Depends on what is offered 'wyl' and Roos might have other ideas.
-
All part of it but he just doesn't know how to work hard enough to harness his abilities. If he goes, he goes once then doesn't back up again and again week after week. Nothing about wavering or distraction, it's just plain work rate.
-
It's work rate with Jack, I don't think he will ever be hard at the contest but if he can work harder then he will be a player.
-
Yes, Jimmy is a different type of player but it's the comments from people like Rucciuto and a few other experts who continue to say don't worry the kid will be a gun that make me feel we have got it right. Lets sit back and watch, I think he is carrying the burden of Cook, Gysberts, Morton and to some degree Watts and it's unfair on him. ...and yes Wingard pretty much signed himself up as an AA with his effort for Port today.
-
My biggest concern with Jimmy is that I've yet to see him kick a ball more that 30mtrs, he continually chips the ball around. This is good old SA footy at it's best and one reason why we need Roos or Eade as coach next year and not Craig or Williams.
-
He hasn't shown that he can 'Adam' and it's hardly a wake up call when he is being shopped around by his manager for more cash.
-
Small forward are a waste of time, he's no good to us unless he can run through the middle. LeCras kicking has also bee off a bit this year 'stuie', but he is still streets ahead of Betts as a player. Much more flexibility.
-
I agree with this thought, a true small forward is worth jack... Apart from your back 3, pretty much everyone else is a mid these days. The Milne/Betts type small forward offers nothing.
-
I think better, he has a lot more depth but never gets it enough.
-
No hip op but a basic arthroscopy. Sucked into playing another game when I had retired, didn't need a lot of convincing to play though. Wish I could still do it. He'll be ok, I reckon his biggest problem is he puts too much pressure on himself. A bit of time and another pre season or so as you say and he will settle.
-
Agree, he will finish up a one club player at the end of the season. He has no more to give, got the best out of himself.
-
No, you don't pick up a development player at his pick. That's for a smokey down the list who will play a bit a Casey and may surprise. He's playing a lot of senior footy, some good, some bad. Wouldn't expect much different at this stage, I think he will be ok.. The hip op happened around this time last year and is being over played a bit, he did a preseason with the rest of the new boys and like them all he needs time to build on that. It's always a reduced programs for 1st year players.
-
Some of this stuff has been coached out of the players. Toumpas kicked these goals in the SANFL and didn't think twice about it.
-
I guess that's why he played his best game for us when we were well on top of Geelong??? Look it is a long way to go for him, we all know that. Give him some time to prove himself or not whatever the case will be, Ricciuto reckons he will be a gun and that's enough for me at the moment.
-
No not facts, Jimmy had an ok GF and probably kicked the goal of the day but was not BOG. The only fact is that this stuff is all in the past and it's what happens from now on that will matter. I was wrapped that we picked him up and I think he will be a very good footballer as a minimum.
-
'Redleg', I think one of Jimmy's biggest problems which could also be an asset long term is the expectation he places on himself. He is putting a lot of pressure on himself at the moment and needs to settle into the game a bit more. Game time will help.
-
It's not the touches, he's having to scavenge (it's the only word I can think of) for them and a player of his class should be making it look a lot easier than it is. Then he is not really doing a lot with them, i don't know what the efficiency stats show and I don't really care, he has no penetration at the contest or with the ball and should be bringing others into the game at a bare minimum.
-
Agree 'Ben', he really looked to be a future champ as a teenager. He still has time and I hope he can get it back together.
-
What a great innings from Agar, I know it's not football but what a sporting moment for a 19yo (for anyone really). Well done kid you just might have turned the Ashes series on it's head. Let's hope so. ...wonder if he can play midfield.
-
Neither have been able to go through the midfiled and it's part reason why they are playing in the 2's. As I said to a Richmond mate, they will never win a flag with Nahas and King in the side, like their endevour but they are just not good enough. Do we need to select any more players who don't add real value.
-
Betts type - No, Milne type - No, Ballintyne type - Yes
-
Maybe, maybe not but I think we both agree that they need more than one trick. I would love someone like the 3 you mentioned with us and just noticed 'Nashers' post above on Watts, I think he does have the ability to crumb the ball forward as he's shown before. A 196cm small forward would create some problems, he has the speed, skill and awareness.
-
This is exactly what I'm getting at, the 3 you've mentioned plus Ballantine, Wingard and the like, that's what we need. It's the Carlton and St Kilda type we don't need...whether it's the player or the club development but players like Betts and Garlett, Saad, they don't give enough and when they are covered they don't have a plan b.
-
Don't know much about Michaliadis but Banfield has shown nothing to say he can play through the midfield. ...but it's really the idea of us needing a small crumbing forward that I have a problem with, I think it is a waist of a position and with interchange restrictions due next season it will be an obsolete position if it's not already. We need players who can accumulate the ball, set up and kick goals work hard up the ground, that counts out a lot of if not all names mentioned on this thread. Saad, Garlett, Betts, Yarran, even Milne no thanks.
-
Don't agree, the permanent crumber role has gone with the idea of having 6 forwards and 6 backs. The elite sides in the competition don't use them.
