So the 'troll' says that Rodgers road record is poor and he should have played in more SB's. But the same troll is also saying that McCarthy is a poor coach and should have been sacked long ago. 2 posts earlier the same troll said that the coaching is fine. So the QB should have a much better road record and featured in more SB's yet has a coach who is deemed as useless Makes no sense whatsoever. But coming from someone who supports the Forty-Whiners, I'm not surprised. Chips on shoulders the size of boulders.

And I'm on record here in saying that Brady is a better QB that Rodgers ... but mainly because he's played in 8 SB's. Swap teams and the story is probably the exact opposite. But Brady is the outlier, an aberration and not the benchmark. Same as Bradman's average is not the benchmark. But the dolts of this world see both Brady & Bradman as the benchmarks. They don't get it and I'm not sure you do either ... you are not a big picture person but you are definitely a 'fan' acting like a fan. I am entirely sick of talking to you to be honest and I see you as acting in a disingenuous manner on this matter ... in short, I don't believe you.
  3. Well we might happen to snag one of the horses in the lottery ... 14 horses so 14 people who are lucky enough to have a horse running for them share in a prize pool of $500k. Good dosh. I'll be getting a few entries in but I've got a mate who is tinny when it comes to landing these sort of prizes ... I'll have to let him know although he might already know about it. The Australian Cup has lost a bit of its lustre of late so the new race might reignite that race as well ... it's run the week before but it is a 2000m race so it attracts more of the staying types. But the Mile race suits the types of horses we breed these days so it all makes sense to me at least. I reckon a lot of the increased prizemoney should be directed at the 1200m to 1600m Group 1's anyway ... the Everest being a case in point. Aussie races for Aussie horses & Aussie connections.

See the list of playoff appearances below ... he missed in his first year and last year when he broke his collarbone. 8 years running - playoffs. He has only ever been surrounded by a reasonable or above average team with reasonable and sometimes above average coaching. That is why we have only made the 1 SB in Rodgers time at the Packers. I would have thought the above was clearly obvious to those who follow the sport closely. I watch all our games very closely and I am brutally honest when it comes to sport ... I'm unbiased, don't play favourites, I'm hard but fair and never scapegoat. And I detest excuses. Never blame refs or umps either. So you can rest assured that my appraisal of Aaron Rodgers is accurate. I've got about 7-8 mates who follow the NFL closely and not one of them doesn't share my view about the Packers. None of them rate McCarthy that highly nor do they believe that the Packers roster has ever been that particularly strong.

I was expecting a scene like out of 'Lost' the TV drama where said person is thrown out of a jumbo and lands head first (with cheesehead apparatus attached) into some sort of swampy lagoon. That's just a bit more interesting and colourful that the Cessna story

Yeah you're not really a threat for the NFC title but you're a real chance for the 3 seed with the NFC East being a bit of a lottery. The 3 seed gets you a home final and that might mean a win and another game in week 2 of the playoffs. And in the playoffs sometimes everything can go well or go badly. 1 interception is often magnified in big games. It's that kind of sport. I'm talking in this fashion because the Vikes & Packers are both not playing very well at all and neither team looks like it either. Both have been very disappointing where as the Bears have worked their way into a 7 & 3 position by doing a lot of the basics well. Nothing spectacular but the wins have come. I'd be reasonably confident of some January football if I was a Bears fan (god forbid)
  7. Big news out of Racing Victoria today ... the talk in the lead up to the $5Million race could rival what has happened with the Everest. I reckon it's a fantastic initiative and will boost up the interest in our Autumn Carnival. The race will rotate through Flemington, Caulfield & Moonee Valley which means all 3 race clubs can invest into the race. A top idea. And Winx would be a real chance too as the QE Stakes is not run until April 13. The $5Million All-Star mile is set for March 16. Others in the running could include Shoals, Alizee, Grunt, Kementari, Hartnell, D'argento, Santa Ana Lane, Happy Clapper, Trapeze Artist, The Autumn Sun etc etc $5m All-Star Mile for Victoria (set for March 16 2019)

