  1. It was my very, very poor attempt at irony T-U. All good.
  2. Taking the financial and footy perspective into account: by far the best outcome for the club is Canberra, assuming the stadium can be made available at short notice. I understand Manuka has the lowest cost base of all the capital city venues, meaning we walk away with reasonable dollars (given the circumstances), even if the stadium's half empty. I can't think of a place BrisVagas would prefer to play less. Five degrees centigrade at 9:35 pm will suite them a lot less than us. Vagas have never played at Manuka - advantage us. Plus it's about time they did some Covid heavy lifting after their soft ride last year. the Manuka surface is in tip top shape given the low (ish) number of matches played at the ground so far this season. Both clubs could have a training run on Thursday and a light jog and a kick on Friday, if they so desire, and the surface would presumable hold up well. We have very good recent form at the ground . . . virtually a home track for us! Most Dee games played at the ground (eight) have pulled better than the venue's overall average crowd numbers.
  3. The Dorks And B*ms is not as horrid as I was imagining.
  4. The Dogs supporters were always pretty respectful when I used to journey out to the Western Oval in the 1970s. No problems with them at all.
  5. Their analysis English means May and Lever must play a more accountable style imho. That’s good for us. The 3 headed monster is going to be hard for Melbourne to defend. Lever and May defend as a pair, and that is not going to work against a 3 pronged forward line. Their humour I'm just worried some Demon forward will yell out "leave it for Bailey!" and Cordy will duck the spoil thinking Williams or Dale will waltz out with the ball. Meanwhile Fritsch gets an uncontested possession and strolls into an open goal. Could this be first game in history that 4 Baileys have played? Bruce and Naughton 1 and 2 in the Coleman by the end of the night. Canines Outstanding Victory Inflicted on Demons. Their anxiety I don't think Dale will handle a tag well. Gawn will trouble us, Lever will trouble us, probably more than May. No point tagging Oliver, just have libba go h2h. Worried about what Gawn could do to Sweet as well as thinking one of Pickett/McDonald/Fritsh might kick a bag. I reckon the midfield battle will be pretty even and both teams will get enough looks inside 50. What will decide the game will be who is more efficient when they go forward. If we put the ball down May's and Lever's throats we will lose. Spewing Salem got up. I’m loving Sweet but Gawn is a whole different level with his play around the ground. English is only really a second ruck and won’t help the centre bounce cause as much as he will be a huge help up forward or preferably down back intercepting. I wonder a little about Josh Bruce too, I still remember last season. Melbourne has the only midfield in the league that worries me with us at full strength. Now there's is simply better without Treloar. Their decency Great team the D’s but we are on a better roll right now. Go Dogs! I'm sure Gawn will comfortably win the hit out stats but I'm also pretty sure Sweet's instruction is to help win the clearance not the hit out. Felt like yesterday we debating who the best player in the league was, Whitten or Barassi, now it’s Bont vs Petracca. Biggest game between our clubs since the 54 Grand Final. Disappointing we can’t attend but i think this could be the first of quite a few big games between us over the next few years, tonight is all about getting early bragging rights. Petracca has had a great 18 months before that he was all talent not much application. Hats off to him putting in the hard yards and building his tank for longer stints in the middle. His still got to keep up this level of performance for a few years yet to catch up to bont who has been consist for 4+ years. Four of the top five Brownlow favourites in this game. I’m not stating that we will beat Melbourne, but there is no doubt we can beat quality opposition. Melbourne are a quality side and will be top 4 this year. This is a 50/50 game in my view. Their madness Dees are a Max Gawn injury away from being average again but ride the wave while it’s lasts. I don’t expect long term success out of Melbourne myself but time will tell. This is there year if it happens.
  6. Totally in keeping with AFL culture I would have thought.
  7. There are some players, who regardless of skills, experience, size, role, age, etc. do not play better in the magoos even though there's a substantial drop off in intensity and quality of skill execution in lower grades. BBB might be one of these. I suspect his performance in the magoos won't be any different to what he produces in the seniors. If this is the case, the coach needs different criteria when selecting, or not selecting, these types of players. And we all know at Melbourne, some players have special privileges when it comes to selection.
  8. Wow wee . . . hard on Gary Baker, Henry Coles, Glen Elliot and Cameron Clayton there DubDee.
  9. Trade Weed for the Bont at the end of the year and we win 2022 hands down. Problems solved.
  10. Mitch Brown: the inform forward at the club.
  11. Thanks for all the reporting guys. Love yous.
  12. If fit, this guy is in the best 26 footballers, and best eight backmen, in the club. He’s consistently been named in Casey’s best recently. Amazing he wasn’t bought in to replace Salem. He’s certainly better than three blokes we put in the field yesterday. Yesterday’s game was, at least partly, lost at the selection table.
  13. There are 100 micro decisions that players made yesterday that if different would have potentially changed the result. Max’s decisions rank about 80 on the list.
  14. Let those who has never made a mistake levy the first fines.
  15. If we think the major problem is the umpires, then we are delusional.
  16. Where’s Launceston? Oh, that’s right. Horethorn’s home ground.
  17. Looking to increase Weed's trade table value . . . Go Deez.
  18. Not when the content curation is this good on this thread.
  19. Meanwhile, Elon has just walked away from it and some ethical investors are beginning to divest.
  20. Why hasn't anyone else thought of that I wonder?
  21. And move Lockett to CHB and Hudson to full back.
