A Day at the Races
I got the early double Gorg (place) ... odds were about 10-1 so definitely worth the gamble North Afrika salutes and it's party time (with masks adorned of course!) Collette wins the Golden Eagle! I was on the wrong Godolphin runner (Flit)

A Day at the Races
Well done! No such luck my way but I've had a decent day so far so can't complain That extra 500m was the difference by the sounds of it and will they run it in the Cup? Pagan can expect a number of offers from horse owners from here on in though, all the same. Picks up a cool $120k as the trainer of the horse. Nice work if you can get it!

A Day at the Races
Place multi still alive ... didn't see the race but 2nd in that field is a grand effort And now Johnny Get Angry wins the Derby ... trained by none other than Denis Pagan. Can you believe it?

A Day at the Races
That's a good start ... got Crosshaven up with double the winnings! Effectively 8-1 with the early odds up on Wednesday ... gotta love that!

A Day at the Races
Good luck today for those having a flutter! 3 best bets for a place multi paying $25 (boosted) The 3 win bets in a multi returns $550 (or extra with a boost)

A Day at the Races
You've got to get in early to get the odds sometimes I had 'Nimalee' (Rosehill R6 No.10) picked out for a win bet but it's gone from $12 (boosted) yesterday into $4.80 today! And then I noticed that Gator had picked it out as well. Ugh!

A Day at the Races
$9.50 up to $12 booster odds with Ladbrokes Gorg I'm always on the lookout for horses that run recent good times and 'Rock' falls into that category. Should get into the finish as it is well weighted and has drawn nicely. Might need a gap or 2 in the straight but Michael Poy is a good jockey. $3.10 the place suits the multi punters as well

A Day at the Races
I had a win bet on Armory but when the rain came Sir Dragonet came right into it because of its form on slow tracks. I had it on top in the end so just needed the right combo with the others. Arcadia Queen unlucky by all accounts ... nearly got knocked over early but still came 5th Got the tri in the Manikato Stakes last night as well ... the speed maps gave Hey Doc an ideal run in the race and that's how it turned out Got lucky but you need luck in this game Gorg. Good luck with your multi's tonight ... I'm doing the form at Saint-Cloud (Fr) tonight!

A Day at the Races
And Blazing Miss loomed large and then dropped away - couldn't get through the heavy ground (and it was a very heavy track at Randwick in the end) You're in the lap of the gods once the conditions deteriorate like they did. The ADATR place multi didn't quite work out but I got a few winners and the trifecta in the Cox Plate so a decent day

A Day at the Races
Nice work Gorg Had it for the win and got it in a few multi's as well. Gets our treble off to a good start!
-
A Day at the Races
All 3 in a Place Multi shows a dividend of $14 ... that's good value considering our best place hope is probably JV's tip - at the best odds (Blazing Miss) All 3 in a Win Multi is paying $418 - and all 3 can win! Let's hope so anyway ? #GambleResponsibly

Another great big Neeld era recruiting stuff up...
Jones, Gawn & Jetta turned out alright. T-Mac might get back as well. Not many others made it through although the same sort of thing happened during the 70's & a lot of the 80's. Good players find a way Too much is made of development & coaching in my view. Of course that side of it is very important but it's not the be all and end all There's not enough on the players themselves. The good players often coach themselves or don't need to be coached per se (or over-coached)
-
Another great big Neeld era recruiting stuff up...
Neale being a pick in the 50's was going to be a story one way or the other And recruiters don't go out to pick poor players ... that's just the way things turn out Prendergast picked Gawn at pick 36 and we've done well more recently with trading or swapping top end picks or reshuffling picks or in fact the use of them ... May, Oliver, Petracca, Brayshaw, Viney etc etc Melksham, Hibberd, Fritsch etc have been good pick ups for 2nd rounders as well Drafting - you win some, you lose some The reality of drafting is that it's an inexact science and probably always will be. As previously stated, no big deal
-
Another great big Neeld era recruiting stuff up...
Well it's not a complete lottery as you've got a much better chance of unearthing a star with a top 10 pick as opposed to a pick in the 50's but nonetheless, drafting is flawed.
-
Another great big Neeld era recruiting stuff up...
The same people who moan relentlessly about skewiff results re drating also often freely admit that drafting is an inexact science. Go figure. Trying to place high school age footballers into some sort of numbered order is an exercise in futility. Lachie Neale joins an extensive list of late draft picks who turned out to be guns. The reverse applies of course ... top order picks are often complete busts I don't see what the big deal is. It is what it is
