  1. what are we going to do if we happen to win this weekend. We will have sharpened the knives for nothing. I expect this board will be silent.
  2. i reckon you should look back to the suggested recruits at draft time here on Demonland Nutbean...see who the posters were touting and then see what we did on draft day. Thus far, Darling was a miss as Lucas Cook will be a pimply faced bean pole for years to come. John Butcher was another of the punters favourites as I recall. We missed him and then paid massive overs for a ruckman come key forward in Mitch Clark aa few seasons later. At this time, NikNat is ahead of Watts yet we preferred the Brighton Grammar party boy yachting type. I will wait 2 more years to call this one. What you seem to miss however, is the fact we recruited too many of the same player and now have massive massive gaping holes in our list. It was not a horses for courses approach as far as I am concerned. We missed the opportunity to fill needs that we all saw first-hand on saturday
  3. what p!sses me off is that we seem to have recruited a bunch of skinny kids with good character from nice neighbourhoods instead of the best availablee players in the draft. we kept hearing the concerns about player personalities and so forth, being a problem for the MFC. Personally, i don't give a sh!t about player personalities or whether the player is going to impress the Coterie down at teh Melbourne Club...
  4. I wanna see Tom McDonald, Tom Couch, Sellar, Tappy and Gysberts in the side and I could not give a toss who goes out. They were all equally pathetic. I think the axe ought to fall on the experienced players though.
  5. glad we agree on that. I think he is a certainty to be traded at years end. We need to get an outside mid, with pace and silky skills, we have enough in and under plodders. Especially now we have Magner who looks the goods. I would like to see couch this week and Tappy in the mids.
  6. BTW ask Tom Scully who was smashing [censored] in China and acting like a twit! Could be interesting
  7. Hardtack, you are ironic! I said "You only have to look at his FB page". Not all I was basing it on. Read my post in full mate. From what I have heard blah blah blah...you seem to read what you like and then pick a fight..
  8. listen Hardtack, if you wanna be a smart ar$e, try it on someone else. Was Brent stripped of the vice captaincy last season because he was out lat drinking beers? Was Colin Sylvia photographed at Baroq House after 186 and then on the front page ofg the confisdential section of the paper..Maybe your party days have past you, but if you are like me and still get out on the town you would be ashamed to see what i see.
  9. wow...just wow. how we stuffed this up again. FML...i give up!
  10. The point is, I hear Beamer doesn't respond well to authority and likes to think he is in charge all the time. Others have commented on him spraying teamates at training and the likein addition to the whispers I have heard. Probably why the new coaches didn't make him captain. But hey, whatever....
  11. Plenty of drinks floating around. The other members of the gang seem to be Rivers, Jones, Col (obviously), Jamar, Watts and Petterd.
  12. Sorry..it's the 'Fab 4' - spare us! https://www.facebook.com/#!/media/set/?set=a.93876419988.105023.553694988&type=3
  13. Just look up his Facebook page. Not a private page. Plenty of photos of the 'Awesome Foursome' dinners. You will quickly work it out. The cool group is on show!
  14. you know what is really really dumb, to be awarded a free kick and and hand the ball straight of by hand to a guy standing next to you who is flat footed. Jamar constantly does it. No awareness, no thought to look around first. Almost as if no player wants responsibility of fooking things up. It drives me nuts.
  15. I find it very interesting that Brent Moloney escapes your list. I see Brent as one of the biggest 'diseases' at the club. I reckon he is sooking it up big time at the moment and from what I am told likes to get in the ears of other players. He is a good bloke Brent and we all know that he 'bleeds red and blue' but from what my sources tell me, he leads blokes down a somewhat 'unprossional' path. Sure he is in good shape and apparently trains hard etc etc, but he is well known for loving the party animal life too. Given that by all reports he tried to get out of the club at the end of last year, I feel he has cracked the sh1ts and has decided to sook it up big time. He was very lazy on the weekend. I reckon he might find himself at Casey this weekend. I hope I am wrong, but the bits and pieces I hear about Brent and his 'awesome foursome' arn't encouraging.
  16. Thie point you make about marketing is very true and correct. RipCurl have a shop on chapel street which loses heaps and heaps of money. However, Chapel St is teh most visited street in teh city and therefore they use the store as an advertisement for the label. The Demon shop thing would be much the same.
  17. We gave Chinese students free tickets to a game last season. Also a select number of Chinese students were give MFC scarves that had chinese writing on them. I work at Melbourne University and one of my students came to class with one.
  18. The Pogues are indeed out here at the moment and i agree, they would do a much much better version of the Grand Old Flag. Would love to see this happen. Stuff U2, Bono would make it all about himself. Can't stand the bloke! Would be great to get the Pogues to perform at that Rd4 game. A little bit like the Boston Redsox who get the Dropkick Murphy's to play live at games. See:
  19. That was indeed me on both pages. I am glad they only shot me from behind. I pulled a sicky from work yesterday. Would not have been a good look if i had of shown up on The Age photos at the funeral.
  20. I too saw Nath Carroll. The service had finished, he was walking on his lonesome eating a dim sim. I felt sorry for him. Didn't seem to have too many old mates. Also saw Strawbs O'Dwyer in a very 'vintage' 90's olive green suit. ahha. Also saw Stinga, Yeats, The Febeys, Paul Hopgood, Brett Bailey (I think), Barry Richardson, Leoncelli (i think). Very hard to distinguish players when they are no longer playing and/or not in an MFC jumper. It was a really moving day. It was sad and yet inspiring at the same time. We are lucky to have had Jim. The sea of red and blue was amazing. As was the demogrphics of the supporters there. I thought Sam Stynes was brilliant when she waved to the fans and blew kisses as she jumped into the car. It was a lovely gesture. If anyone tells you this club stands for nothing again, point them to this day. Farewell Jimma for now, we will miss ya mate. Thanks for all the memories!
  21. nice meeting you today GV. I too love that docco. I used to whack it on almost every saturday morning before going to my own footy games. I was hoping we might hear 'Dublin Jim' play as Jimmy's body was driven away. Kinda glad we didn't, I would have lost it for sure. Daisy, is there anychance u could upload the DVD to youtube for us?
  22. thanks Daisy! Look out for a bloke in the old long sleeve dee's Tooheys jumper. Thats me!
  23. I would like an opinion Demonlanders. I plan to attend this morning. I will not try to take a seat in the cathedral but rather will go to fed square. - Is it appropriate to wear the number 11 Jumper today? I am unsure. Dont wanna pretend this is a footy game, but i have a match worn Stynes jumper I was given by jim, I was thinking today may be appropriate day to wear it. Any thoughts
  24. its going to air. They have acknowledged the emails on air. They want to embarass the bloke I think
