Farewell Judd McVee
I think, and hope, that he'll stay. But playing devils advocate with a trade to WA the following picks could be available at current live ladder positions... West Coast: Picks 1, 14, 19, 32, 50. All 2026, 2027 picks Freemantle: Picks 12, 30, 39, 48, All 2026, 2027 picks This is obviously prior to compensation picks and slides due to academy selections.

2025 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
This kid could fit the modern transition game well. Has pace, runs hard, looks good overhead and kicks it well.

We've lacked a genuine lockdown player for a while now, that's the main reason I can see we would have interest in Windhager. Our mid depth is also significantly lacking. Could easily see him as a half forward that locks down on the opposition attacking half backs. I still have interest in Chesser and Angwin as good users of the footy, chesser in particular has line-breaking pace. Starcevich, pending medical/concussion due diligence, would be an amazing get for our back half.

AFLW SEASON OPENS THIS WEEK
I'm hoping we will see list sizes expanded soon. Only 30 players for a season isn't enough and needing top-up players in round 1 isn't a great look for the game. Guessing it's currently a financial decision by the aflw to keep it at 30?

Contracted until 27 so unlikely but Cooper Simpson can't crack into the Freo team and showed skill and pace when I've watched him. Ex Dandenong Stingray kid.- POSTGAME: Rd 22 vs Western Bulldogs
From my perspective at the ground it looked like he collided/ricocheted off the goal post and lost his balance. I was more annoyed at the lack of defenders running back to assist, from memory at the game they looked like the were expecting the ball to go through and were too slow to react to the ball still being in play.- Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford
Didn't get exposed for pace on the wing by Baker who is no slouch. While obviously not as quick, he runs smart lines and isn't as slow as some reports made him out to be. Been a fan since his bottom age level in the Coates league, he hit the scoreboard regularly there and has a real weapon up his sleeve in his contested marking. We have a star in the making I believe.- The most likely tall forward and tall defender combo
Key Defenders: May, Lever, Turner, Petty, Adams, Derkson, Berry Key Forwards: JvR, Jefferson, Johnson, Kentfield Potential swingman: Petty, Turner, ?Johnson, ?JvR Turner probably stays a defender long term, he looks great aerially behind the ball but his ball use and decision making needs to improve. All having good pre-seasons I would look at something like Key Backs: May, Petty, Turner Key Forwards: JvR, Jefferson, Kentfield Don't feel good about leaving a fit and healthy Lever out but I feel Turner is playing his 3rd man intercept role well and want to continue his development. Not sure there's room for both Turner and Lever. May currently stays for leadership but we may need to consider other players to prepare for life post May. Petty to play back, he's battled on as a stop-gap in the forward line and done ok in recent times but it's time. It's a young looking forward line but I feel both Jefferson and Kentfield are ready for games and would complement each other well. I like the idea of 3 talls rotating through there so we have at least 2 at all times at any given moment in the forward line throughout the game as well as the ability to give Gawn a chop out. Johnson, Adams, Derksen and Berry I'd treat as depth for now pending form. I'll probably change my mind on this before the start of next season.- POSTGAME: Rd 22 vs Western Bulldogs
Liked seeing Bowey at half forward in the last. Refreshing to see a kick to a key forwards advantage that draws them to the ball.- POSTGAME: Rd 22 vs Western Bulldogs
Good game save for some frustrating moments. Lots of players slipping from both sides. Can't say I love our forward line set with our talls. We seem to spend about half of each quarter with one of Petty, Gawn or JvR on the bench and as a result we have a single key target. Petty gets up the wings and we are looking at Fritsch and Melksham to be our aerial targets. They do this well for mid-size players, but I think we would make our lives so much easier if we had two keys in the forward line for most of the game.- Welcome to Demonland: Luker Kentfield

Probably not much chance with this one but perhaps we should be monitoring Jordon Croft from the bulldogs? 201cm athletic key forward. Hasn't played at senior level yet but starting to put some nice form together at VFL level. Hard to see him getting a chance with Naughton and Darcy unless they opt for 3 talls.- CASEY: Rd 20 vs Brisbane Lions

Spargo doing his best to arrest momentum. Some nice plays in the last couple minutes.- CASEY: Rd 20 vs Brisbane Lions
Feel we need to move one of our key forwards into the back half. Whether it's Johnson, Kentfield or even Kalani. We have too many up forward and are noticeably short in defence.- CASEY: Rd 20 vs Brisbane Lions
Lions kick 3 quickly, backline looks a bit shaky with fast entries- CASEY: Rd 20 vs Brisbane Lions

Not a bad idea. Kids important for our future and he's had a big year, particularly off a limited pre-season. Can't play Casey finals so getting him right for day 1 pre-season with no niggles should be a priority.- CASEY: Rd 20 vs Brisbane Lions
Just realised that Lindsay isnโt named for Casey. That's two weeks now of no games at either level for him. Management after a long year or perhaps an injury concern? No mention of him in this week's injury report.- CASEY: Rd 20 vs Brisbane Lions
Another viewing of Kalani while potential top 5 picks in Willem Duursma and Daniel Annable (Lions academy) will both be lining up. - Trade Targets
