Not sure where this is? Do you have a link? It could be your info hasn't been loaded into the main system yet. If you ordered a card it may take a while for that to be printed and mailed. That aside, you may need to go back a few steps: Have you download the mfc app? If not do so, see: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/app . If you have, log in via the app and see what appears. There are a few more steps but will wait until you try the above. No need to panic there is an mfc membership window between gates 3 and 4 on game day to help people with this stuff.
-
You don't have to reserve a seat. If an mfc GA member or you buy a GA ticket at the gate you can sit in any unreserved part of the ground. If you are an mfc GA member you can upgrade to a reserved seat for a small fee. This is really only necessary when it is a big game or the GA seating is not to your liking. Even Anzac EVe doesn't sell out so GA entry is likely to be in the top tier which suits some people.

Originally it was 72 hours before the game but some weeks it seemed to be more like 48 hours beforehand. It may depend on start time but not sure.

Death Riding Fremantle 2023 - Feathered Cap Edition
Lucifers Hero replied to adonski's topic in Melbourne Demons
i wasn't at all suggesting that O'Meare emulate Mundy or Mundy's achievments. I was talking about game day roles. O'Meara is an inside player and extractor as Mundy was and that is what Freo will expect of hiim. -
As far as I know it is either membership card (reinstated by AFL this year, I think) or barcode on mobie app as last year. Other posters might be able to clarify further.

@Demonland I noticed there is a new Forum for Training reports. Have I just not been observant or is this a new Fortum? Just not too sure in which Forum to look for new training reports. Thanks.

Dees Miss Out on $1 Million Champion Club Award
Lucifers Hero replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree with both of you a points system for ladder position works better than wins. However, on a total club basis there is still the distortions by the fixture in particular the AFLW where a team players only 9 of the other 17 and is designed to benefit the newer/lesser teams. It is almost a two conference system: the prior year's top 8 to 10 predominantly play each other in the H&A season. Ditto the bottom 8 to 10. So I would prefer a $1m reward be split for each of the Minor Premiers and the 'champion club' the latter being based on ladder position/points. At least this way the best performing teams get a reward. In AFLM Premiers get over $1m for players and club. I assume a similar system if not the the amount happens for the AFLW. So I would be ok with the McClelland reward being for the H&A season. ps 'Big Col'. Well done for foreseeing the AFL proposal so long ago. -
Dees Miss Out on $1 Million Champion Club Award

This is the last word from me🙃. Games won will be heavily distorted by the draw in both comps. In the AFLM by who plays the bottom 4-6 teams twice. The impact of the draw is even more significant in the AFLW where each team plays only 9 of the other 17 teams and the draw is designed to give the new teams more wins. AFL, change the method!! -
Dees Miss Out on $1 Million Champion Club Award

Last word! Given the newness of many of the AFLW teams only a handful of clubs can win the $1m in the near future: Dees, Lions, Pies with Freo and Cats outside chances. -
Dees Miss Out on $1 Million Champion Club Award
Lucifers Hero replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I get the AFL is trying to foster a 'one club' mindset but not sure 'games won' is the best way to do it. I would prefer that the $1m be split and an amount (eg $400k) goes to the team that finishes on top of the ladder in the AFLM and the AFLW comp, regardless of the club. Then an amount (eg $200K) to the 'Champion' Club based on the proposed 'games won' method or on an improved method. $1m is a huge amount for a club. I fear the AFL (as usual) has not thought through the possible outcomes of their 'games won' method and in some years the $1m will be a reward for mediocrity. -
Dees Miss Out on $1 Million Champion Club Award

This is bound to throw up anomalies! eg A mens and womens team could both be on the fringes of the 8 with enough wins to get the points to be the 'champion' club and get the $1m. While in the same year another club may have one of their teams at the top of the ladder after H&A and their associated team be further down the ladder but not have many wins. That club misses out on the $1m. Realistically how often will both teams be at the top end of the ladder? 'Games won' is a poor method in my book. It will favour clubs where both comps are mid tier. The teams of the winning mid tier club may not even go deep into the finals. I love the idea but not the method. Given there is $1m up for grabs I feel the criteria needs to ensure that the best teams and club does get the prize. -
I'm not the only one that thinks they will struggle with cohesion:- bont-s-role "Even [Bontempelli] admits the biggest challenge whenever he streams from a stoppage will be selecting which of his key forward options he kicks to, saying their ability to work in tandem is still being ironed out...There's probably a little bit for them to work through, in terms of them working together nicely..." I would go one step further and say cohesion challenges also apply to their mids and defence.

