  1. If Green is offered more than 1 year, not only will it be a disgrace, but I'll be shocked. I think the men in charge now are more professional than that.
  2. Yeah... no. Other clubs know what we have to offer. They know we have 2 compo picks. In any trade we try to do, they will try to hold out for those. If we refuse, we'll struggle to get any deals done.
  3. No way, too much. Dawes would be valuable to us, but not that valuable. Straight swap maybe. Petterd plus a 2nd rounder at most.
  4. I'd say a lot of Ball's progress at Collingwood has been due to money. St Kilda wouldn't have had the cash that Collingwood did, that saw Ball having practically his own fulltime physio to get himself right.
  5. Impressive. 8 FT coaches?
  6. Any danger of changing the thread title to something that makes sense, or is at least less alarming? Ta.
  7. Well yeah, just like any team decides on which other team they negotiate a trade with. Sheedy might like sticking the boot into us publicly, but I've heard Freo were originally the favourite to trade for O'Meara. After his comments on Harvey's sacking, I doubt he'd be too eager to send him there. I can imagine Sheedy not being too concerned with what picks we get in return, moreso relishing the opportunity to boast about scoring both Scully AND the compensation picks we got for him. That'd be right up his alley. If the return is Crouch and/or O'Meara plus change, he can have them.
  8. I've been pleasantly surprised by the leadership shown by Watts to date. He'd be an excellent addition to the leadership group, and I don't expect it to take long before that happens.
  9. It's on the demons YouTube channel - deetvofficial.
  10. Cooko, I personally think it hasn't been about our form on the field - it has been about our lack of players with personality that comes across on camera. Bruce and Davey arent exactly extroverts. Green and Moloney typify the term "wooden". Sylvia is passable, but nothing special. You wouldn't get much out of Jurrah in that environment. That's not to say that they are in any way bad people. We just unfortunately have had a period where our best players have not been gold media performers. I think that will soon change.
  11. By this fuzzy logic we made an error choosing Watts over Daniel Rich.
  12. Or he was deserting a sinking ship?
  13. I'm not sure he'd be the one taking many shots for goal. It's more the pressure he'd apply and the turnovers he could create right infront of goal. & Bartram wouldn't have to worry about the complexity of needing to choose an option - he'd just need to keep it straight . Worth a try I reckon.
  14. Is that because it is such an effective counter to your poorly considered complaint? ALL draftees are project players for 3-5 years time. Anything that comes earlier is just icing.
  15. Bartram is not the best at selecting and hitting targets. He can tackle and go hard at the footy. Moving him deep in the forward line largely negates the need for him to deliver the ball. His job will be to fight like hell to get the footy when it hits the deck. It's really about simplifying the game for him, and actually playing to his strengths. To do that, you need to recognise that the game has changed. It has worked for Jake King. Don't just discount it out of hand. I was told I was being just as silly when I suggested Tapscott be moved to a HBF when he was drafted. "But he's a Paul Chapman clone! They'll never do it - he belongs in the forward line kicking goals!" they cried.
  16. I'd imagine Sewell is much more likely to find himself at GWS.
  17. Left-field suggestion, but I'd try Bartram in a forward pocket. His ferocious attack on the ball, tackling and defensive skills would make him great at applying forward line pressure and keeping the ball in the F50 arc. His disposal and decision making would be less of an issue - he'd only need to focus on kicking the ball straight at goal, centring it, or kicking to the obvious option. It would remove a lot of the indecision he faces when trying to advance the footy upfield. A similar sort of thing seems to have worked with Jake King. It's funny, we've sorta seen a reversal of roles in recent times. Creative players to the backline, not so much to play tight, but because of the drive they give out of the backline and into the forward line. Defensive structures make their defensive skills less critical. And conversely, hard-at-it defensive types deep in the forward line, to lock it in there once it comes in. To create that frenzied pressure that leads to goal opportunities. The switch from the hunted to the hunter. Don't be surprised if you see it.
  18. Greaves is a name synonymous with success in local footy in the Geelong area, but he has only been with the falcons for 2 years. This means he'd be familiar with only guys like Taylor Adams and Devon Smith (to be drafted this year) or from last year Billie Smedts, Jayden Pitt, Jeremy Taylor and our own Troy Davis & Cam Johnston. Bartram is from Ocean Grove, and is too old, as is McKenzie. Before that he was at Leopold, and encouraged Jai Bolton, who nominated for the draft & was taken by Collingwood as a massive smoky. He played VFL with Geelong earlier in his career, and wouldve shared the field with Geelong's now star players. He played in their VFL premiership sides that directly preceded their AFL success.
