  1. I think Tyson is stronger in the contest than both Jones & Viney. The other 2 are more manic but Tyson can stand up a and release in the tackle better (when he decides) than the other 2, he is physically bigger and stronger. I think your list is pretty much on the money 'stuie' but I would add Tyson.
  2. Despite the mental scars Garland stood up against Port. I hope we hold him.
  3. Terrific game today and will only improve the more time he gets to run through the middle. The games against Hawks, Swans and Dockers would only help someone like vanders...looks like he's learned some of his lessons and applied them today.
  4. Spot on 'Dom', you don't easily replace champions...
  5. This is a really good point 'It's Time', and one I hadn't considered. The network of contacts is so important and expands the resources of the club.
  6. Col is where he is because he is not the total package and is not the talent you think he is. Anyway, now that he's retired I think you can look at his career and say what you see is what you get. Forget this mythical great untapped talent. As for Aaron, he's not wasting any time after a late start to his career and good on him. I love what he's brought to the team to date, lets hope it's just a stepping stone to the future.
  7. He's a bit quicker than Kev but not a bad comparison. Hah! yeah right and tell me where is this gun playing now?
  8. I don't think so, he was close to the Swans best player in the GF.
  9. I think he had talent but always lacked in an area that would hold him back and it wasn't just attitude, he had no idea of what was going on around him. If the play unfolds in front of him he's a world beater, if it's not he's a waist of space. Reckon he will be lucky if he plays a game next year.
  10. 'Webber', I always thought the big issue Silvia had was his awareness and peripheral vision. He certainly had the basics of runnin', jumpin' and kickin' down pat, but the lack of these other traits always put him at a disadvantage and meant he would never be an 'A' grade AFL player. Being a good basketballer means Petracca should have the vision and awareness however I've seen nothing in his highlight package that really shows this. The only full game I've seen him in is the game against SA at Geelong and he showed that he was strong overhead and could use his strength to advantage. When he was contesting the stoppages though he was beaten by Gore who is very good in close. So...I hope our recruiting people make the right choice and have covered every angle. If we take Petracca I hope he isn't Silvia II.
  11. I'm thinking it may be Lever... Petracca is not over the line yet by the way. Probably Ox's 90 something % but not a total lock.
  12. Think about it P-man, I'm not agreeing or disagreeing on Petracca but everyone whose opinion is worth more than a pinch of muck rated Tom Scully as a number 1 pick and his kicking is pretty ordinary.
  13. A great line that one, I just hope our recruiting team haven't gone about interviewing players under the same influence that Jock did.
  14. Not playing anyone unless he has a good reason and they deserve their spot. Not sure what you're meaning here 'rpfc' but if they went head to head McCartin wouldn't be a play thing, that bit I can guarantee you.
  15. Maybe apart from Hogan, he is better. Gawn is a ruck, Pedersen & Fitzpatrick depth. Now for one thing we might not even have McCartin and if we do I wouldn't be ruling a line through him just yet. I wouldn't be gifting games to Pedersen, Gawn or Fitzpatrick because they've been around a while. I am sick of gifting games to players who don't deserve it be they kids or experienced campaigners. That's right, he doesn't expect them to be saviours but he doesn't rule them out of developing at senior level either. Roos has been quoted as saying a lot of things and then it's 'Demonland' law that Roos does this or Roos does that. I judge him more on his actions. Roos does play first year players, first game in the AFL. It doesn't mean McCartin will or McCartin won't. If we go on 'Demonland' law we won't take McCartin and at least 3 of our picks will be used for senior players not kids.
  16. Why do you say this, Roos actions don't necessarily show that to be right. JKH played the first game last year. If we take McCartin and he shows plenty in preseason then there is no reason he won't play first game.
  17. Of course you can but the really good ones make an impact early in their careers. Brown, Brereton, Lockett for example made an impact early. The good thing about Hogan and McCartin is they are hard at it competitors (mongrels), a thing they share in common with the above players. I reckon it's these types that make it early. Jeremy Cameron is another that made an early impact but I wouldn't put him in the mongrel category although he is no shrinking violet when it comes to standing his ground.
  18. I would think more if we pick him up. McCartin is already better in the air and his leading patterns are better than Dawes. Dawes has a mature AFL body but it does seem to let him down a bit.
  19. ...but he was playing better footy without injury last year against the older kids 'Bob' so I don't think it will be a problem for him.
  20. ...but the draft is not today.
  21. Might be, who are you missing or who will be missing?
  22. A consultant with more than a lot of influence.
  23. Might have been his press conference but I heard the same thing. Seems like they are going to use pick 40.
  24. Not arguably, he was a great player.
