  1. Very good summary, Freakster. I disagree on Jetta. I like him. All in all though, you nailed it. Were you at Casey 2 weeks ago ?
  2. I accept you have the IQ of a brick. However, I'd still permanently ban you.
  3. He did some very ordinary things today. Thankfully, he did some good things. Just a player.
  4. Cook up nachos tonight.
  5. Should be permanently banned.

    SPENCER

There's a bit of Strawbs O'Dwyer about Spencer. He's certainly the most aggressive ruckman we've had since O'Dwyer.
  7. Having ventured out to Casey Fields a week ago I was certain that Neville Jetta would be picked for yesterday's match. He was superb as a small marking/crumbing forward. He had that flair and defensive pressure so crucial to the better forward lines. Driving home I was satisfied that we'd really found a player. At 19 and having had a taste of seniors in the WAFL last year he appeared ready made. He would have made a difference yesterday.
  8. I love Maric. Mr Positive
  9. How good was Spencer ! Mr Positive
  10. It's a tough ranking, but if you ever heard Captain Blood explain it you'd understand. Though the old fella was prone to a bit of tongue in cheek. In my eyes, if you aint elite you're really no better than 'good, ordinary'. To what degree is the only question.
  11. They may see him that way, but it's only based on potential and expectation, not output. And 'good, ordinary' is a good ranking in my eyes, which probably is misunderstood. And I've always enjoyed ranking players. It's not a teacher thing.
  12. I've decided that I've been too negative of late and resolve to not make one more negative comment for the rest of the year. After this one Mind you, I often feel I'm a realist as opposed to a pessimist, but I accept that forceful written words on forums can have an inference, or delivery, that seems harsher than intended. And despite what would be popularly believed I don't want to alienate myself from my fellow beloved posters (maybe I'm just in a good mood) OK, I judge footballers harshly and that won't change. I could go on about accepting nothing less than flags blah blah blah, but that will bore everyone, but I will say: =If you judge Judd, Voss, Matthews, and Hird as 'A+' footballers (top shelf) and Crawford, West, Cousins, and Black as 'A' grade players (just a rung below) then how do you categorise McLean ? He's not yet even an 'A-' imo, which puts him somewhere aound the B's. If you're in the B's, or below, then you haven't reached elite status and you fall into my "good, ordinary" category.= Btw, plenty of players don't reach 'good, ordinary' in my book. You have to be pretty good to reach that status. The challenge for McLean, and he's now old enough and hopefully through his injury concerns, is to elevate himself as a footballer beyond the category I've given him. I think he can. My only concern is his pace, but I think he can overcome this handicap and reach the status of West and others. That's the challenge before him. Jarka, I'm probably a tad harsh calling the bulk of today's players "boring battlers", but there's no escaping the quality of our list and where we sit in the football fraternity. You changed your name from Demonheart for a reason. I do like plenty of our young kids and see a lot of upside, whilst admittedly I've put a line through many that will be lining up today. Call me Mr Positive from here.
  13. I don't need to cast my mind back, I was there. Great last half after an indifferent first. As I said, I love the bloke. Good ordinary, though.
  14. Sylvia is just a player. He lacks footy nous and is yet to make a position his own. He's not a mids bootlace, not a KPP, and lacks the silk of half forward flankers. Sadly, just a player.
  15. No and I've made that clear. Read more. That said, this club needs exciting players more than ever to drag people through the gate. In reality, we presently have not one exciting elite talent. Our best footballer is Brock McLean, who I love, but in the words of Jack Dyer 'is a good ordinary footballer'.
  16. It's only forum junkies that are [censored] themselves about our sponsor situation. It's obviously not ideal, but publicly begging is hardly the way to go, or in any way cut a half decent deal. The club doesn't need to pander to emotional wankers on here. Being publicly desperate is hardly the way to land corporate deals. And when are they "constantly telling the media that we're close to making an announcement" ? Because they showed some confidence when asked a quesion on the matter yesterday ? As a supporter I don't feel fooled, or that I've been regularly misled. Your bile is becoming tiresome.
  17. I'd eke out a few "inches" seeing Watts, Strauss, Bennell, Jetta, Bail, Maric, Jurrah and Blease play. Whilst I understand the need for a morale boosting win in our current circumstances, and all that goes with it, I've never been overly excited about a NAB match. Wonaeamirri, Morton, and a couple of others hold interest, but more than anything I'll be hoping for a showing that doesn't resemble the insipid displays of last year. I went to Casey last weekend to see our recruits in action. That intraclub match was of far more interest to me than this Saturday. Each to their own.
  18. "Big deal progressing further into the competition." No it's not. It's the meaningless NAB Cup. "Big deal about gaining more exposure for potential sponsors." No it's not. It won't have any bearing on our sponsorship. "Big Deal people actually talking about Melbourne winning matchings instead of loosing them" No it doesn't matter. Most supporters that have any clue about our game recognise that it's the meaningless NAB Cup (albeit with $220K prizemoney) and place little credence on the results. It's premiership points that matter. Give me a win in round 1 over winning the NAB up. Many will disagree. So be it. But you're excited and that's all that matters. Knock yourself out.
  19. The NAB Cup has never excited me. And Dunn, Bate, Cheney, Bartram, Buckley, ... don't do a lot for me. And yes, I want players to earn a spot, but not by dint of longevity on a list. I want an emphasis on talent. And save draftees of the last 2 years it's virtually non existent. So I'll manage to curb my excitement on Saturday.
  20. Notionally I prefer red and blue, but the white guernsey is clearly crisper and graphically more appealing. It's just a better jumper. Ergo, the invincible whites.
  21. I suppose I can understand the first year players having to wait another week, or two, but it's a bit ho hum for me. I think that we've got a good chance of winning, but I'm not sure I'll bother watching. No Maric, Jetta, Bail, Bennell, Watts, Blease, Strauss... Just a boring group of battlers that might eke out a win. Big deal.
  22. I couldn't agree more. Buckley makes poor decisions, his teammates have no clue as to what he's doing, and he turned the ball over regularly. I don't mind him as a footballer because at least he takes the game on..., and he finds the ball, but your hearts in your mouth when he has it. Petterd was very good. Bennell, Bail and Jetta are in my best MFC team. I'll admit that I'm not a Dunn fan, but there's no way he's a key forward prospect. He can't take a mark and doesn't like a hard contest - despite his physique. He's also not a midfielders bootlace. He's a classic tweener. Not up to it.
  23. Wonaeamiri was BOG for mine. There are a few Aussie doubters out there, my Brother included, but he will surprise many this year. He is a genuinely good footballer and looks much better this year. Jetta played very well. Bail did some classy things including a lovely left foot goal. Bennell was poised and impressed. Newton is a horrible footballer.
  24. I didn't have to "forage" mate, they're on the previous page. And I don't expect you to be able to spell sesquipedalian, but 'believe', c'mon ! It's quite ironic that you can't spell the word.
  25. If you'd bothered to go to the AGM you would have found that Board members and staff were quite approachable for a chat after the conclusion. You could have asked any question you want.
