  1. Hmmm yeah you got me. I refer to Demonland and support the Dees. Wear my old Melbourne Demons branded hats scarves shirts and jackets. Perhaps this schizophrenic support is the root of our problems. I have always argued that we are Melbourne ever since the aborted Hawthorn takeover. I continue to maintain the Melbourne name is our strongest ally in avoiding relocation etc. Also Melbourne should be more definitively used as marketing an promotion identity, leveraging off every other "Melbourne" campaign. Still don't want to dilute the passion of my statement. We, Melbourne Football Club, must retain our rightful place as the premiere club. We must win a premiership!

    Fantastic!
  3. I'll Put my hand up. i was disappointed we let Watts go and disappointed we let Hogan go. But I didn't know the full story and supported the club. I think we missed both but have also moved forward with a better list. Also disappointed that Frosty's gone but think we have improved the list. Watts and Hogan haven't gone on yet to be unqualified stars of the like of Burgoyne, Jarman, Ablett Wanganeen, who can singlehanded affect a clubs fortunes. I am sure Frosty's not in their league and I reckon we have enough stars to step upthat we will not miss him. im looking for our current list with the new additions to really step up and surprise many other clubs. This is the first year of the Demons. We can win and continue for another 4 years as the kids hit their straps.
  4. Upper body is fantastic. Hope he has core strength through thighs and no weakness in knees and ankles. Also hope our propensity with foot injuries does not strike. Hes just another of our youngstars who can develop this year to begin our resurgence and bring success.
  5. It's a game of infinite variables but chaos theory says there are patterns in the data. Lets unlock the information and use it wisely
  6. Sometimes its good to know how bad you are. But it's even better to know how bad your opponents are. Hope he can bring both sets of data to the club. This detail can inspire coaches and players to improve performance. Will watch with nterest but uncertain if we will ever be informed.

Watson and Sosson would make an interesting coffee joint.

We could ask Jack what he thinks of him?
  9. Some good comments on this thread. I hope supreme gets to the forum and puts his points. its a complicated business. I can remember so many 5 year plans discarded after 3, with never any thoughts of the 10, 20 plus that we have endured. Theres plenty of mature knowledge in Dland from experienced professional and business people who can add value to our club not only through their membership but through their engagement.
  10. Not sure of the year but my Dad took me to a Melb v Saints game at junction oval. i was under 7 years age coz we moved from Mornington to Traralgon. Dad had played at Dromana with Eric Guys dad and was and is still a saints fan. We went to see the tank play but all I saw was Tassie and Bob Johnstone at both ends. We have both lived glorious lives despite ou teams lack of success.
  11. Totally agree. The potential must be released through improved coaching patterns,( chaos and tempo combined,) attitude, (second efforts) ,techniques (shepherding and support running and skill (kicking esp for goal) All coachable for a group at their optimum age and experience point.
  12. Good get with Robby who still has a great presence around the club. Again could inspire a few of our potentials to give their all. He was unfortunate to play in sides that did not have the collective talents of our current squad and yet he has an impressive highlights reel.
  13. Brad Green would be my choice. He was a natural forward one of the few strikers that we have had until the club decided to make him more versatile and destroyed that intuitive reaction. Not sure what his career score line was but he was a great kick to commence with, probably hasn't forgotten that skill set. Seemed to have a sound technique. Neiter was one out of the box and one of our few champions of that era. But he missed so many "captains goals" ( the ones that you really have to get to swing or maintain momentum and confidence) that I never had confidence in his technique But both sharing and inspiring our potentials would surely lift morale and confidence as well as technique.
  14. Thanks Rusty i understand and agree with all you have said. i do appreciate your table and hope it continues. All that said Stretch does seem the outlier who performed well at Casey and didn't get rewarded, was only given a single chance on promotion before being dropped while others were given multiple games. Only at the end of the season was he given a string of games. By then the whole side was playing without confidence and cohesion. in short I reckon he got a raw deal. Did Todd and Steven have some history that was reflected on the siblings. I saw him play live only a few times and he was far from the worst on each occasion but still got no recognition. I like him from the name and may be biased but would hate to see him leave, and especially play well at another club with a different regime. But I said the same of Watts and Hogan but appreciated the club makes decisions with more players nformation than I can possibly contemplate. i will watch with interest as always and support the Dees
  15. Good points Saty. Confidence is big factor.I have banged on a bit all year about umpiring impacting on confidence and our technique failures which may affect that. Have called for umpiring advice at training but not sure if that occurred. Also training intensity to match game day situations. Not sure how that is inserted at training. Have always enjoyed your training reports and will look forwa d to you commenting on those two issues next season.
  16. Billy Stretch??? The forgotten player. Does his position on your chart identify a weakness in your otherwise sound analysis?
  17. We do need an irony font. But seriously, why would a person leaving be placed in such a representative position. i reckon it could be an indicator that he stays. Personally I don't care that much. The whole squad needs a real change of attitude and approach. None of them should be looking at wage increases until they win a flag. I don't know how popular most of our players would be to any other club they have proven nothing. Every one has potential but few have shown it consistently.
  18. Apparently he's the fastest at the club? The "face" of the club at GF? OR was that his opportunity to increase his salary? You know, win this Frosty and you go up a pay grade, lose and you don't?

