Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Any mail on why the AFL is obsessed with Buckley specifically @Chook in Perth? They have at least three serious other options it seems to me.

She's still upset we pinched Laurie Fowler at the end of '74 and he went on to represent Victoria and win three Blueys. Her job is to make money for Stokes. Needs to top-up her super.

Guys pull out for lots of reasons: injury, form, or just a well-timed act of risk management.

Woke up feeling a bit low this morning. Read this thread and realised, comparatively, I’m higher than Liam Jurrah in 2010.

Thank goodness Skipworth’s out. Appalling name for a Melbourne coach. Sounds like a substitute geography teacher. Can we please check if Clive Hampton-Rose is available?

Um, Norm Smith was doing this in the 50's and he said he got the idea from his brother Len Smith. Any other "innovations"? Once again, we’re told, with great excitement, that “pushing up from half-back” is some revolutionary tactical leap. In reality, it’s been part of footy since at least the early 1950s. It's generally accepted that Len Smith introduced this mode of play as a consistent game style, which was further refined by his younger brother, Norm, throughout the late ’50s and ’60s. Ron Barassi himself acknowledged that Len Smith was the forerunner of the modern running game. Norm famously ran Brian Dixon off half-back, while Barassi took the same principle to great effect at both Carlton and North. Malcolm Blight then pushed it even further at Geelong, playing Gary Ablett Sr. off half-back — partly to freak out the opposition and partly to free up the great man to create options further afield. Listening to some modern commentators, though, you’d be forgiven for thinking these ideas were invented in the last five minutes — probably between ad breaks.

Too early to commence a Get Lade thread?- Luke Jackson back to Victoria?
At least a quarter of a million people in Australia have supported Melbourne for 60 years, regardless of the above situation.- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Statistics are like bikinis. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital. Using raw numbers to argue form is like using a sundial to time a sprint — brave, but not helpful.- The Marcus Windhager Thread

@picket fence . . . a shed load has gone down since you left town mate. Let me put you in the picture. Jeffo’s the Schrödinger’s Cat of Demonland. He’s simultaneously being traded, re-signed, delisted, and named captain — all depending on which page of the thread you’re on. By the time you get back, he’ll also be running water for Casey and negotiating peace in the Middle East. - Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
