  1. Footy is way different The players are ruling the roost and it is plain to see
  2. Sparrow showed a bit of promise back then but is now an ordinary player and has regressed. Doesn't win his own ball but we've got more than half a list in that boat Trade or delist Again, none of these harsh player evaluations are the fault of the coach 'If it is to be, it is up to me' applies to all players. Blaming the coach when a player is not up to it is poor analysis I guarantee you that if this lot hadn't won a flag, there'd be a lot more talking like me
  3. I'd trade Rivers Wastes the ball and panics
  4. Yeah now, but not then You're using hindsight to help your argument
  5. Yeah now, but not then Since then, those players keeping Bedford & Jordon out of the side have lost form
  6. I couldn't care less what others think JVR plays from behind and is soft. At suburban level he'd be found out And Fritsch rarely puts his body on the line and doesn't like contact. That's why he won't lay tackles He's a receiver as is JVR
  7. Opportunity When they were at the MFC, we didn't have room for them Shiiiittt happens
  8. I'm on the side of the coach as the players are bludging Freeloaders & coach killers
  9. And it is incumbent on all the players to get the best our of themselves If they want to sook it up, trade them out. Getting paid $Millions for what? To lay down on the job? A lazy, undisciplined and unaccountable group That's what we are stuck with
  10. He just dropped 2 players who won't go near a contest (JVR & Fritsch) ... expect more of the same but the cupboard is bare Casey is full of NQR's who are not AFL standard We need a lot of new players
  11. He's a soft footballer who should have been dropped last year Won't go near a contest and looks frightened
  12. In my view we've got a list of lazy freeloaders taking money under false pretenses We need to rebuild and trade out (if we can) the players who have decided to lay down on the job Or play them at Casey like Fritsch & JVR Goodwin needs to weild the axe. He's got nothing to lose as he's heading for the axe himself
  13. Yes they are Fritsch & JVR are gone Expect more although, the replacements are even worse. We've got 10 or 15 out of form and another 15 NQR's
  14. If a player is out of form, then that is the fault of the player himself, not the coach Take Viney for instance, completely out of touch and is just wasting the ball when he does get it. Should be dropped but the cupboard is bare. His replacement worse So he'll keep getting a game for now but don't expect any improvement. The only person who can fix Viney is Viney Blaming the coach is idiotic and short-sighted. A new voice won't improve Viney Numerous other examples are in the same boat. Our senior players are letting themselves down and they are letting the jumper and the club down Blame them, not the bloke who is trying to coach them. Right now, they are uncoachable Work-to-rule is in operation and it's clear to see. The big contract players are taking the money under false pretenses They should hand the money back until a point is reached where they are giving 100% Freeholders & Coach killers
  15. If the players are protesting, they should forfeit any money that they've received (and future monies) What I find astonishing on this site is many here are constantly blaming Goodwin for the players poor form Would we blame Roos or RDB or Northey/Daniher if a player has a shocker? I think not Goodwin is an easy head to kick (and it's a cop out)
  16. That's a possibility* but if we one by one start looking at each of the players who are established in the seniors, there are issues everywhere Leg speed, disposal efficiency, speed of ball movement and sharing of the ball (at pace) has all dropped off to alarming levels And if we add up all the off-field stuff, it just looks like it has taken it's toll. Dispirited, disjointed, dishevelled and dysfunctional And we're the type of club that can bottom out quickly. And then stay down Of course there's always hope but I'm not sure where our next win is coming from If it's tomorrow, rejoice! *It would be decent pay out to Goodwin even if it's only 12 months of his contract. At least $1Million I'd say. Maybe a fair bit more
  17. Looked at another way ... how many bona-fide, AFL level players have we got (right now) playing to that standard Maybe a handful of players? Tops It's actually quite alarming (the drop-off in performance) We've suddenly become this old team, devoid of pace and skills And pro sport takes no prisoners. Freo will be looking to crush us if they get a chance The supreme optimist in me maybe somehow sees a win but we're allowed to dream A crushing loss should make the focus on the players but it doesn't work that way (at least, not initially) Goodwin will cop it but will it be his fault? I say no because I reckon our list (apart from a number of the young blokes) is cooked