Thanks blokes .Would like it if my prediction is proven but like all demon supporters wouldn't put money on it

GWS must win this year. As the AFL. (love child) investment vehicle , it is important that they provide a positive example (return) as inspiration for the invasion into NSW. So it is important that eye get this out of the way before Melbourne is allowed to begin their reign of superiority built on years of failure. GO GWS THEN GO DEES
  21. Perhaps Dlanders could prepare a list of questions. They could be refined through comment to ensure no Dorothy Dix answers and an insistence on answers from the club not from other Dlanders. This can be done to allow those of us who are a bit remote and cannot attend an opportunity to have our question directed to the club.
  22. dpositive replied to Drunkn167's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes Drunkn Dec has achieved more than many and his dedication and perseverance did reap some small reward. His game was memorable and it's a pity he could not become one of our regular top players. I hope he continues to ply his trade and can enjoy the game at any level. I also hope both he and you continue your passion for the red and blue through more than occasional visits. Your comments tinged with the insiders perspective we're always wonderful and in no way condescending to us less favoured . You also never betrayed any insider confidence although I imagine you had some. Please continue to give your forthright opinion as I always welcomed it. We have had many years of disappointment but indeed our hearts still true, I am hoping you both will provide us with some personal thoughts as we all continue our journey. You will always be welcome in Beechworth and if you identify yourself at Tanswells I am sure there will be some crazed demon supporter to shout you that drink. I hope it's me.
  23. Not sure of the Maxwell type option as your own last suggestion also indicates. However that last option does have real merit. Any imports must be introduced with genuine and transparent directions to themselves and teamates. They must be able to absorb and enhance existing leadership personalities.
  24. I may still hoping we can create a new model. Our young list was just too young. But we have now had a chance to expose the really underdone to the big time ( and found a few,Fritsch,Petty, Hore, Sparrow and a few others ) who now know what they need to do. Weed was really just too light and needed another season to grow into a heavier model. We have a good collection of heavier bodies nowTmac, May, Lever, with the Trac Oliver, Brayshaw young talented but no longer a surprise to opponents, but they are talented enough to lift and with players around them providing space and support they can take the next step and provide a solid core. Towering above them all Max with Pruess to provide a cut out support tapman. Jones can provide visible evidence of how hard it can be and instil the required passion even if he spends most time at Casey unless he earns it. Goodwin doesn't play favourites and uses the whole squad based on the solid core having rotational support and maybe even rest, depending on the opposition. Well that's all it takes blind optimism. I hope that the draft is used for future consolidation and not a messiah and we can pick up someone who will support our existing and not create a new schism between the group who should now be embarrassed and hungry to return to the top echelon in the league. We all deserve better than 17th
