  1. I think you answered your own question. I think the club was concerned that the players have a history of putting themselves under too much pressure. I know that doesn't fit with the 'they are mentally weak' rant we get on here after a loss, but remember most of our top level talent are 20-23. Its a lot easier to play with nothing to lose. You just act on instinct. That's why Goodwin talked about 'habits' in his presser. Habits take over from instinct. Remember when Hawthorn were unstoppable and they'd win games from 3 goals down with 4 minutes to play? That's because they developed the 'habit' of not panicking and relying that other teams would.
  2. The wrist slashing on here is making me laugh. Stop talking up your own 'pain' like it's a badge of honour. The players care. Watch Goodwins press conference, and instead of getting angry about his tone, listen to what he actually says. He talks about habits. We are a developing side, who need to continue to develop elite habits. Its a work in progress. Anyone watch the Suns game last night? That was us 3 years ago, and if you think you can turn that ship around in 15 games then you don't understand how hard the competition is.
  3. Ugh. Today will be my personal hell. Im travelling for work and the flight boards at half time. 3 hours later when I find out the result I'm either going to be high fiving ground crew at the airport, or crying at an Uber driver. And to make matters worse I'm going to Adelaide.
  4. That's really sad. He was a terrific caller of the footy, and had such a recognisable passion in his voice.
  5. Hogan's wasn't a 50 99 times out of a 100. I'd call that an umpires mistake. Other players made a mistake and the umps were all over us. I can't recall another games where we've given away many 50's, so it not an ongoing issue.
  6. Just to be clear you've perfectly summarised literally everything that is wrong with the entire world. Politics, relationships, football. Well played.
  7. Something doesn't smell right at Freo. Is Ross on the move? The players look disinterested.
  8. I felt like he moved as well as I've seen him in 2 years today. He just looked fit, and he ran at the ball carrier a lot. His kicking was incredible too. He didn't look like missing. Just to give it some perspective Daniher has played 70 odd games straight for Essendon. If Jesse does that for us we will win a flag and he'll win a Coleman.
  9. From what I saw today Wagner and Stretch would be nervous, with Viney and Salem waiting in the wings.
  10. Jesse and Pedo worked very well together. We found a way to win. Our experienced players did a lot of very nice things when required. Ill take that, with the 4 points, and never watch that game again.
  11. Does anyone know if Kennedy have a contract passed this year?
  12. I agree. If Langdon had stayed down concussed Wines would have gotten 4 weeks. Jumped off the ground, chose to bump when he had other options, and was very, very late. I hate how much the 'chance' of an injury is playing into decision making. It means the action isn't being outlawed, and it's what makes the MRP look irrational.
  13. He's only 2 preseasons in, and he has shown an ability to dominate at VFL level. Some big blokes take a while. Maxy took 7 years. I'd say if he's playing like this in a year then we should be concerned, but I think if he can improve his endurance he could be anything. Once he feels like he 'belongs' it could really help him too. Don't forget he missed almost all of his footy 2 years ago - so psychologically he came in wondering.
  14. I don't worry about Max. He's a natural competitor. The club does needs to question the decisions against him so that we can rectify. The centre square infringements today really helped give them some momentum.
  15. Didn't watch Port Adelaide get done by 85 points in the wet last week, or Freo flogged by 100 points yesterday? Saints didn't handle the pressure, but thats because we brought it. I can't handle the negativity around here at the moment. It's pathetic (and boring).
  16. Well I've been critical of our leaders and older players all year. Jones was superb. Pederson was fantastic. Lewis and Hibberd did everything they could - including some fantastic body on the line efforts in the last. Well done lads. Makes me proud to be a Demons supporter.
  17. Dwayne Russell commentating. My mute button is going to get an absolute flogging.
  18. Really looking forward to this game. A real ground, a rocket under us, a lot on the line. This is the position we've worked so hard to get into over the last 4 years. Im also going to be supremely optimistic on DLand today. I know there is a lot of anxiety about at the moment but we need to keep the positive energy up. Support each other, remember we all love the club, and get excited when we play well!! Go Dees!
  19. I'm assuming they had to do it this week. They knew the AFL will now spend a week deliberating before retrospectively awarding the standing ovation to Trent Cotchin and Sam Mitchell in time for the final round.
  20. Next week is at Metricon. Its their first game outside of Melbourne in 8 weeks. Makes me wanna vomit.
  21. Yeah, I watched him tonight and thought we'd kill for him at Melbourne.
  22. I don't understand why channel 7 always barrack for Essendon? They talk up their 'risk taking' when they make basic errors. Are they that crucial to ratings?
  23. Was Salem reported by the umpire?
