    But we don't.

We can drop next week, Collingwood win both of their last two games and we're tied on points.

Not sure what they'd need to close the percentage up, but that's the only way we'd lose it.

Sure Pies can win the next 2 and we lose next week but they would have a huge % to make up and I reckon that is most unlikely.

Correct me if I'm wrong but we would need to get polaxed next week to still not finish on top?

With the Saints win we finish top of the McClelland ladder and get the $1million!!

We can lose top spot on the H&A ladder depending on how the WCE and MFC games play out tomorrow and next week.   Hopefully, we are the Minor Premiers which puts us in the box seat for a Home GF!!

I'll give you the answers to the first two. You'll get the idea. Most of them are pretty obscure though.

    26 letters of the alphabet.

    7 days of the week.........

    Thanks.

    Got it.  A few more:

    • 4:  12 Signs of the Zodiac!
    • 6:  52 Cards in a Pack
    • 18: 12 Months in the Year

    I'm happy now! 🙃

I can solve quite a few others but how does the list help in the 'War of Words' duel?

Crows playing WC next week and us the lions

top spot on the line here

Lets hope North either beat the Crows tomorrow or drag their % down to mae it difficult for them to pas us on % next week ... of course we need to beat the Lions which I think we will.

It will be a tragedy if we lose top spot and rights for a Home GF on %...

Regardess, you'd probably win anyway.  Not exactly Quick Draw McGraw here.

And zero mixed feelings about you Luci… regardless of the colour of your username. It could be 💩 brown and I’d still love you. 😁

    SHEILAS UNITE!!!

Hmmm...in my mind's eye I've always thought of 'Luci' pronounced as Luchi...must be the Italian language influence...

Whatever the pronunciation I'm very fond of the endearment!

Yep, there are precious few Sheilas on this site so we need to stick together!!

Btw, how would you pronounce 'Luci':  Lucy or Luchi (exuse the odd spelling but it is the only way I can show the phonetics)

I'd argue it's a values proposition now mate. Draft picks or the player you eventually get. Six good or okay players versus one Christian Petracca or Clayton Oliver. I like the aggressive backing of our recruiting team.

But it sounds like it's a moot point anyway.

Wasn't suggesting that.  More about what else we could do with the picks we have left.  eg my post above about using 11, 42 and F! to chase another top 10 pick eg GWS's pick 7 and take two top players.

While I do not wish this on any player quite a few #1 players of the last decade or so have left before their time or suffered career limiting injuries:  HWSNBN, Patton, Boyd, McCartin, Rowell (altho I hope he gets back to his elite best).  Not many #1 picks have reached their full potential.

So I stand by what I said a few weeks ago:  I am not enamoured by the #1 pick even if it is Reid.

I also think that our offer will fail even tho it is on paper the better offer.  The north offer gives WCE a better chance of landing the players WCE are said to be targetting.

People overrate picks too much. If Reid is the best player in the draft, do whatever it takes with your draft pick currency to get a deal done.

We've put it out there, doesn't sound like it's going to happen now.

@Mach5 is probably right and we need to pivot to facilitate the play for North, whilst strengthening our own draft hand.

This is no longer about picks and points.  It is the opportunity cost of giving up picks 6, 14, 27, 35, 42 and F1 for one player.

The article says:  "Under the Kangaroos’ offer, they were getting extra value equivalent to pick 23, while under the Demons’ offer (if they were to finish fourth again next year), they were getting extra value equivalent to pick 8."

Our offer differential is better than equivalent pick 8 when the full trade value of 11 is factored in.

Fully trust JT et al  but...

Bad words are subjective. Posters might not think it is rude when referring to others as idiots but posters most definitely take offence when it is they that are being referred to as the [censored].

Believe me anytime someone on this site was called an [censored] they complained. It was easier for moderating purposes to censor the word.

And here I was thinking you called him an [censored].

I will let this one slide because you are the only poster with an aqua colouring to your name. 😜

Andy, I see that you have special rights when calling someone an idiiot and able to bypass the censor...

I guess I should be grateful you let me off the hook, this time....🙄

Edit:  LOL the censor even works in quoted posts!!!  But only for the singular!!!

I think WC will initially set a high bar, but should eventually realise the best result for them is to split the pick for as much as they can get. I think they’re trying to tease more out of North. We should/will pivot to working with North to “assist” them to get pick 1, and strengthening our hand in the process.

I know the numbers look bad in terms of “selling the farm” but I think when you look at the prospects available, it’s the smart move for us.

I would prefer we keep 6 and use 11, 42 and F1 to get another top 10 pick and get two top 10 players than go all out for Reid.

GWS's pick 7 would be a good target (+/- other picks) as they also have 16 so a decent hand to swap or take to the draft.

  16. An [censored] to have Oliver at #30 for 2024!!!

Ok 2023 has been a bad year for him but scribes write him off at their peril and have massive egg on face next year!!

Edit:   Seriously!!!    Idiiot is censored!!!    What is the world coming to!!!  I'm putting in this edit just in case readers think I used a really bad word...

Collard will be bid well before pick 40, not just by Fremantle, North with their first 5 picks inside 19 will take a punt on him

I was thinking he would go in the 25 to 30 range but yeah maybe higher now.

Have WCE 'snookered' themselves?  They take Reid with pick 1 and probably miss out on both Curtin and Collard.  Or they cash in pick 1 with North for 2 or 3 (Curtin) and a late 1st round (Collard) and possibly pay overs for both.  Or take our offer and risk missing Curtin at pick 6 and maybe missing Collard as well.

WCE will need to do some nifty pick trading with more than one club if they hope to get both players.

6,11,42,F1 for Pick 1 is incredibly generous.

Especially when pick 11 cost us 14, 27 and 35 generally thought as us paying overs.

So the offer is really 6, 14, 27, 35, 42 and F1 ie  3 first round picks plus 3 second round picks

    Crazy stuff!!

  19. This will make WCE decision on picks for ND1 interesting. 2023-lance-collard-fremantle-west-coast-eagles

"Fremantle has interest in exciting WA forward prospect Lance Collard, to the point where West Coast is considering trading ahead of the Dockers to ensure it still lands its Next Generation...

...Collard, who grew up a Fremantle supporter, is tied to the Eagles via their Next Generation Academy. Yet West Coast can only match a bid on him if it lands outside the top 40 picks — and it now seems highly unlikely Collard will slip past the top 40.

    The Dockers hold Picks 34, 46. 60, 64 and 81 in this year‘s draft, while the Eagles have Picks 1, 23, 37, 58 and 85"

How far ahead of Freo will WCE have to jump to get Collard, especially as Freo have a fist full of extra 2024 first round picks they can use to keep leap frogging WCE?

We don't have a pick in the 25 to 30 range to offer WCE as part of an ND 1 package  We could get one via another club but it is getting harder to see how we can get ND1.

WCE might now be interested in one or more of those late first round picks North previously offered.

We appear to be at 35 Senior (including Disco) - 3 Rookies.  Can't we take 3 ND picks and go to 38-3 and still have a rookie slot?

If we rookie Melksham and go to 34-4 that potentiallly gives us 4 primary list/ND spots to go to 38-4? We probably don't need to do this though.

That is all correct.  As long as we don't exceed 42 in total and stay within the category limits it is fine.

In recent  years we have maxed out the A rookie spots as part of their $ is excluded from the TPP.  Given that this year we seem to have a bit of TPP capacity that could change.

    Billings 2 years -

    McAdam 3 years -

Fullarton 2 years (I couldn't find any reference after the trade, only this from before the trade) -

    That is great!  Thank you.

I'will change those details with the next update.