The issue for me and the organisation is that he won a SB ... if not, then it would be a far easier parting off the ways. GB are big on tradition and to say that they are conservative would be understating things. If it was me I'd offer a parting handshake deal where McCarthy wasn't put out too much or disenfranchised down the track. How you do all that is tricky but the organisation does need to go in a different direction so I don't disagree with your thoughts. As for Jones and the running game, I'd like to see us build a running game like the Saints have to compliment a top-liner like Brees is. Ingram & Kamara are staples with some decent back-up. They combined for 174 yards today yet they have a terrific passing game. That is the offensive model I want at GB. The Saints are the team to beat in the NFC. All-powerful. And the NFC North is now for the Bears to lose ... Chicago dismantled the Vikes today and you should be able to go on with it from here on in. I listened to the game and the Vikes could not get going all day - good win. Win 4 of your last 6 and the division is yours. 3 of 6 probably does it though. I can't see the Vikes or GB getting to 10.5 wins so 10 wins should do it. The +99 points difference tells a story too.

You can have that nutjob ... no thanks By the way, a 43/44 W/L record on the road converts to 4 & 4 W/L average road record over a 10 year period. Roundabout. And if a team is good enough to win 4 games on the road then those teams are generally good enough to win at least 6 games at home as well Playoffs or close to playoffs every year for 10 years straight. Who would pass up on that? San Fran?

Bit lame that story ... but whatever floats your boat You do know that the clowns at San Fransisco could have easily drafted Rodgers when they were screaming out for a QB ... and he was a local. Aaron reminds the 49ers whenever he gets a chance. What could have been hey? An irrelevant organisation your mob though ... losers.

I am sure that opposition fans would like nothing better than Green Bay to sack McCarthy with no beg your pardons ... but the cynic in me sees that as a way of destabilising the club. As an example ... the England supporters got stuck into Mitch Johnson because thay saw him as a threat - but Mitch turned the tables on them and sent the Poms into orbit. I am not a big wrap for McCarthy but we could end up in a worse situation if we sack him much as the Demons were when we went from Bailey to Neeld. Who wants that? I'd rather the Packers do a full review like the Pies, Tigers & Cats did with Hardwick, Buckley & Thompson. It is entirely possible that McCarthy can coach better and that we build a different game-style moving forward. A shot across the starboard bow might be the tonic. Elway used his power to use Peyton in a more effective way and it worked spectacularly ... Rodgers needs to be used as Brady is used by Belichick. And we need a stellar running game to match the passing game. It hasn't been the Green Bay way previously but the formula we're using right now just isn't working. We've got a great QB and to not make the playoffs in that scenario is diabolical. However, you don't ever make panic moves.

What's a cheesehead? Not me. The term is used as an insult by fans of other teams disguised as a term of endearment ... all because a small percentage of Packer fans tried to turn the insult around. Don't care for it Gonzo. And I know the history of it - annoys me.

It has been that way for longer than I was prepared to admit previously ... but the Packers won't dump him like what happens in soccer (Leicester/Ranieri springs to mind) There has to be an air of respect and responsibility attached .. the previous GM's are to blame as well. It is not just 1 bloke as we found out at the Demons with our coaching. Others are at fault so a full review and do-over is needed. The season isn't quite over but we'll probably have to win-out to have a chance at winning the division. And that is a tall order, all things considered. Lose at Minnesota in week 12 and it is all over.
  16. The 'Donald Cup' delivers another win for DK Weir ... his 2nd stringer in 'Romancer' but that's no surprise. I got lucky again but only because I know how much Weir sets his horses for these Country Cups. His pattern is that he normally has 3 runners and at least 2 of them nearly always get into the first 3 or 4 across the line. So you bet accordingly. Watch out for the Ballarat & Kilmore Cups this upcoming weekend then follows the Wodonga Cup & Traralgon Cup the weekend after and then the Pakenham Cup in early December. Country Cups Schedule

