Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
I see a split happening in the event that we know a player we like is going to be available at our next selection. If not then probably not worth it. Same as when we traded up for North's pick 8 then slid to 10 with pick 28 coming back ourway in 2019. That allowed us to get Pickett, who we were always selecting anyway, and Rivers. That's why I'm for a split if the club sees a scenario like that unfolding. 9 down to 11 and one of Richmond's pick in the early 20s. Get the same player and add an extra high quality pick. Richmond would potentially be enticed to do the deal as there are a couple competitors, as highlighted, above that could swoop in and take a player they like ahead of them. 3 picks within 24 in this draft is enticing but if we take 5 and 9 to the draft I'll be equally as happy.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
One of these will happen imo. Hopefully with Richmond

2024 Phantom Drafts
Nascents 1st round phantom draft post trade period. This is going to be wildly inaccurate and I'm not factoring in pick swaps that will inevitably happen in the lead up to, and on, draft night. This is largely based of my rankings, some speculation and my rudimentary knowledge of club needs to a degree. I'll do two rounds with write ups closer to draft night. #1. Brisbane - Levi Ashcroft (matched bid) #2. Richmond - Sam Lalor #3. North Melbourne - Alix Tauru #4. Carlton - Finn O'Sullivan #5. Adelaide - Sid Draper #6. Melbourne - Harvey Langford #7. Gold Coast - Leo Lombard (matched bid) #8. Richmond - Jagga Smith #9. St Kilda - Harry Armstrong #10 Essendon - Isaac Kako (matched bid) #11 St Kilda - Murphy Reid #12. Melbourne - Joe Berry #13. Richmond - Josh Smillie #14. Richmond - Toby Travaglia #15. West Coast - Bo Allen #16. Brisbane - Sam Marshall (matched bid) #17. Port Adelaide - Xavier Lindsay #18. Freemantle - Hamish Davis #19. GWS - Cooper Hynes #20 GWS - Jack Ough #21. Bulldogs - Oliver Hannaford #22. Richmond - Jobe Shanahan #23. Sydney - Taj Hotton #24. Richmond - Harrison Oliver #25. GWS - Jesse Dattoli #26. Sydney - Jonty Faull #27. Richmond - Jack Whitlock

NON-MFC: Trade Talk
Anyone know what this refers to? Trading up for another top 5 pick or something?

Wade Derksen
If we select Armstrong with one of our picks then the club probably shares your concern.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
Any chance we try and deal with Richmond? Pick 9 for 11 and 20 or similar? Probably not the best value for them.
-
Wade Derksen
Derksen is clearly the steak knives in these hypothetical deals. Seems like GWS won't move him so moot point but I wouldn't be surprised at all if we end up trading pick 9 regardless.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
I suspect we'll do a split with 9 and take 3 picks within 20 or so. Richmond and GWS potential trading partners on draft night. We have 4 senior spots to fill, we could sign a delisted fa and hold one over for an ssp selection. But given how lauded this draft is in its evenness and depth, I dare say we want one more bite at a top 20-30 pick if possible.

2024 List and Contract Details
I'd guess Sharp would have a minimum of two years given his age. We have the following jumper vacancies: 10, 12, 19, 20?, 27?, 29, 30, 34, 43

Do you think he'd be in the conversation for our pick 9?

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Next best small forward, whether he's the next best player at 9 is another question. @dazzledavey36 might have some insights into Berry.

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
He's a star imo. Would be very happy with him at 9. Has speed, not afraid of the contest and could easily slot into the midfield in time.

NON-MFC: Trade Talk
My first thought as well. If blues can con pick 8 out of St kilda then 3 and 8 becomes a very attractive offer for trac.

Riley to cal. "Who do you think melbourne will target with picks 5 and 9" Cal "two guns" Helpful, lol.

Brisbane lost 228 points here... might mean they're willing to make those points up with 49 for Sharp, which is 287 points.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 5
1. Lalor, Langford, Smith (rich) 2. Tauru (North) 3. O'Sullivan (Carl) 4. Draper (Adel) 5. Lalor, Langford, Smith (Melb) Trying to see how the top 5 might play out. Think we'll be happy with any of the above but would much prefer Lalor to slide to us. North still a big watch on pick 2 and if they pull the trigger for a tall early or split the pick with another team (or take yet another mid)

Wade Derksen
We'll be able to get this done if GWS come round to the idea, which is unlikely. However it would most likely result in us splitting pick 9 of which there are a few options and I doubt will be popular. 9 for Richmond's 14, 20 and 51 51 for derkson Or 9 for GWS 15, 21 and derksen Or 9 for freos 11, 30 30 for derksen and GWS f2

Carlton making our like bandits on that one. O'Sullivan to the Blues it would seem.

Really hoping Lalor gets to our pick.

Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
I'd personally have pick 9 in the team over pick 5
-
The Draft Pick Upgrade Thread
I wonder if we will do a small slide for an extra pick? Last year we saw clubs throwing an extra second round pick to move up one spot on draft night. Could we perhaps convince Richmond to do 9 for picks 10 and 24? The incentive for Richmond would be the risk of another team coming for our pick with another offer.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Harry Sharp
As others have said, I hope we angle for pick 66 and Sharp for 49. Pick 66 may end up coming in by 10-15 selections and give us a late stab in the draft.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Pick 9
My thoughts will probably change on this but I would be very happy with a Lalor + Berry outcome.

It looks a race in two between the Pies and Demons, who have thrown big pick offers at a number of clubs in the hope to land another first-rounder in 2024. Gold Coast's call will be trade period-shaping one given the impact on Houston. Houston, Barrass and more: State of play on major trade deals - https://www.afl.com.au/news/1242795
