  1. hmmm Old Dee, are you old enough to remember the tactics Essendon employed on our players before the ball was bounced in the 2000 GF? I also recall Michael Long's cowardly hit on a teenaged Troy Symonds in that same contest. Perhaps it could just be argued that it's a professionally competitive arena and "whatever it takes" is justifiable... but this time it's caught up with them. I'm not voicing any hatred for Essendon, but can understand why many Dees supporters still hold some.
  2. Won't we all be excited when we're winning games again? Can't wait.
  3. OK. I thought that was sorted. Thought it was an aerobic thing.
  4. How does someone like Davey become unfit? Is it is own personal fault or is everyone in the team unfit because of our substandard fitness program? How long does it take to get fit? We've been hearing Davey has not been fit enough for years.
  5. Reckon if we were on a path to winning finals and flags with this foundation, we'd now be winning some home and aways every now and then.
  6. I've always thought Neeld has been speaking the truth as he knew it at Collingwood. Been external from the start. And we welcomed it.
  7. I thought Fitzroy was still with us... just up north. Reckon saying it's defunct (no longer existing or functioning) is probably more of a slight than comparing it to MFC.
  8. I think the difference is pm24 that although Sydney was really bad in those times, each new coach that came in made on field improvements. Not massive wins, not finals, but noticeable improvements. The corner was in sight. Since Neeld’s reign of terror began, we've become less competitive than ever and we’re actually getting worse as each week goes by. How bad can it get before we turn 'a' corner? I know there are times when one must take a step backward to move forward, but judging by the 30 steps backwards (2012-13) we've taken and what appears to be our future trajectory, I don’t think it’s unfair for members and supporters to be frustrated and having a lack of respect for the words currently coming out of the club. The party line started with 'that's where we're at', became 'training doesn't match on field performance' and now, 'we just need to demonstrate an effort’. What will we hear on Sunday night? 'We just need to show some interest' I do agree with you that being disrespectful of players is not cool, but I’m not sure Harrisonrules showed any disrepect to the MFC players in his/her post. There's no shame in being one team, having a single message and towing a party line, but only if that line has substance and lasts a little longer than a week. Let's stay on the 'reality bus', we've won 4 quarters out of a possible 28 this season. 3 of those were against expansion franchises. It's hardly a respectable result. Notwithstanding any of the above, actions speak louder than words.
  9. Was it not Mike Sheahan that wrote the "pathetic and disgusting" article in the paper formerly known as the small paper?
  10. She's a football gossip columnist and should only be read that way.
  11. From memory it took Roos 2.5 seasons to win the 2005 flag. Would that be about 60 games? He won 6 out of the last 10 as a caretaker in 2002. um... 6 out of the last 10. Reckon I'd give him a clear run at right now if he was interested.
  12. Spot on! Those boys were inspired. I was inspired watching them. Hard work is inspiring. Neeld is supposed to be all about hard work. I've not seen or heard anything inspiring from him. I see surprise, dismay and deflection of our results when he speaks - hardly the qualities of a coach or a leader of men.
  13. Reckon Trengove has been on the whipped AOD cream.
  14. Seriously, if he's not fit why is he playing?
  15. I suggested something similar to this this week and the thread got locked. Don't disrespect our Captain. His on-field performance isn't important. It's what happens at the press conference that counts.
  16. Let's not forget about his 3 self-inflicted knee reconstructions...
  17. I never said Jack T hasn't tried to attack it or tried hard over the last 4 years. I just think he should be released from the captaincy (and that burden). Let him be the second tier, b-grade midfielder that he is with pride... no shame in that.
  18. Point being, where do you rate him in the competition as an onfield leader / performer / inspirer? Is it the long goals, the gut running, the run down chases, the pack marks, the smothers... or maybe the blistering bursts through the centre... What is it that you see that I don't that see that grants his captaincy... I have no doubt he's trying hard. His performances at press conferences are second to none.
  19. Essendon (Watson) Port Adelaide (Boak) Geelong (Selwood) Hawthorn (Hodge) Sydney (Jack, McVeigh) Richmond (Cotchin) Fremantle (Pavlich) Collingwood (Maxwell) Carlton (Murphy) Adelaide (van Berlo) Gold Coast Suns (Ablett) Brisbane Lions (Brown, Adcock) North Melbourne (Swallow) St Kilda (Riewoldt) West Coast (Glass) Western Bulldogs (Boyd) Melbourne (Grimes, Trengove) GWS (Davis, Ward)
  20. Did you see the second quarter Mr Curry and Beer? 2 goals, 8 behinds our opposition kicked in that 20 minutes.
  21. OK. So it seems we're happy with the way he’s travelling and the way we're going? That’s all I wanted to know.
