  1. id be happy with either. Probably Salem.
  2. I lived in Willie for a while. Its alright although the development boom and consequential increase in population hasn't been accompanied with improvement to road access or the ever cancelled trains
  3. I would personally be happy with Scharenberg, Aish, Freeman or Salem. I trust that our recruiters and coaches will get it right this time. Scharenberg looks impressive. Aish is very confident but has some issues and the mfc skinny factor might scare us Freeman has awesome speed, breakaway pace. Some worry about kicking but I think he'll be ok. Sheed is probably the best overall skill player - has less weaknesses - maybe less possessions but poise more than makes up.
  4. you can't judge living in the eastern suburbs by Ringwood. Box hill, Waverley, Noble Park, Dandenong not multi cultural enough for you? I lived in the east, the north, the north east and the west. The west had the worst air quality, the worst public transport, the least trees and parks and the least soul the north has the most soul and is the most multicultural, but the north east and eastern suburbs the best parks, open spaces and air quality. at my work we used to trace the big brown cloud that started at Williamstown and went west. my mate and his brother both bought houses for $560k years ago: one in burwood overlooking a park with an old oak out front; the other in Spotswood overlooking a refinery, stacks of shipping containers and a power station... each to their own but proximity to the city isn't everything.
  5. I rate Lennon quite highly but just don't think he is what we need.
  6. How about an actual demon in our logo?
  7. Lennon and longer were team mates at the McLeod Kangeroos.
  8. I heard that roos is putting John Howard through his paces after seeing the footage of his bowling...
  9. And although I agree magnet was slow it still blows me away that we allowed certain players continued game time in our midfield in 2013 despite utterly woeful performances. Magnet was never a superstar buthe was never utterly terrible and I can think of about five players that at various times in 2013 were.
  10. Everything Jon Ralph has printed about the mfc under the neeld regime has been confirmed to me personally by a club source. I think James has got emotional here and Ralph has taken advantage, but I think its unfair to call Ralph a hack. we should move on but most of the players found neeld's communication skills to be onfusing and poor. That us half the reason no one knew what their role was on game day.
  11. Politics shouldn't be the same. The fact that so many Australians approach politics with the blind emotional allegiance that sports supporters feel for their sports team instead of thinking about policy and the good of the country I one of the biggest things that annoys me about Australia. we used to play a game on a one eyed party man at work. We'd tell him a policy of the party he hated and say it was his parry's policy. He'd tell us how astute it was until we told him it was the other party and then without realizing how much of a blind ignoramus it made him look he'd suddenly tell us how bad the policy was. Lets not let unbiased considered thought get in the way of our party allegiance...
  12. Poaching a head recruiter is simplistic.
  13. Billings and Lennon are basically running half forwards. Do you think that is what we need? Ivebeen pretty underwhelmed by Billings but rate Lennon mainly because I've seen him play in the northern league. Salem does look talented but how tall is he? freeman's disposal is my main concern but his speed and ability to get his own footy do look worthy
  14. Dylan shiel has that kind of confidence and swagger. For too long we've lacked on field leadership through confidence and backing one self.
  15. Nicho can run like a kelpie but can't kick. In a negative tagging role he might become a valued player. sometimes players get delisted or stay based on where they do or don't fit.
  16. Rumours I heard was that other recruiters laughed at our interest in Cook.
  17. A name that was recently delisted was the worst footballer ever to play
  18. Recruiters from other clubs also rated Morton. There are employees still at the MFC that defend that selection. He was one mistake others could have made. I think the bigger mistakes were selecting players other clubs thought were not in contention that early like Lucas Cook, Gysberts,
  19. I got in a random conversation on the train tonight with a guy who reckons he keeps an eye out for players for a side in one of the yarra ranges league. He claims that Dom Tyson is an utter gun and GWS will regret letting him go for a pick on a young kid.
  20. I see your point. Space and Sal cap. But I think in tappies case why not keep him if trade interest is poor to see if he can finally come on. I think any strategy of a club pushing out quality older players on the assumption that their younger players will come on or that they will draft well (saints, Geelong) has the potential to go the way of the Dees circa 07-13 if they don't nail it. Have always preferred the idea of making younger players break into quality sides myself.
  21. What's the point in pushing for trades for Jamar and tappscott if they are given away for unders? Or little interest?
  22. I'd take Tyson over Adams in aheartbeat. I'd take Vince over Sylvia in a heartbeat. Col's 2013 was interesting - usually 20 disposals but never any impact. Col had a few good games a year if we are honest. Scharenberg looks good but is that the player our list needs the most? Will he be available at pick 9? St Kilda - how many games did Longer play at Brisbane? Why do people talk like he is a proven ruck? Ever see him play in the northern?
  23. Not sure I agree with much of bigtony's post.
