  1. This isn't yet another doom and gloom thread.

I just read the AFL.com article that quoted Colin Garland as saying Neeldy is coaching better than he ever has. In particular, Col (Garland, not this one) said that he was impressed at how he let the boys just play instinctive footy and has done a good job in protecting the players from the fall out of the three beltings at the start of the year.

Has Neeldy started to come to the realization that he needs to work with the players, rather than work against them? Has he realized that he can be authoritative as a coach but not authoritarian? Has he discovered that he can have a relationship with the boys but when the time comes he is able to tell them what is and what is not on?

I don't want things to go back to the time of Bailey when players were calling the shots exclusively but I have wanted him to at least become a little more flexible in his approach. What do others think?

I think he has come to this realization but he has come to it pretty late. Whether or not it will save him as a coach remains to be seen.

Neeld is not the type of coach that will let he players dominate them. But he might let them play more freely.

  2. Was a jaw dropping moment for me.

Can't recall the last time i saw a player at the MFC do something like that. Maybe Jakovich in full flight, but even then it would only be 2 players max. I think Col brushed off 3 in that run or was i seeing things?

    Nupp.

Just watched it, shivers down my spine..

Honestly that was Gary Ablett like..

  3. When I see him bust a run like that through Geelongs midfield, then I'll get excited.

Sorry to be a bit negative, but he was brushing off some tired boys.

GWS's midfield isnt that bad mate.

Ward, Greene (already a star), Scully and Palmer.. they are all pretty decent players.

The way he ran through the pack is not something that many players could do, against any team.

  4. Re Sylvia, I think Neeld will be champing at the bit to get Dawesy into the foward line. Allows Sylvia to rotate through the mid more often versus up forward. Will provide another dangerous option up forward and stretch the opponents defence a tad more too. But yes, mid field is the key and needs more talent unfusion regardless of Dawes injection.

Dawes injection will bolster things a little though.

Very interesting theory, which i agree with.

Col plays his best footy in the mids when running with the footy

  5. Can someone please find me in the last quarter Colin's run down the middle of the ground.

Im not sure if anyone remembers it, but if you do.. please can someone maybe who has some footage of the last quarter find me the clip.

    Most ridiculous run I've seen.

  6. 2014 is going to be a great year.

with the arrival of the biggest man made mountain to ever appear.

but who would you like to see out of trades and free agency at Melbourne?

    In:

    Out:

  7. although i feel as if Melbourne will be convincingly beaten against Brisbane, i do agree with what people say when they say foot's a confidence game.

Melbourne kickedd 12 goals and will surely take some serious confidence into the Brisbane game and do be surprised if we give them a run for their money, but it will catch up with us.

In my Opinion, we will lose by about 5-10 goals

  8. I agree it's time to lay off him.

He was not as bad as he is being painted and is being played way out of position. I don't get why we don't run him through the middle at times or even try him up forward.

thanks for the support buddy, everyone seems to love having their favourite whipping boy

  9. You obvioiusly were not at the game Sir He was in one word Pathetic

Jacks had his time.. No more excuses.

He stuffed us around today when the ball was in the backhalf & very nearly killed off the club today..

If we had lost because of the merry go round football he was dishing up, this Club would be In Melt Down... its not good enough.

He's got to go back to Casey for a month, & see if he can find some vigor. & if its not in him, que sera sera...

Do you know what i love, right now you bag him and spit on his name..

But if next week he has 25 possies and shreds it, youll be back on the ban wagon, just like with Jack Trengove.

He was not that bad today, at some points he wasnt great, but what do you expect when people like you are whipping him constantly. Do have confidence through the roof?

    lay off buddy.

    Hell come good

  10. And Jack Watts says we do not have on field leaders like Mitchell & Selwood... Melbourne have their own hard nut in Jones.

    disagree with you.

Jones is a very tough player we does well and gives his all.

But not in the same league at Selwood.

It hurts to say but we dont have a freak like selwood or mitchell
