  1. I know right? How embarrassing.
  2. Luke Jackson? I think he’s got a long term contract in WA.
  3. Thirty mother trucking six!
  4. I guess I’m ok with it. 🥹
  5. I disagree with this. Scoring is now born from winning a turnover and going quickly through the middle of the ground. I know some don’t like it, but it’s high risk, high reward. It’s fascinating to look at the scores from the weekend. I think teams are now aware that they’ll turnover some, but it’s the most efficient way to score. Geelong let Essendon kick over 100 points. Most teams that won scored well over 100. So coaches aren’t trying to win 70 to 50 anymore. They acknowledge that they have to take more risks through the middle, and that they will get scored on if it doesn’t work. I also think this is having an impact on where teams are kicking goals from, and the subsequent effect on goal kicking efficiency. The game has changed a lot this year I think. Last year felt like competing styles. This year on the whole most teams are quicker and embracing more risk.
  6. I love how Collingwood winning annoys everyone so much that we start arguing with each other.
  7. I’d hazard a guess that the wind would be making it hard for marking forwards. Was really impacting ball movement that quarter.
  8. Wow! That was unbelievable from Melk.
  9. Will be interesting to watch Collingwood and see if it’s a reflection on the short turn around.
  10. Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti’s shape is giving 44 year old me confidence for next years draft.
  11. Last night was pretty pleasant for April.
  12. This is only a ‘major boost’ to the Northern clubs because some of them simply don’t have football club cultures, and so forcing 18 year olds to stay longer is the only way to keep them there. It doesn’t solve anything.
  13. Essendon played out of their skin against us 2 weeks ago, and now look terrible.
  14. Todays Geelong vs Essendon games is the ‘country festival game’ - which of course is being played in the city.
  15. The boys really got around him last night when he kicked a goal. They know his value.
  16. That was a bit surreal. At times tonight at the ground it felt like a preseason game in terms of pressure and ramifications. I think about 12 of our goals the boys kicked and looked around wondering where the pressure was. We did everything we needed to do, and I really liked the mix of midfield players at times. We got a look at a few things tonight without sacrificing anything - so that’s always good. And for the first time this year I came home with my voice, so that tells you everything you need to know about the experience of watching the game.
  17. Rumour at the ground is that the boys have an 8:30 group booking at Entrecôte, so wanted to get this wrapped up early.
  18. For a disciple you’re not much of a believer.
  19. He says rubbing his hands together.
  20. He seems devoid of confidence, and doesn’t seem to know where he needs to be to get himself going.
  21. I recently did a project with young Trans and Non-Binary folks and they were actively trying to get ‘youse’ used as an inclusive, uniquely Australian term. I just kept thinking of Jeff Fenech (but didn’t bring it up because nobody else in the room knew he was). Language changes, constantly. I don’t think trying to keep up with it is as important as using it with grace and good will.
  22. Ashcroft just kicked goal of the year. The kid is a star.
  23. Yeah, they went after us physically in that game for sure. I’m hoping it’s not the same this year. We limped home after that.
