I've been fairly confident going into the playoffs despite form but anytime I see the Packers as a playoff matchup I do take it seriously, moreso than if it were someone like the Vikings or Cardinals etc (Made sure not to choose anyone's team here) but I will say I'm a bit nervy now.
This Packers side is in good form and just dismantled a team who was 8-0 at home this season. Jordon Love has been incredible with some of the throws he's made under pressure and he's impressed me as much if not more than Brock Purdy. They are also running the ball very well, we saw Aaron Jones run like there was another Optus outage and he had to hand deliver everyone's text messages.
As you mentioned Purdy won't have thrown a football on 3 weeks but Deebo, CMC, Trent Williams and a few others are also in the same boat. We can only hope they will all be raring to go. Our defense is widely considered to be strong but teams have managed to move the ball on us with running at times. We will also be without DE rotation Clelin Ferrell who I find really good at setting the edge on defensive run plays.
Its going to be a true NFL playoff game and the Pack are in with an outside shot. It's a free hit for them so they will give it everything.
Importantly, we want this to be the Saturday (Sunday our time) game. Nothing would irritate me more than knowing I took today off when we had the bye and then missing it next Mon. May the best team win!
Good news, layz
Our game is set down for 12.15pm next Sunday (AEDT)
The Texans are set as the road team for the Sunday 8.30am game (AEDT) and they will be at the Ravens if the Bills win tomorrow (Bills would be at KC 10.30am Monday if they win)
Detroit are the home team in the Monday 7.00am game and they will play the Eagles or Tampa

Hard luck all the same, BDA
I honestly didn't believe the Packers could play that well and Dallas just had one of those days
Don't worry, I've seen it happen the same way a stack of times with Rodgers & McCarthy
If you do go after Belichick, Dallas will be must viewing and Bill knows how to win big. It's just the match up between Jerry & Bill? Huge ego's!
But they could find a way for it to work and Bill would know how to manage Prescott properly. Belichick's strength is total team with no weak spots
So, you've got the talent to win big, you just need a great coach
You never know

Didn’t we move to Casey to build our supporter base as it was in the major growth corridor of Melbourne? So it’s great that we are training at Casey at times unknown and when you do, you keep the sessions closed during school holidays and all other times for that matter lest a fan stumble into the inner sanctum.
Of course I understand the need for utmost secrecy regarding our game plan, the new one we develop around this time every year that starts out with a few nuances but by the second half of the season looks exactly the same as it has for the past 5 seasons.
Using a boxing analogy the Goodwin game plan reminds me of a heavy weight slugger who only knows one way to fight, keep moving forward throwing as many punches as possible hoping by sheer strength to overpower your opponent. It works most of the time until you run into opponents who know how to really box. That said for one glorious period of 10 weeks in 2021 we boxed like Ali and destroyed all before us. Where did that magic come from and where did it go?
The biggest difference from 2021 has been the crowded forward lines we now have to cope with. And that started from early in 2022
Couple that with our slower ball movement along with less corridor football and the crowded forward line gets even worse
And then last year we started getting injuries to our first choice forwards so we ended up with a makeshift forward line trying to function in a crowded situation with the ball coming in, in a bombing style
We're asking our forwards to stand underneath those bombs so what chance have they got?
Despite all that we won 16 games in the season proper in both 2022 & 2023 (stellar defence, excellent midfield, accountable footy, a zone defence that operates well and a terrific contested style)
So we need to get smarter up forward and with our delivery to the forward line. Certainly with the speed of those inside 50 forays
We need to change because we have to change. That's where having some fresh ideas from McQualter can be invaluable
As previously stated elsewhere, I'm confident that we'll see a different game style that can really hurt the opposition

You sure like to keep hammering home the same message
Only because the same person keeps quoting me and the same person started off quoting me
Go back and have a look at who started the argument
I'm just replying most of the time. The rest of my posts have focused on the technical aspects of our team and our prospects
For instance ...
I'm reasonably buoyant but not overly optimistic for the new season
The first major task is to get into contention (top 4) and from there we're going to have to be at our very best and we're going to need a good dose of luck
We can cover for a few injuries (here and there) but we can't cope with a massive injury list, no team can (Our forward line woes from last season has been well covered)
But finishing top 4 is always a big ask even for a dominant team who are the reigning premiers
So it's going to take a lot of hard work just to get into contention
But we are more than capable of achieving all of the above
If most things go right, we can win the flag

