  1. Ask the blokes that gave their full forward 2 free kicks that resulted in 2 goals. That’s the difference.
  2. Weak freak kick. Umpires being sucked in by crowd. I honestly think they are lucky to be this close.
  3. Am I the only one who think the jury is still a long way out on Sparrow? He seems an almost footballer to me.
  4. I forgot how much I dislike Eagles supporters. It’s was one of the only upsides to COVID not having to hear them clap in unison.
  5. Their list decisions are very odd.
  6. It’s very interesting looking at North’s forward line that they let Brown go for not very much at all. ?
  7. The other clubs spend no time thinking about us. All I was trying to say is that isn’t the supporters fault, it’s the clubs. They are different things. One has shown up for a very long time with little to no reward, while the other one at the very least draws an income. I don’t think it’s ok to blame supporters. My old man is in his 70’s and he’s not going to be bothered to show up, because he had to sit through crap losses for most of his life. If you think of it like a relationship - at a certain point if you don’t feel like you’re getting much from it, you stop giving much to it. I appreciate your passion Dr. I agree it’s super disappointing, but I just also completely understand and emphasise with other Melbourne supporters who feel somewhat disenfranchised. ?
  8. While I was just posing the question I think it’s a bit rich to blame supporters for the clubs on field struggles. Most Melbourne supporters have lived their entire life without a premiership, and have realistically seen their team play finals no more than a half dozen times. If they aren’t showing up it’s probably because they are pessimistic given what they’ve endured.
  9. Are Melbourne supporters fickle, or are they just responding to the fickleness of the team? ?‍♂️
  10. Might want to watch the mid section of the last quarter. We had some shockers.
  11. Lever, May and TMac’s agility all positives. Our defensive unit are tight. The win is the biggest positive given we didn’t gel for large parts of the game. My biggest concerns: - the last kick into the forward line. We really butchered it a lot. We’ve had 4 years to work on it and it’s still deplorable. Watch the last quarter and we had 4 absolute shockers. - Our clearance work. We are making a habit of getting overworked in there, which is concerning given our list profile includes virtually no outside mids. - Harmes, Jones and Sparrow are concerns for different reasons.
  12. Exactly. Last years problems are this years problems - one outside runner, and no forward line. I’m still furious we didn’t try and bring in another winger. It’s been an issue for 4 years.
  13. The only thing I like about these articles is that I hope it makes Clayton furious that he’s been overtaken. I love him when he gets fired up.
  14. The pole statue reminded me of something out of The Office. I thought the players were going to burst out laughing when it was introduced. There’s such an emphasis on seasons have ‘themes’ now because of Phil Jackson, but the reality is that no amount of theming could be a stronger influence than Jordan. Good players and a good system always wins, I guess the other stuff is just designed to keep things feeling fresh.
  15. Calm down. We lost a practice match against a team that has us beaten for contested footy for the last 3-4 years - and we were missing 3 of our best 4 contested players. The week before we beat the premiers in a practice match. Where were these comments then?
  16. Good decision by the club. Speaks more to our values, and shows we listen. Happy with this.
  17. Sparrow is going nowhere fast. He’s been given the opportunity and just doesn’t look up to it. I hope he can turn it around but he doesn’t have any X factor that makes him special.
  18. If you can’t stop the bleeding in a practice match you’d have to be somewhat concerned about our defensive structures. Has been a Goodwin problem since day one of his coaching career. ?‍♂️
  19. How is that a free kick for English but not for May? ?
  20. It’s had to know what to make of this game. We lack our trademark intensity at the coalface, which is rectified by adding Viney and Oliver, and are lacking some class ball use and control - Salem. Im I am disappointed about the lack of forwards available. It’s been a glaring problem for 2 years and it’s the thing we need this time of year to work on the most.
  21. Yeah, we are getting sucked to the contest to quickly, where they have the experience to know to keep one out the back and trust someone will win the ball.
  22. Ok, gotcha. Me thinking it’s outdated and offensive is virtue signalling - but not the organisation that has spent its 150 year history, and its considerable financial means, LITERALLY signally to society that is doesn’t value women. I think they might have me covered on that one.
  23. Why don’t you take your wife. I’m sure she’d love to go.