  18. More like 'Time to Go - Half the List' Apart from 10-15 NQR's, we've got about another 10 players who are at the crossroads May & Max are nearing the end Petty hasn't played well since he was linked with Adelaide T-Mac is on his last legs Salem has lost a yard or 2 and has very few dynamic possessions Viney is fast becoming a liability Oliver is in another world Petracca is well down on his best Fritsch has gone backwards JVR plays like a fish out of water Melksham is nearly done Sparrow - what does he do? Rivers is wasteful and is not improving Spargo can't get the ball etc etc etc The end comes quickly sometimes but the collective drop off has been alarming So back to Goodwin ... he's not the chief recruiter is he? The list he has been handed this season has been exposed as not good enough But Goodwin to get it in the neck and no one else? Makes no sense
  19. And how does Sparrow keep getting a game? Does anyone ever notice him. The invisible man Perhaps he could show a bit of aggression? Rivers never steadies or lowers his eyes and is another who kicks it blindly. We should look at trading him But apparently, it's all Goodwin's fault? Laughable
  20. The same people that have been calling for Fritsch's omission (constantly) are now annoyed that he gets dropped? His form might have improved but he was coming from a very low base and it's fairly obvious that the MC have grown tired of him not doing the team things JVR is barely suburban level for his last 10 games. Won't play in front, goes for marks with one arm (what's that all about?) and has no vigour or aggression in his game Viney is getting picked on reputation as well and is right now offering very little Petty does not attack contests and is lucky to be getting a game. Our lack of depth keeps Viney & Petty in the team ... but both are passengers And Gawn needs a downgrade from just rucking 90% of the time. Fullarton deserves a decent go at it so Gawn forward or bench (25% of the time) And can Oliver start playing as a team player again? Just gets it and kicks blindly forward He's like the 3rd Crouch brother right now - ineffective $1.4Million per annum for that? Money for old rope
  21. So why are you blaming Goodwin? You've got everything A-about
  22. Are you sure you're not projecting... seems to me that you come across as that type of person (arguing with yourself in the shower) Patrinising? You've made that up You've said the same thing about Goodwin about a 1000 times. Yet, not a word about the players who wander about without a care in the world (getting handsomely paid as well of course) You need a more balanced approach So start blaming the players
  23. All 4 show a lot of promise but we need to develop them well Currently they've walked into an environment where our senior players and experienced players can't (or won't) adopt a new game plan (offense) So my concern is that unless our senior players lift their game (pronto) these 4 kids could end up in a minefield trying to establish themselves A big part of developing youngsters is having the right type of environment ... so our experienced players need to lift their game and start working hard for success. Starting from tomorrow against Freo Set a good example for the youth coming through rather than work-to-rule
  24. Well, we don't know anything for sure do we? But we can speculate What is happening on the field right now mirrors what happened at '186' and the Neeld era And we now know that the players back then were taking us nowhere. Same story now? It looks that way to me History repeats. The players know that they'll get off the hook and the pressure will go to Goodwin Overpaid, underworked & lazy. The new modern type of offense requires a lot of gut running & sprinting to position Our players simply do not want to work hard and it's the older, experienced players leading the revolt And we are letting them off the hook by simply blaming Goodwin. In fact, it's dumb analysis, really dumb Goodwin didn't learn how to not coach overnight. On the contrary, he's trying to deploy a new system that the players are too lazy to adopt Coach killers
  25. I favour an experienced coach when rebuilding as it's hard enough for a rookie coach just to win games Roos went 4 & 18 in his first year and no one batted an eyelid But there are a number of rookie coaches who have rebuilt and been successful. I'd just prefer an experienced coach like a Roos to rebuild. Or a Sheedy, way back when But Bailey and Neeld never stood a chance at a club like ours anyway. Development was neglible, our players weren't fit and we were in the midst of rebuilding ... how can a rookie coach cope with all that?