We really should be known as the 'Green Bay Rodgers' as Rodgers virtually calls the shots ... but the organisation allows McCarthy to allow Rodgers to call the shots. I am obviously not talking about every play but come crunch time, it's Rodgers at play. Which doesn't really work in terms of having a great team. About 3 or 4 years ago someone here on this thread said the same thing and I didn't argue with them because that poster got it right. The truth hurt and I couldn't argue. McCarthy isn't really clueless but he is miles off Belichick. And he is a SB winning coach so there are points in the bank. The Packers won't dump him and I don't want him dumped either. An 'Agreement' can be made however. If we miss the playoffs (as seems likely) he'll get another year. That's how I'm seeing it.

Back onto all matters tipping wise, good call on the Texans layz as they have slipped under my guard. If the Bears win they give themselves a real shot at the division - if the Bears lose the division is the Vikings for the taking. The Packers are probably out of it unless we can somehow beat the Vikings in Minnesota in week 12. Big ask. But it is come on Washington I say - at least for this week ?

McCarthey is not a good coach - he is average and sometimes below or above average. And I'm being generous with that appraisal so as to keep the trolls at bay. The only area we've been good at in the last 10 years is WR. That's it. Our defense has been average or below average, terrible at RB, Secondary useless, Tight ends are non-existent and the offensive & defensives lines below par. Rodgers is the shining light although I will admit he is getting on a little bit. Not much, but a little bit Mate, I am an insanely passionate Packers fan ... I may not show it here very often but that is the truth of the matter. I hate losing and it's the wrong time to engage right now. I am angry. frustrated and pizzed off. Another season wasted because the team isn't good enough and the coach is basically clueless. AAARRRGGH

Back in the day wingmen could win games for their teams so the Flower comparison is quite apt ... he actually influenced a number of our wins when he played. And I witnessed his entire career. Montana only got to 4 SB's ... does that make him a failure in all the other seasons that he played? Of course not. But if I use your logic he is to blame. Favre & Rodgers were/are great players so your focus on them without even mentioning the rest of the team or the coaching is disingenuous. Anyway, how's your own mob going these days layz? Still choking? Or is it tanking time again? ha ha ? Brady has a great road record but he has always been surrounded by a great team and great coaching. And there lies the difference. And I regard Belichick as the greatest coach in any sport of the modern era. Tom is blessed but he is also a great player. Rivers & Brees are about 50/50 on the road like Rodgers is and in real terms, that is a great result, all things considered. But that is just my view. Most starting QB's have a poor to below average road record but that is the nature of the beast - even New England lose 2 -4 road games most years.
  21. Well I liked Ventura Storm in the Zipping Classic and it was DZ's best bet as well ... but as was the case with a number of horses that have been performing well recently, a lot of them had come to the end of their preparations. My choice (Into the Abyss) didn't run on either. If only the horses could actually talk hey Wadda? ? They generally don't show those signs until the moment it happens. Still, I've had a more than decent Spring Carnival and the attention now turns to Ascot (WA) , Sha Tin & the Doomben Summer features a number of races that holds a bit of appeal as well. The Ballarat Cup is on next Saturday and that race is always a keenly contested affair. No doubt targeted by DK Weir of course! ?

It's got more to do with the other choices being risky, high risk or worse ... I thought about the Panthers, Titans, Houston & Tampa but with 2 points on the line, I'm better off picking 3 decent teams. May or may not work as there are no guarantees. Personally, I reckon the Rams will probably win but if KC play great, they might win. I'm more confident with the Steelers and to a lesser extent, the Vikes.

You didn't miss a great deal from my point of view Wadda ... did a lot of 2nd guessing today and therefore managed to miss with some obvious standouts such as Yogi, Ringerdingding, Cool Passion & The Taj Mahal. A lot of stats are meaningless but here's a beauty ... In the last 16 times we have played Collingwood in a finals game we have won 15 of the matches. A 15 & 1 record. I delight in enlightening Pie supporters of that stat. Just the look on their faces upon hearing that meaningful stat is priceless. And there is no comeback. None.
