POSTGAME: Rd16 vs Carlton
Two things I learned today: 1) The umps gave us a stellar run in the first half and then proceeded to do the same for Carlton in the second half. They must manufacture a nice even free kick ledger at the end of the game at all costs. 2) The crowd at a Carlton game perfectly mirrors the Carlton supporters I know in real life. They are absolutely clueless about the rules of the game. Even I couldnāt bring myself to scream āBallā or ā50ā at some of the crap they do.

Maybe they got a work experience kid in to help out? My work gets one about this time each year.- Braydon Preuss: The Forgotten Man
My reading of the Preuss situation is thus: Max Gawn is Melbourneās #1 ruckman. He is contracted until the end of 2021 at which time he will be 30 years old. Many factors will determine what happens with Max at the end of 2021 but you might assume he will get another contract that takes into account how many more years his body can handle rucking and whether we have a spot for him to rest forward etc. Braydon Preuss is Melbourneās #2 ruckman. He is contracted until 2021 at which time he will be approximately 26 years old. Many factors will determine what happens with Braydon at the end of 2021 but you might assume that he would now have 3 years of training with and learning from the premier ruckman in the AFL under his belt. If he has learned well from Max he might get another contract with Melbourne. Or he will be able to seek a trade to another club that needs a ruckman (and there is always one or two that do), and he will probably do well out of it having done his apprenticeship under Max and at 26 will still have a few years of football left to make his own mark. Iām thinking there is a long term approach to this with both Melbourne and Preuss benefiting. We get a backup ruck for the next 3 years and at the end we either have a ruck to take over from Max or an easily tradeable ruck commodity. If he gets a few senior games rucking or in the forward line in the meantime then thatās a plus for him.- POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Adelaide

Foxtel did it for a few AFL games in the early 2000s. I recall being at a friends place watching an AFL game and pressing the red button on the remote to turn the commentary off and change camera angles. It was a bit clunky but definitely could have been refined into something quite good. Below is an example of how it looked with the rugby. The audio could be changed to commentators off but still with crowd noise on and I think their was an option to have the umpires audio feed as well. Cannot believe with todayās technology that this is not possible, as always, itās about the money.- T Macās 150th

- POSTGAME: Rd 1 vs Port Adelaide
On this point, I watched several of the other games from Round 1 as well attending our match and watching the first 3 quarters of our replay. The broadcast of most games showed the benches several times with the runners holding up various signs with some fairly obvious meanings (such as Port with their ā10ā speed sign indicating 10 minutes left in the quarter). Either our signs were not shown on the broadcast (and I was behind the interchange at the actual game so I couldnāt see there) or we didnāt have anything other than the runner and a sign to indicate player numbers for rotations. Anyone know what we were doing signal wise for plays or tactics? (If anything?) If weāre not running with any kind of signal system from the interchange bench could that have contributed to our poor showing? - Fans Behaving Badly?
