  1. A source close to the Herald Sun told me.... I have had the displeasure of on several occasions seeing exactly how the media make a story out an unrelated loose fact.... Its actually quite an art, but it doesn't make it right.
  2. Bottom line, I want Bennell back in and Dunn Out. Also wanted to make space in the midfield for Valenti to get more of an opportunity on the ball (Rivers in for Bruce). I was there on Saturday, and granted I was feeling the effects of a reasonable amount of Frothies, I thought ALL of our midfield performed well. So with the dilemma of dropping a solid performer from the midfield, I narrowed the field to those who probably wont play a big part in our next finals campaign... McDonald and Bruce... Macca Captain hence Bruce Out. For the record, I have been a LONG term fan of Bruce, and I thought he had a solid game on Saturday, but in my mind its all about the youth this year - My view is not driven only by the previous weeks effort. This is the first time in a long time that I have seen depth in our playing list.....
  3. Another example of Ambulance Chasing Journalism. IMO we require much more stringent controls over 'endorced' news media (eg. Age & Herald Sun). It should not make a difference if it is online or in print. In either case, if they report speculation as fact, they should be reprimanded. 'About as much credibility as a Collingwood Supporter with a full set of teeth'
  4. In: Bennell, Rivers/McNamara Out: Dunn, Bruce Dunn has been around long enough to be showing more than he is - Time for a run at Casey to get some confidence back - And hopefully some nuts. Rivers to replace if fit, otherwise McNamara to debut. Bruce to be given a rest to work on his skills and allow Valenti more game time on the Ball. Bennell obvious inclusion to continue improvement after West Coast game. I can taste Melbournes first rising Star nomination for 2009....
  5. 22 rounds and 16 teams - I can't see the AFL (or Rising Star voting Panel) nominating 3+ players from the same team. Bennel and Grimes a chance - And if Watts has a massive impact we will make the 3. Will leave Cheney, Maric, and Jetta unlucky Trivia question (I dont have the answer) - "Which team has had the most Rising Star nominations in a single year?" Where is that stat book.....
  6. 12 months ago, consensus appeared to be for Brock McLean to be our next Captain - As I look now, not a single poster has voted for Brock. Brad Green for 2010 (IMO should have been Captain for 2009), unless Brock matures and puts is hand up high in the next 6 months. I am keen for another long term captain to bleed for the club over the next 8-10 years... But at this point in time, I dont believe we have one ready.
  7. With the announcement that Ziebell just got the latest Rising Star Nomination, my thoughts shifted to our own young list. So who is in contention for a nomination this year? IMO the 2 most likely to get a nomination first are Bennell and Grimes. What does everybody think? Not sure how to post a Poll, but I would be interested see everyones thoughts. On another note, how many nominations could we realistically achieve this year? Is 4 beyond us?
  8. Breath..... This guy also seems to read the play very well as a defender. Isn't it funny that when a player shines in one position, all of a sudden we want to see them play EVERY position - Possibly at the same time. That said, I like what I see, and I would have no objection seeing him given a crack at playing forward also - I cant see the harm giving him a brief stint when we are next down at 50 odd points at 3/4.
  9. 63k With the MCC Members packed to the Rafters!!!!
  10. I guess thats why I didn't see him then.... My mistake - In that case its time for Bruce to make way for the youth.
  11. Out: Spencer, Dunn In: Martin, Sylvia Got exposed for lack of contested marking ability - Martin and Sylvia should help remedy that situation. Martin may provide as much of a contest in the ruck and around the ground as Spencer did, with the added benefit of providing an option forward - Look forward to seeing more of Spencer if the Martin 'pitch hit' in the Ruck experiment fails badly. Still unconvinced by Dunn. Liked what I saw of both Bennel and Jetta - Would like to see them on the big stage. Bruce is on borrowed time - Bring on the youth Policy.
  12. Lets hope for our sake and theirs that our defence holds true this year. KASPERSKY LAB
  13. Interesting I just did a refresh and it has disappeared..... perhaps it was uploaded a little prematurely.
  14. Try a refresh - It is right next to Hankook
  15. Kaspersky Lab antivirus software according to the MFC web banner
  16. Can someone provide a link to the article - Cant seem to locate it.
  17. Perhaps they should auction it off on eBay..... Guarenteed to generate some interest and it has got to be worth more than a burnt piece of toast that resembles Elvis....
  18. Signed up and Paid as part of my MCC renewal for next year - All too easy really. Fingers crossed the rest of the MFC supporting MCC members find the same!!!!
  19. Back ended contracts.... ie. For each: 1 million over 3 years Year 1 $200k Year 2 $300k Year 3 $500k Pure speculation here.
  20. Stinga.... Grinter.... and the year of Phil Read when he was at his Philthiest
  21. The Richmond Twit behind me was so keen calling: BAALLLLL!!!, DELIBERATE!!!!! , THROW!!!!!!, IN THE BACK!!!!!! At EVERY contest, including when Melbourne would have been the beneficiary of the free kick.... Astounding.
  22. Never suggested we should drop Dunn from the list - Suggested omitting him for this week (along with others) to make way for Martin as a match-up on Hall. I agree it is important to get more games into Dunn also, but I see it as less of a priority developing a tagger as opposed to a KPP. How would I find which purpose built current day tagger went as the highest draft pick?
  23. Excellent Topic PJ, Garland and Warnock started the year as Fringe players and have now earned their spots - Lets not drop them on 1 bad performance (if that comes) - PERSIST!!! Morton - Has also worked his way in to a secure spot. Due to body size, should be carefully managed and rested (occasionally) throughout the remainder of the season; Lets not break him. Chris Johnson - A run of consecutive games could be the make or break for CJ, has been around a while now, needs every opportunity to prove he belongs before the end of the year. Valenti - Actually thought he perfomed well and was surprised he was dropped on early performances - Should be played as much as possible for the remainder of this year. Petterd - Pending injury and fitness permitting... Would be great to see him get back to where he was on debut Frawley - Needs some consecutive games and decent game time to develop (Not to mention some time in the gym) All the Youth - Martin, Grimes, Maric, McNamara, Cheney, Zomer- These guys are the future, lets start building today. It would be great to get a couple of games into each of these blokes by years end - Bit of Top Level game experience cannot be a bad thing to take into the pre season.
  24. Dunn now has more than 30 games under belt - Had no idea it was that many. And I hope he has been tagging all year - He has not had more than 14 touches in the 8 matches he has played this year. He also was a tagger in several games in 2007. I realise Dunn is only now in his 3rd Season, and still only 21, and that he has also still got plenty of developing ahead of him, but as what? IMO i dont believe he has shown enough as anything yet, perhaps it is a result of his role changing every week, but to me he often looks lost - Was I under a false allusion that he was touted as a future Forward KPP? Did he really go as Pick 15 in the draft? In my mind, it is vital we get games into the next wave of youngsters this year eg. Martin (note Martin is actually 6 months older than Dunn), Maric, Grimes, and Zomer - Lets see what they have to offer!!!!