What doesn't add up is if it's widely known within the club that Goodwin doesn't listen to his assistants, how has he still got his job?
And why would the assistants not leave or look elsewhere?
Your argument just doesn't stack up and I doubt that even 1 person believes your nonsense

I just had a quick read of 2 fairly lengthy threads devoted to upcoming 2013 season
The enthusiasm for the year ahead was quite frankly, a little amusing in hindsight but by and large, the mood was full of hope
Many (including myself) were predicting at least 10 wins and others were talking finals (we were coming off a 4 win season in 2012)
But 2013 delivered just 2 wins and an average losing margin of 77 points
This year, we'll be coming off a 16 win season so how is the mood?
Reading this thread, a bit gloomy and quite a few are angry and frustrated
Some of those showing enthusiasm for the year ahead in 2013 are gloomy now
Go figure

A no nonsense, excuse free, reality check of a post.
And on top of all that, we are completely cactus because apparently, occording to @Sir Why You Little, Goodwin refuses to listen to any of his assistants
If that's true, we're in allsortsa
So we may as well pack it all in right now. I mean, what's the point?
However, there is a slight chance that Wyl made the whole thing up or was given the wrong information
Anyway, as further news drifts in, I'll endeavour to keep everyone informed
So don't microwave those electronic memberships just yet, there's still hope!

Why the need to add the word 'blatantly'
Isn't a lie just a lie?
So enlighten us, when did Goodwin start refusing to listen to his assistants?
And how is it that as far as can be made out, you're the only person making such an outrageous claim?
Where's the proof?

Correct he (Goidwin) is not the midfield coach, and sadly he took little notice of those coaches on gameday

If I said such a thing, I'd expect the whole site to question me for proof. And I'd have to be able to back up what I've said

It’s called having a different view and opinion.
The Misery was losing to The Filth and Carlton in Consecutive weeks during September.
The forward Gameplan needed adjustments after the ‘22 Season…..I don't care for miserable pessimists especially when they quote me
Pouring out all their misery and bringing down the mood?
All you ever do is whinge. You'd clear a room in 5 minutes
And quit with your lies about how I've evaluated recruiting previously.
In actual fact, Jason Taylor recruits in exactly the right fashion and mirrors how I would go about it. And he's been at the club for about the same amount of time that I've been on this site
So where's my conflict? The answer is there isn't any
Anyway, spreading lies here is against the sites rules
So you should retract and apologise
I've never done it (spread lies) and nor should anyone else
So start behaving yourself (if that's at all possible)

There’s not a coach in the land that’s playing Petracca as a midfielder/HHF. He’ll play to his strengths which is midfield/deep forward
So do care to explain to us why when Petracca went forward last year that he played at half forward and was often used as a link? (as well as a goal kicking threat)
For an indication of the above comment, a lot of his shots for goal were around the 50 metre arc ... or often further out where he tried to get the distance. Largely explains why he kicked a number of points. From even further out he often kicked to the hot spot
He floated about everywhere in the forward line much like when he plays as a midfielder but he didn't play deep forward all that often
Anyway, the bloke is as fit as a fiddle so I don't know why you have this impression that he hasn't got the kilometres in his legs
The league is full of big-bodied midfielders these days. And they can run out games and sometimes be required to play other roles which requires a degree of running

Thats prob the difference between a win and a loss today.
But no matter win or lose the Rams have been so much better than I thought and our future looks pretty solid with things to build on.
The difference might be that Detroit can't get into the red zone on possession ... 3 and out again for the Lions

It can't be assumed that we won't be addressing the issue of our forward line connection
So, I'm assuming that we will be addressing the issue because we have to
But as @rjay correctly pointed out, long kicks into the forward line has its benefits if we're able to retain possession on those long kicks. And whilst all that is happening the opposition aren't scoring
But that system is no longer going to work against the good teams in my view so we need to change tack
But again, sometimes we don't have a choice with long kicks in as the midfield is often under pressure. In those situations, kicking to a 1 on 1 instead of a pack (or the left forward pocket) would be preferable
So if we have better schemes at the centre bounces and stoppages, we'll have a much better chance of delivering the ball with more efficiency to the forward line
So it starts from the midfield (and also from half back on the rebound or from turnovers in our favour)
