WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
rjay replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't know where you get the idea that McCartin is a Pedersen clone, he's nothing like him. -
That's why the trade proposition is probably not going to happen. The Dogs are in desperate need of a key forward, we have the keys to either Wright or maybe McCartin. We are not going to give that up for Hrovat, if they want, they have to trade and it would have to be Griffen, Stringer or McRae plus a pick...and they haven't got the balls to make that happen. They have nothing else of interest really, maybe Libba... Same with GWS as 'Pennant' has just said above, they will need to give up something really good if they are desperate for Petracca. The Saints have first shot at it but for us we would want one of their guns plus their first pick. How desperate are they? probably not that desperate but who knows. Collingwood? do they have what we want...maybe Beams or Sidebottom but I would want more. If they can manufacture something like a pick inside the top 8 as well. Can't see them putting their money where their mouths are. So where does this magical trade come from. Well the Tyson one was from left field so lets wait and see.

If they would trade Stringer I would do it in a heartbeat, would be a gun mid/forward for us.

The other side of this is apparently 'Patty Dangers' disposal wasn't so hot as a junior, and he hasn't turned out too badly. This is where the recruiters really earn their money. -

Wouldn't be disappointed with Laverde. -

Have to agree with you here, it will be a very interesting off season to see how we address some of this. As you say it's not a quick fix. We are coming from a long way back. -

The jury is still out here 'steve', no runs on the board yet although the Tyson/Salem deal looks promising. -

Could be the pick that everyone wonders why he went that late, then again he might not. Hope our recruiters are all over him. -
They talk everyone up. Have you seen a comment that says a player is no good and not a chance to make it in AFL footy.
-
I actually hope we get McCartin unless we have something else up our sleeves i.e: Cameron, Reid or Mitch Clark. We have one potential decent KPP in Hogan.
-
From what I've seen of him he's not overly physical just big. Jesse is an angry young man on the field, McCartin is as well, they would put the fear up a few defences.
-
Laverde is one that really interests me 'Bob', the only downside is that he runs himself into trouble at times trying to do a bit too much. Gore as a 3rd round pick maybe with some picks we might get from trades. It seems he is not rated at all by the draft gurus but looked good to me.
-
Cheers, I reckon he's watched a bit more of it. Interesting he sees Petracca as no.1. I would be happy with McCartin.
-
Nothing is for sure, it's always a risk and how many under 18 games has Mike watched this year...

They tagged Tyson after the first Q, his impact on the game was greater and is why we were still in the game. -

I think it was. -

...and Tyson carved them up in the clearances early in the game. He will either win or come runner up in our B&F, I don't think we made a mistake here. Kelly really got going when the game was done and dusted. -

Tyson has already turned the tide of games, I wouldn't be too worried about him. What is x factor, I would think it's someone like Jurrah, the ability to do the extraordinary. Kelly will be a very good footballer, so will Tyson, that's the least of our problems. Salem had serious health problems in pre season that gives him some let out plus he is a first year player, but he really does need to get involved in the game a lot more, can't argue that. -

So did Tyson, was our best player until injured and the reason why we were in the game in the first Q. Rating a player for their performance against us yesterday is nearly as bad as rating them on NEAFL form. We were that bad. -

Will still be surprised if the Saints take him but GWS are pretty likely to. So it's either they lose and take him or trade with the Saints for pick one and take him. Of the top rated mids available Laverde interests me, bit of real x factor with this kid. Height, pace, can kick but does run himself into trouble at times so maybe not a great decision maker. To me he will either be a real gem or at worst someone a bit like Murdoch at Geelong. Still rate Gore as a pure mid.... -
I think he will come out ahead of those 2 (Boyd & McCartin) and Patton and give Cameron a more than good run for his money. My money on Hogan.
-
I don't think so 'Machsy' but I guess it will be there for all to see in the next number of years. I do think we've got the best one in Hogan though.
-
I think they would regret missing on McCartin, can't see them passing him up.
-
No, but it hasn't hurt Aish or Dunstan. It's part of an overall picture.
