You mean Kev has been hijacking closed training sessions ?

IF we win the big one will it be cheese boards and hipster food trucks at Gosch's or can we talk the MCC in to letting us into our home ground.
-
BBO sounds like you may not have visited our palace of pain at Casey Fields. Bar = shed selling cans They only open the shed on the far wing on big days
-
Other than Dunstan there's no genuine mid from the MFC playing at Casey not to mention a ruckmen. Given the age and quality of the MFC senior midfield one can understand this but it's only a few years ago that most on this Board used to say you can't go wrong drafting a mid fielder

If Collingwood can do this deal for $300k and get back a late first rounder .......... speechless 300k is the price of a player bordering on the lower end of a clubs bottom 6 of best 22 I assume the Magpie forums are full of how Brodie will do the right thing for the club and go where the Pies can get the best deal

Joel Smith set to sign new contract extension.
Diamond_Jim replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
One can see the argument both ways for the one v two year contract. At a salary cap planning level it makes sense in that you try to avoid having too many outliers in your plan. If we give him one year and he plays say 14 decent games at senior level his value in year 2 goes up a lot. Similarly he's out of contract and open to other offers. It's a gamble but it makes sense. For his sake two years injury free would be wonderful -
It's an AFL training team so I think MFC players are safe The problem is usually the other way in that when the AFL team ceases to play many of the MFC players are retired for the season

Saw that a few hours ago and was going to comment albeit perhaps with less emotion. The reality is that VFL crowds of any significance are loss making. Crowd control. additional toilets...the list goes on for very little revenue. Nevertheless get along and enjoy a great day out. Take a folding chair or a picnic rug, take the kids enjoy the grass verges and most importantly breathe it in as you walk the oval in the breaks

Overseas Dees - How are you watching the finals?
Diamond_Jim replied to deanox's topic in Melbourne Demons
Amazed that it works. These days places like Kayo subscribe to a third party service that tracks VPN's. Most people report losing Kayo this year. Even ABC IView now has a VPN tracker. Suspect that content providers demand it as places like kayo are happy to sell a subscription to anyone- 61 replies

A great practical lawyer and administrator. He lectured me in Ethics at Summer School a very long time ago. A lovely man. I was involved on the periphery of one club's Board at the time. Insolvency was a real threat and there were a few banks that were scared of public reaction if they ever had to exercise their security over the grandstands on the various suburban grounds

It was for the movie Produced by the PM's son from stolen money. Di Caprio had to give a bit back. Just google 1MDB
-
Not so sure about other clubs being willing to pay a lot more. Like us they can all smell blood in the water after the Treloar fiasco. Pies have said they'll pay $300k but it's the contract length that will drive the price. Add to that no increased TV revenue means no increase of any meaningful amount in the salary cap. Could we see a variable deal based on games played and other KPI's. Probably not but the risk sharing formula will be interesting

Not exactly a role model movie on so many levels

The Wolf of Wall Street was funded by stolen money from the Malaysian government. (1MDB) Ex PM finally started a 12 year prison stretch last night.

As you say an interesting question Smith will definitely play 4 quarters. He's a mile off senior selection. Bowey and Jordon... difficult to say

Always thought WCE would be his home but I thought they might wait until Nic Nat is closer to retirement. Their ladder position this year puts them in such a great position that they may feel they need to move this year. What better use is there for picks 2 and 20 (?) Money (salary cap) could be an issue but I'm sure it could be worked out
-
First rounds of finals have never been close to a sell out so I wouldn't worry. Collingwood v Geelong is the hotter ticket by a mile Freo won't sell out.The Gabba might get closer
-
????????? source His not playing last weekend was said to be a precautionary move only

LJ could easily walk to WCE were he so inclined. No way would North pay $1M per year for a player who wants to be in WA. Beware the Western squeeze.... They can be a strange lot over there

The usual change thread for a "no change" week goes for an average of 12 pages.Given the 2 week hiatus we might get to 20 pages

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
Diamond_Jim replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Like most I expected that Hibberd would be forced out by the Casey youngsters this year but how wrong can one be. Does he and possibly Melksham go around again in 2023? -
Rankine for pick 5 but there are many who say we should be happy with 10,14 and a reserve grade ruck for Jackson. Did Rankine have a good 2021/22. Can recall when he burst on the scene but I haven't followed GCS for the last two years
-
Hell I thought it was the "OTHER" Jackson !!

How serendipitous that we play Sydney at our home ground. Early weather forecast showing a beautiful day. 18 degrees and light winds. Time to enjoy the legendary bacon and egg roll.

Any thoughts on what was a blitzkreig in the first half became a comparatively even tussle in the second. Did we stop doing anything?
