  1. A small part of me is pleased we got a touch up going into the bye. We can give the Premiership and 'perfect list' stuff a rest for a couple of weeks and work our backsides off rather than drink our own bath water. Theres no doubt the fixture has flattered us and we've got a few glaring holes to fill. Not only do we desperately need a run-all-day wingman like Gaff but we desperately need midfielders with some pace. We love them, but get it outside of Oliver, Viney, Jones, Brayshaw etc and it's Christmas if you're a mid with some acceleration like Treloar, De Goey and Adams found today. We need a Shuey/Shiel type. Heck bring Aaron Hall in on the cheap. I hope Goodwin's obsession with contest doesn't see us miss a pacey outside type, who by their very nature are not strong at contested ball. The cake is built now and it's time to add some run and class. With Lewis, Vince, Jetta and even Hibberd all closer to the end than than the beginning, and Wagner not exactly a dasher, we also need a few half back flankers that can run and kick. Hopefully by the end of the season Hunt and Baker can provide a bit of dash.
  2. Collingwood way too quick. Real pity Hunt has gone backward and Frost hasn't come on.
  3. Petracca trying to kick the cover off the ball again. A simple centre to Hogan goes 10m over his head. Tries the drilling ball a minute later and kicks it along the ground. Plays like a millionaire.
  4. Gawn clearly a target of Collingwood. Just bumping into him every chance they get. Too nice, big Maxy. Should have killed Langdon on the wing when he had the sit and Langdon was fully outstretched running back. Should have made a real statement.
  5. For a full time, $400k a year footballer, that we included a pick 2 to recruit, playing against plumbers and electricians. Yeah wow.
  6. Garlett was afraid to take possession of the ball against Richmond. He's a cat. Cant be trusted and is almost 29. No future at all. Hunt far too talented and young to have him rotting in the 2s.
  7. Would prefer to try Hunt forward over Garlett. No future in Jeffey. Hunt would at least chase and tackle like his life depends on it, and from memory he was a tricky match up and kicked a couple when he was thrown forward last year. Play him in a position where he can still use his athletic traits but his poor field kicking isn't as obvious - just like TMac.
  8. WB, we missed finals last year by 2 goals, copped all the rhetoric from players about how 'every moment counts', and we know you're going to be able to throw a blanket over ladder positions 5-10 at the end of this season as well. Percentage is bound to decide spots again. People have every right to be upset with a drop-off late in games. I'd be disappointed in our supporters if they were happy with a team that clearly lacks the ability to keep the foot on the throat.
  9. Roos on MMM: He's got some real penetration now in his kicking, Dom. When he first got to the club he had a couple of knee dislocations but he's been able to build his legs right up and he's got some real penetration now. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
  10. Hope Garlett stays at Casey until he plays well out there in the driving rain on a freezing day. It's no coincidence that he hasn't got anywhere near it against good sides in the rain and dew. He's the definition of not being able to trust Melbourne in big games and we're playing one short unless conditions are perfect and/or pressure is low. Fingers crossed Spargo can go past him quickly .
  11. David Mackay and Marc Murphy would provide some of the run we so desperately need. Menzel would provide some of the smart finishing we so desperately need. We need to be involved when players like Saad and Impey request trades. We seemed to put all our eggs in the Lever basket. I think the reputations of Gawn, Petracca and Hogan far outweigh what they produce on the field for us. I think there is no point in having a "quality" ruckman or key forward when the midfield has no pace or class, so I'd certainly see what you can get for them. Gaff will be useless sitting out there on a wing when we don't have the kicking skills or pace off half back or in the midfield to break a line or switch the play and get it to him.
  12. The bath has been empty for ages mate and the baby is now a teenager. This sh*t has been going on for far too long. Time to clear out the last players from the dark days and start again. Find a competitive physical ruckman on the cheap like Richmond did. Gawn will have trade value higher than what he offers MFC on field. The Lever trade is diabolically bad given the holes in our midfield. Gotta get back into the early part of the draft and it's going to take a Gawn, Hogan or Petracca to do that.
  13. vandenBerg McKenna JKH Johnstone Vince Lewis Maynard Garlett Pedersen Harmes Kent Bugg Trade Jones out of respect and shop Gawn to see if you can bring in a midfielder that can run and kick. Gawn is the most overrated player in the AFL. Zero to show for his ruck "dominance" and played better last year with him not there.
  14. In: Spargo, Baker, Fritsch, Hannan, Petty Out: Garlett, Harmes, Vince, Kent, Stretch
  15. Garlett should never play for the club again. He is an absolute cat. Some of his efforts tonight were disgusting.
  16. Why move him up to the box if he was doing such a terrific job for the past 2 years?
  17. An absolutely embarrassing and bewildering press conference from Gawn. Staggering that he would feel the need to air our dirty laundry so publicly and admit that Hawthorn won the mental battle and have a mental edge over us. Between the camp and this sort of talk, you would just be licking your lips coming up against Melbourne as an opposition player.
  18. The arrogance of Adelaide to play 5 key tall forwards in those conditions. Clearly just thought they'd be too good and could experiment. Wow.
  19. So because he was injured he wasn't part of the club while Roos was there and didn't attend any of the meetings or get any insight from the coaches into what professionalism and standards are? It was obvious the second Salem rocked up to the club that he had to go easy on his mum's cooking, strip a lot of puppy fat off and get serious. It shouldn't have taken years to get that message.
  20. Couldn't agree more. Every time I read an article like this about the penny only dropping now, or the stories from the end of last year about players not understanding what 24/7 professionalism means, I ask myself - what the heck was Roos getting paid $1.5m a year for? Yeah, he rebuilt the list but it is staggering the players had to miss the finals by 2 goals to understand professionalism. I thought the mental side of the game was Roos' bread and butter and I'm staggered the players still didn't understand professionalism until the pre-season just gone.
  21. Watch Isaac Smith tear us to shreds this week. Got it wrong round 1 with Maynard playing and Frost not. Should be 3-0.
  22. Seriously? The ones who've been saying all along that Lever isn't a key defender and needs Frost in the side? We'd be 3-0 if Demonland selected the side.
  23. If it helps shorten the season to a fairer system where you only play every team once, I'm all for exploring it.
