Congratulations to Matt Priddis, he's been a consistently excellent player for a long time now. I always wonder how much more highly regarded players like Priddis, Boak, etc would be if they were playing in one of the big Victorian teams. It is also fantastic to have the Jim Stynes medal presented during the ceremony. There are a lot of players doing great work in the community that you never hear about, and it is nice that they are recognised. PS. Kevin Sheedy - just go away forever. Please. I thought that tribute was meant to be about Bailey & Hafey, but you seemed to take it as an opportunity to talk about yourself for five minutes.

Another ordinary player who gets a game because the players behind him in the queue are even worse. As with Dom Barry, a player who was inexplicably given a two year contract early in the season - the reasons for this continue to elude me, as he would seem to be ripe for delisting at the end of next season.
-
I've heard Sydney are into Frawley as well, but have no idea whether the dollars quoted above are correct. Ultimately it means that players like Malceski will be allowed to walk, as was the case with Mumford, Everitt & others last year. The difference between the top clubs and us, is that the top clubs identify and recruit top end talent that they can build a side around (ie key positions & midfielders), at any cost, and fill in the gaps with good honest triers as necessary. We, on the other hand, continue to make stupid decisions such as paying big dollars for utility types and fringe players.

I think the MRP have been very consistent in recent times. They've basically taken the view that nobody will miss a final, especially a "name" player from a "name" club, irrespective of any precedents that have been set during the H&A season.
-
That pretty much sums it up - he is less terrible than other players on our list.
-
Not sure if he had ever player down back before this year, but his attack on the football was excellent. Having said that, he is far too loose and doesn't show enough respect to his opponents (eg Rhys Palmer) to be a full time defender and I hope he pushes forward again next season.
-
As much as Roos seems to love Jamar, Gawn has gone past him and should start next season as number 1 ruckman. If he can get a decent look at the pre season he could be one of our most important players next year. I really like the fact that he can push forward and make a genuine contest, as opposed to Jamar who contributes nothing outside the centre circle.
-
Unlike many around here, I'm not a member of his cheer squad, but clearly he improved markedly over the course of this year and he deserves credity for that. The next step in Nev's development is for him to be prepared to leave his opponent to help out his teammates, rather than watching the game carry on around him.
-
Clearly the second best ruckman on our list (behind Gawn), but that says more about the competition that it does about Jake's football ability. I'm happy to keep him around because you know he'll give everything he's got, and I certainly wouldn't say that about Jamar.
-
Dumb decision to re-contract so early in the season, and even dumber decision to give him two years. I don't see anything resembling an AFL player, and am not even convinced he is a decent VFL player. Why he was gifted games when guys like Toumpas were treated so harshly is beyond me. Just another highly speculative project player for us waste oodles of time and resources on before we delist in due course.
-
Is decent as a one-on-one defender, but proved to be a massive liability with ball in hand. Needs to fix this part of his game before he can be considered again at senior level.
-
No issue with him getting another year on the rookie list.
-
Not trading Jamar two years ago when he had value, ideally instead of Martin, was one of the worst decisions Neeld made. He is completely and utterly useless outside ruck contests, and even then I suspect that most of his hit outs go directly to the opposition. He is basically a witches hat around the ground and there is no way he should be our number 1 ruck next year. I would be more than happy to pay out his contract for next year and trade for a replacement.
-
One of the most short sighted draft selections we have ever made. An extremely limited footballer who had success against his peers because he developed earlier than most. Once he was up against players of similar size and strength he had nothing to offer. Another who should have been delisted two years ago.
-
Utter waste of space and really not sure why he was given a new contract last year. Next year would be his fifth year in the system - not sure why he'd suddenly turn it around. I'd rather pay him out and have an additional draftee / rookie / DFA.
-
Imagine how much uproar there'd be if the bloke had done something useful, anything at all, in the past 2 and a half seasons. The guy is a noxious weed and the sooner we see the back of him the better.
-
Amazing that a year in which he played more games than any other, bar 2012, his form dropped off so significantly. Usually players go better when their bodies hold up and they can string games together. Like Garland, he is a much better player than he showed this year and I have high hopes that he can recapture his 2012 form. I wouldn't be upset if he gave up the captaincy and concentrated on his football.
-
Surely there are better prospects at Box Hill who can't get a regular game at Hawthorn, rather than going after every geriatric in the competition. Guys like Litherland, Hallahan, Woodward, etc.
-
I suspect he'll do just enough to hang around the bottom of our list for another 2-3 years before we finally find a coach who will make a call. Full marks for effort, but just an average footballer. I'm not sure where he fits in if we pick up another 3 or 4 decent midfielders in the draft / trade period.
-
I didn't mind him, but we've had three coaches in succession not give him games but keep him on the list. At least Roos has finally made the call.
-
Agree, why waste a senior list spot on a bloke who is no chance of playing? Would have to be long odds to get a game next year as well, given Roos' reluctance to play untried kids.
-
Had a good solid year. Given that it took Frawley four years to become a decent AFL player, Tommy is tracking along nicely. Just imagine if he ever gets supported by a decent midfield.
-
Okay, so yet another assistant coach, presumably on decent money. The amount of money we've spent on coaching panels in the past two years for a grand total of 6 wins is mind blowing. Is Goodwin replacing one of our existing assistants, or is he just added to the pile?
-
I suspect he is just an average footballer, in the Magner / Valenti mould. Perhaps he'll show a few more tricks in the next year or so.
-
Was going great guns until Queens Birthday and then was pretty awful thereafter. I wonder if Roos might have done things differently if he had his time again. Should become a very good player going forward, although perhaps not the genuine small forward we desperately need.
