thread about this.

Proves what i have been saying.

This shows how good Colin Sylvia is, being named 60 and Jones 58.

    Watts 106.

These rankings show how effective they are with ball in hand and how much they impact our score board. I know Watts this year hasnt been someone to bring the house down about but hes a star.

Sylvia will go up to top 40 by the end of the year as i can just see him lifting.

You cant argue with the player ratings.. im sorry, they are correct.