LOL!! Not sure about that phrasing... But I fully get what you mean: men also get the jibes and insults so a DL holiday is good for anyone when the going gets a bit rough. Layzie, you are much loved on here so hopefully there isn't the need for more DL holidays🙃 Just ignore the cheap shots and those that misinterpret.

Yeah but how out of touch can they be. Maybe just sour grapes!
-
I agree. I have always thought they fluked the 2016 flag. Good on them. Without that he would be long gone. Since then they have yo-yoed in and out of the 8 with a good 2021 to make the GF and get smashed. Otherwise, no top 4 and no consistency in reaching or progressing thru the finals.
-
With you on that. They have 4 over 30 yo players in their forward line and a similar number in the back line. Too much will be left to too few. imv their midfield additions won't be enough to compensate. They hope they can copy Geelong and rest their ageing players. But they will have to win a lot of games early in the season to do that and I reckon they have two many ageing players to give them all a rest. Geelong mainly rested Dangerfield, Selwood and maybe a few others. Of course they had the luxury of a good draw and there cattery fortress. I reckon they will be in a bunch of 4--6 clubs vying for 7th/8th.
-
On news reports it sounded like he may not have got the contract renewal he wanted. Despite their 2016 premiership and 2021 GF they haven't been a consistent finals team. Also, last year wasn't his best in the media. Will always be their hero but could quickly become 'yesterday's man'. Reckon he needs to regularly make top 4 and contend in at least a few PF's in the next 3 years to keep his job.

Except McVee, pretty sure all are top 10 draft picks, most of them from the 2022 draft so not yet 'known'.

I don't think they are allowed to vote for their own team or team mates. Not in his favour is whether he will play enough games. So the young fella has another fan out there.
-
Some interesting votes. grand-finalists-brownlow-top-eight-skippers-tips-for-2023 Oliver got the most votes (5) for the Brownlow. But as we know he has lots of opposition from team mates. The most surprising thing for me was that TWO CAPTAINS THOUGHT THE DEES WOULD MISS THE 8!!! 😐🙄😟 In what world do they live in. Big time disappointment coming their way!🙂

There is no draft to speak of for 2023 because of the 'extra' season in 2022 So the next draft of substance will be for 2024. Brisbane and Collingwood etc will get 2024 compensation picks for the loss of their players in this psp signing. They have lost experience and will want experience so draft picks in two years won't help cover the losses. The risk for us is that direct competitors (Coll and Lions) have a Tier 1 vacancy which they could use to lure one of our top Tier 2 players in the upcoming trade period. There is quite a gap in the $. They won't have worthwhile 2023 draft picks to use and are unlikely to trade players. However, it will be interesting to see if the AFL introduces the trading of future draft picks which will help Bris and Coll use their 2024 compensation picks in the upcoming trade period to replace lost experience. My guess is the AFL will, otherwise those teams will be disadvantaged for a year. So we aren't out of the woods yet...

Summary: Sydney did well in terms of quality but filled only 2 of their 5 psp spots. Ess filled 1 of 2 spots but not high quailty. Port filled their spots Hawks got 2 excellent signings (not sure how many spots they were allowed. Hopefully they perform much better this year so the AFL does not introduce more priorities for newbie teams as we will be the team most likely to suffer.

I could probably name about six regular posters and maybe a few who post occasionally. Probably 10 overall. Not many in the scheme of things. Nonetheless, kudos to all male posters😘. DL is a much nicer place than when I joined about a decade ago. Thanks guys especially those who have gone to bat for me when others have taken a variety of swipes or insults. It was especially those guys that kept me involved. Over the journey I've taken some self enforced DL holidays when it got rough. But really glad I stayed the distance.🙃🙂
