Essendon played out of their skin against us 2 weeks ago, and now look terrible.

The boys really got around him last night when he kicked a goal. They know his value.

That was a bit surreal. At times tonight at the ground it felt like a preseason game in terms of pressure and ramifications. I think about 12 of our goals the boys kicked and looked around wondering where the pressure was. We did everything we needed to do, and I really liked the mix of midfield players at times. We got a look at a few things tonight without sacrificing anything - so that’s always good. And for the first time this year I came home with my voice, so that tells you everything you need to know about the experience of watching the game.

Rumour at the ground is that the boys have an 8:30 group booking at Entrecôte, so wanted to get this wrapped up early.

I recently did a project with young Trans and Non-Binary folks and they were actively trying to get ‘youse’ used as an inclusive, uniquely Australian term. I watched the replay of our last game this afternoon. The intensity was 400% on this game. It’s a good watch if you’re bored. We played with great heart.

Their draw is very, very soft.

Port’s skills tonight are very average, their team defence is amateurish, and they are still only a goal down. Im not sold on St Kilda.

This is my favourite moment from the grand final celebrations. Hibbo had lost his brother in 2020, and I lost mine that year too. In that moment I felt like he was celebrating for everyone who didn’t make it. He just took the cup and was off! Makes me laugh, and brings a tear to my eye, every time I see it.

I’d pick Tasmania over Surfers Paradise or Bondi every time. Actually both of those places would be very close to the bottom of the list of anywhere in Australia to live.

The Sicily comments are quite interesting to me. Admittedly I’m not 21, and am in the demographic that knows a little too much about ‘small batch’ anything, but isn’t Tassie incredibly popular now, and rents are insane? Do we really think player retention will be an issue? Love to hear the local perspective.

Oddly the norm across the comp is eerily similar to regular life - don’t act like a smug, bitter tool.

That day is September 25 2021. Facts. I find it funny that supporters think professional athletes who literally spend all week reviewing and preparing for games would continue to make the same ‘mistake’ for 3 years.

I feel like we need to lower our expectations of forward line players, particularly given our game plan. Unlike other sides that go out of their way to isolate players forward of the ball we do the opposite - instead setting up for stoppage plays. It means some weeks some players will just, by the nature of the game plan, not have much impact. The forwards who are currently out of the side aren’t out of the side because of their inability to convert, they are out of the side because of their ability to compete. It’s a very role oriented game plan, even more so for our forwards. Koz is a star. When he gets on the end of them he usually makes the most of it. He can’t kick 4 every week, because we don’t set up needing him to do that.
